I closed all the gates to the corral to keep the cow in Mike is going to treat. That kept all the girls out Looked out a while ago and Billy wss standing by the lot gate. Went out and opened a gate and he came in so feeding will be easy. Been cloudy.part of the day but sun is out now but still nice.

@BethL
I think my son and I ran across one of these at an old Christmas tree farm near us. There's an artisanal creamery on the property with a vintage ride-on stream train. DS and I took a walk to see the train; imagine our surprise at the randomness of finding this guy.HB

Good night, sleep tight.

H B, I don't think I'd be smiling if I saw all those teeth! 😁
I went to a workshop about generative AI tonight. Everyone will be using it soon.
Is Billy getting better?

Good morning. I am enjoying the cooler nights and darker mornings. I'm not one of those Pumpkin Spice girlies, but the weather has been delightful of late. We're due for rain the start of next week which is great, except I've got a couple of appointments and the painters are supposed to doing some exterior work here.
Jerilynn— Is the sport coat for HoCo? I've noticed this is becoming a bigger deal than it was when my kid was in school. I hope you enjoyed your mani/pedi date. Mom's granddaughters were supposed to take her out for pedis yesterday, but I suspect it didn't happen. I'll be annoyed as I was supposed to do this on Tuesday but canceled so they could make a date of it. If it didn't happen, I'll have to jam it into next week which is busy for me.
I'm glad the family has addressed your aunt's driving. You'll sleep better knowing she's off the road.
Lorita— I'm sorry about Billy's footrot. Is there anything you can do to prevent this being an issue for the girls and their babies?
I was thinking of you yesterday. Our HOA is finally removing the Bradford pear street trees. I do hope they replace them with something; Bradford pears are no longer legal to plant in PA. They've been a nightmare the last 15 years or so. The HOA spends a lot of money having them trimmed maintained. That money could go to better uses.
Lady Z— I'm glad you and your fur family made it safely to Boise. I don't envy you having to unpack.
Iris— The situation with your friend's knee sounds really miserable. My former neighbor had a second revision of her TKR because of that complication.
Mom just likes to shop. She likes pretty much any kind of shopping— houses, cars, clothing, home decor, plants. She's not wild about online shopping but enjoys retail, consignment, wholesale and thrifting. She doesn't always buy something, but more often or not she does.
She's generous for birthdays and Christmas but isn't one to buy something "just because". Last winter, storms blew off 3 shutters on the front of my house. Mom offered to buy me new shutters for my birthday. When I had the new ones installed, she insisted I let her give me a check for them.
Gothic G— Enjoy your reunion in your fabulous new frock.
You probably would love the theater— they do a mix of first run, classic and very niche films.
Judith— Are you having issues with the hearing aid app? I find mom's app sometimes resets her volume level randomly. It makes me crazy.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
I'm all ready for paint. I'd like to tweak the trim colors but have to submit a proposal to the cluster HOA first. They've been a lot less rigid over the years— they even let 2 families reimagine their former colonials as modern farmhouse. Switching from colonial blue to colonial green should be fine. I had to send them an application, photograph of the current colors, swatches and the contractor's license number. HOAs are tiresome. #0/10 do not recommend.
The cool weather has brought the annual field mouse issue. Usually, I see one or two during fall/winter. We had one on Tuesday night in the living room. DH chased it around before giving up and then DS found it in the wastepaper basket near his recliner Wednesday morning. DS released him into the yard. Then last night, there was another one. This guy was bodacious— he climbed the fireplace screen and then the drapes. DH fell chasing the damned thing. I finally trapped him when he jumped into a box. I released him in the middle of the street. Not 20 minutes later, there was a third one. DS and I trapped it and he took it to the far corner of the yard and let it go. I hope things are quieter tonight.
I hope all have a pleasant day.

Good morning.
HB: Field mice in the home—argh! I used to have a shopping odd behavior years ago. If I went shopping and came home without buying anything, I would get a headache! It took me a while to figure this out. I learned that I had to buy something, anything before I came home. It worked. It was very odd.

Love this photo of your son and the dinosaur, HB!

Lorita - I'm glad footrot can be treated. It sounds really horrible.
Iris - I have a colleague who lives in San Diego and she just loves it. She's lived there for years and would never, ever leave.
And it's true about the seasons in southern California. I'd never really seen "fall" until I went back to the east coast with my s.o. I remember being kind of dumbfounded by all the colorful trees.
Beith - that is one mighty fine T. rex!
Judith - I love the game triathelon!!
HB - Great photo! That dino looks like he's seen better days though. 🙂
And thanks! The reunion should be fun.
As for me, we're headed down to California. We were going to fly, but with the shutdown and the possibility of delays, we just decided to drive. We're getting ready to go, and we should arrive at my cousin's house early evening. Then I'll start reconnecting with old friends.

Mice…peppermint oil but would only work wheere you see them. You migh try spraying around any/all possible entrances
Hearing aid app? I did not know I had one but upon checking I see that I do. I would not touch it for anything. Ant problems take be straight to the audiologist.

Morning, thanks for asking. Iris, it seems that Billy is walking a bit better. I let the cow out this morning and went to the crib to get some hay for Billy.. He was in the other part of the barn but I told him I was going to give him hay and he came over to eat. I hsve talked to him since he was a baby and he knows what I say. I talked to Mike before sun-up today and he said one of the guys would be coming this way tomorrow and would bring the medicine to give in his feed, and the feed. If not, I will go get it. One of them came by last night to check the cow but they didn't know Billy was back up to bring the medicine. . I !ove their South African accent.
Iris, that is a wonderful reason for buying something. Glad you figured it out.
HB. I don't know of anything to prevent the footrot as long as they want to stand in the cool water when it's hot.. I wish there was. I hear it is painful and can be debilitating.
This morning Sheena had her back legs out to each side like she was laying on her stomach and I had to help her get up. I was thinking this morning that Stormy, in human years, is my age and Sheena is ten years older. Both of them have arthritis and so do I. Max is getting older, too but Lilly and her baby, Sammy are the youngsters.
I feel stronger today. Two days ago I doubt I could have carried some hay from the barn to the yard. It takes time and I just finished my medicine yesterday.
I ordered crumb cakes from QVC for Darwin and his wife and I, received them last night and I can't eat one yet. So, they are in the freezer until I can. She didn't feel well yesterday but maybe she'll feel like having one today - she loves sweets.
Judith, sorry about your hearing sides. Charles had trouble with his, too. Does it bother you to have something in your ear?. I would worry about how to get them out if they were really small. I was wondering if you have ever been down to bricktown.
I woke up at 4:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep so might take an afternoon nap.
Anyone having trouble getting onto our thread?
Mice! I saw one this morning sticking his head out from under the linen closet door in the bathroom. Wondered why Lilly has become so interested in that space! At least it was not a snake!! Guess I could spray Grandpa Gus in the bottom, away from the linens. It's time for mice to find a warm place tor the winter, especially in the country. Back later.

Good afternoon rockers!
Was able to see my high resolution CT scan this morning, but not the pulmonary function test yet.
- Centrilobular and paraseptal emphysema.
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Heart mildly enlarged and mild diffuse atheaosclerotic disease present.i believe they will have more of a complete picture with the Pulmonary function test.
My grandson turned 17 and all if us went to Buffalo Wild Wings to eat last night. This was first time for me eating there and even though everyone loves it, I thought it was overrated. I have two appointments Friday at the VA in Springfield and believe I will get the flu and pnemonia shots. Any other shots that might be due I'll wait until my primary care visit in Branson.

I missed itblast night, Mint, but will try to see it tonight. Never did get that nap so I think I will go to bed and watch the Thunder and Hornets play basketball.
Zetta, hope you're getting unpacked and straightened up. Don't work too hard. Boise is a big city. Are you all living in town?
Just watched a really interesting show on OETA called "Back in Time" about the Green Corn Rebellion in Okla. I took Oklahoma History in school.but it wasn't in the book. Never had heard of it.
Talk with you all tomorrow. Good night.

HB, the sport coat is a "just because" great grandson likes to wear them to church. He also wears a tie. I've given him a ton from my late DH. This kid likes to dress. His older brother is a senior at the U of Alabama and he also likes to dress. So he got a care package this week that included a really nice shirt and some $. The manicure venture and shopping were successful. TJ Maxx to the rescue for a 13 year old who wears a size Zero. She was very timid about picking things out, so Nana took the bull by the horns. An off the shoulder knit dress with a CUTE sweater for modesty, a velvet-feeling sweatsuit set with a crop top jacket and 2 cute T's, another couple sweaters. And a necklace. Dark chocolate sea salt caramels for her Mom, Gummy Bears for Dad and brother. A text from Mom saying the outfit for return to school Monday has already been selected😎.
Ron, I am with you on the Wild Wings. Meh. But, my grands like it too.
Mice: DH claims he "heard" one in the pantry. I have seen no evidence. But why not??? since he leaves the hall door open to the garage almost daily? I'll spray some peppermint today and the pest control people came yesterday so we informed them. Crops are being prepared for harvest and nights are getting cooler so …. here we go.
Lorita, glad you are getting better. Wish it was quicker.
Zetta, I do not envy your unpacking but excited for you to be in a new place.
GG, have fun!
Judith, the Thanksgiving plans sound fun. I'm trying to figure out if we can go camping and miss the hoopla here. 😏
Mint, the moon here was glorious. I'm heading up your way soon to my daughter's for a quick visit. I'm planning Flu shots the Monday before the trip.
Eagle, hope things are getting better.
I hear DH at the coffee pot and today is a haircut for me and the final great grandkid shopping day. Which is a good thing, because after all this shopping, I'm broke🤣.
Have a good day everyone and be safe.

Good morning.
I just learned that Monday will be Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day, these holiday seem to creep up on me.
GG, enjoy your reunion weekend!
JeriLynn, it's nice that you can enjoy shopping and making care packages for your great-grandchildren.

good morning
JeriLynn that’s nice that your like to dress nicely. Where I go very few dress up. But there’s one interesting young guy he not only dresses up, but he seems to be an older man at heart. I call more vintage than sharp. But I do like it that he doesn’t care to be different.
Hope you have a nice trip when you come to Ohio
7° here in my part of this morning. It’s our first morning of being in the 30s. I’m not seeing any around my house.

Good morning! Dog going to groomer today, then we go get groceries and to Starbucks to pick up "grounds for your garden." "Grounds for your garden" are their used coffee grounds. Instead of putting them in the landfill, they bag them up and anyone can walk in and pick them up for free. I mix them into my compost. I enjoy having them; they are a good source of nitrogen for the compost; now I just need carbon for my compost. Carbon will be leaves, soon. I also use shredded paper. Trees are still green here for the most part.
JeriLynn, so generous of you to pick up clothing and sweets for your sweeties! You are a good mother and grandmother.
We had rain last night along with thunder and lightning. We also had rain most of the day Monday. That's good for the new grass seed…we had aeration with over seeding a week ago. We also seeded some bare areas and that grass is coming in nicely.
Lorita, feel better.
Ron, feel better. When you said you were getting a pneumonia shot, I said to myself, whoa, that's not annual, is it? I looked it up. 1-3 shots provide lifetime immunity. However, "If you get pneumococcal vaccines for the first time at 65 or older, you will need two shots, one year apart. If you've had only one pneumococcal vaccine in your lifetime, you may now need an additional shot. If you had the pneumococcal vaccine before you were 65, you may now need one or two additional shots." Makes me wonder if I had my first one before age 65. Guess I should check on this. It's a little complicated to check because I have had 3 pcps in recent years, all in different health systems. (My husband said I'm picky about drs. Darn right I am! A dr. can make the difference between life and death.)
I got 125 bulbs planted the past two days. Mostly tulips. It will be nice in the spring.

The only coat and tie I see around here is old men on Sunday. We think we're dressed up if we wear button down shirts instead of polos or T shirts. Or clean overalls.
We are gradually easing into autumn but not rushing it. We are having lows in the 50s but highs in the 80s, so it really doesn't seem like autumn. Warm and DRY.
I'm treating my car to an oil change today, will probably renew my driver's license afterward, and do chores around the house. Just a quiet day.

Morning.
Everyone's been busy it seems. Seems like we've been from one doctors office to another. I'm thrilled to report DH's coughing is so much better. This is day 15 on prednisone & I believe he has 10 more days. The neck issue is an issue. He has figured out that if he does the one exercise he has to do surprisingly, his neck is a bit looser!!! Imagine that.
He has PT this morning. That's where all of my time has gone I believe. Appointments and PT. Need to jump in the shower before I take him to PT.
Let's everyone be safe.

Everyone at the ready for canning season???
0 -
Morning, Carl, when I got my license renewed a couple of years ago I.got a temporary paper until it came in the mail and I don't have to renew again until 2030!.
Feeling Still a little better today, thanks. Hardly any pain now and I am getting stronger..
Bradley brought antibiotics in granular form and feed to mix it with for Billy. He was in the barn but came out when I called. Gave him some hay and he was ready for it. Broke another Bale and carried about a fourth of it to the yard for layer. He is really sweet. His shoulders are almost as tall as i, 5'6". Darwin called last night to see if I knew a plumber. The sink in his guest bath is broken and he said water wss everywhere. I called ours but they were closed. Called Jeremy again this morning and he will take care of it. That's my morning.
JeriLynn, you are a really good grandmother. I haven't shopped for clothes in a store for many years but by watching QVC I know they ate expensive..
Beth, coffee grounds are good for soil and I have heard you should put eggshells in the ground around roses when you plant them. Do you do that?
Eagle, Glad your husband's cough is better and that the PT is helping. I know that makes you feel better, too. I will need to take the GPs to a groomer in Spring to cut their hair short. Got the name of one from a woman waiting at the vet's office but it's 30 miles away. One of the girls at the clinic gave me another name that I hope is vcloser. I dread that.
Mint, when I was young people dressed up to go to town, gloves and high heels. Now you see people dressed any old way. Mike says people come to the clinic in pajamas. When I went to work at the VA we couldn't wear pants.Several years later we could wear pant suits but the tops had to be fingertip.length. Times change- for the better?, not always.
Ron,never been to Buffalo Wings. When I see them piled up on a platter I think of those poor chickens. If you get a dozen that is six poor chickens who gave their lives.- just a vegetarian writing and a soft hearted person. But I know they are popular.
Judith, what are you going to can? My canning days are over but I am thinking about making some apple butter. To me the kind you buy has too much spice.
Back later. Enjoy the day.

Lorita I forgot to mention - the Red River Rivalry is this weekend. Since neither team is in the Big 12 they don't seem to make such a big deal about it. What I do know is that the sports reporters say if TX don't win, the coach is out. Apparently the alumni are very unhappy with him right now, and another loss won't sit well. I believe the games at 2:30 tomorrow.

Speaking of figs, I bought some dried ones at the store today. I'd never eaten one before, although I've had fig preserves/jam in the past. The figs taste good. Very sweet, similar to a date.
Eagle, I'm so glad your husband is doing better. Sorry you have so much of your time taken up in driving to and from appointments. Saw this on FB: "They say you will travel more when you retire. What they don't tell you is it will be to doctor's appointments." True.
Judith, I do not can. I never learned how which is unfortunate. I don't want to expend the energy to learn now. Who here can can? (lol)
It's another beautiful day today. Warm, not hot with a breeze.
Fancy clothes? Not needed much here. On occasion I'll wear a dress to church but usually wear slacks. It's almost like I don't need any more clothes as I have lots and mostly I wear casual things like t shirts, shorts, leggings and sweatpants around the house. Add a hoodie when needed.
GG, enjoy your anniversary of your graduation! So fun! I have always enjoyed ours. You'll look great in that gorgeous dress. Do you only wear black?
Zetta, enjoy your new city of Boise! I'm sure the climate will suit you well.
Iris, glad you are feeling better. Any trips coming up?
We are going to a Catholic church fish fry tonight - yes, in October!
Beth
2 -
Have a good time st the fishfry, Beth.
GG, your dress is dramatic. So pretty. Have fun at your reunion. I only went to my tenth one.
Side is hurting some this afternoon. I pulled that 85-90 lb. Bale of hay across the crib floor, then carried the hay yo the yatd. Also carried three mineral tubs, two in one hand so that is the reason. Sometimes I don't have enough sense to come in out of the rain But, wish we had some. But, you know, someone has to do these things.

Lorita, you asked about use of eggshells in my garden. I only have two rose plants and I do nothing special for them. I apply compost and mulch around all my plants.
When we use eggs, I wash and microwave-dry the eggshells and then grind them up with a mortar and pestle. I place the powder into my compost.

Good idea, Beth. Watered and fed Billy. He seems to be walking better but there's ten days of meds, nine to go. Seems like I'm giving medicine to someone all the time, but that's okay. I need to get in soon and get some creep feed for him.
Ordered groceries to be delivered between 7 and 9 in the morning so I'm Ready to go in and watch TV a while, then sleep. Hope you all sleep well. Good night.
