    Good morning.

It's a beautiful morning here. This afternoon temp will be mid 90's again. The weatherman said it will be this way for the rest of the month. Yikes! So much for fall here.

I have quick errand then plan on hanging with DH. He's in a good mood (but that's normal) and just see what he'd like to do today. I see a car ride in our future!

    Let's be safe everyone.

Morning, makes me sad to have a tree taken down. I had them leave a big stump about thtee feet high when they took the big elm down. Hated to do it but was afraid it would fall on the house. What about the bees, Judith?

I just learned something this morning I wish I hadn't. On America's Test Kitchen they told how sugar is made They use animal bones, forget why, maybe to make it white. He said you can buy organic sugar of some kind that isn't made that way.

Had groceries delivered this morning so put Billy in the lot. Just went out to tell him to come out to eat his feed and medicine. Looked like he had kind of a hard time getting up, hard to get his front end up or he was reluctant to get up. You all know cows get up opposite of the way horses do, right?

Don't forget the Red River Rivalry today. Eagle, which Conference did the Longhorns go to?

    Good morning.

    Could Billy have arthritis too?

Beth, in California the state health department has an office that keeps track of what vaccines we have been given. I found this out at my municipal health department when I went for advice about travel vaccines. Apparently doctors are supposed to record which vaccines you have been given. This goes back about ten years or so snd is very helpful. You might see if your state keeps vaccine records.

Carl, lady at the VA mentioned if I didn't mind the drive, I might enjoy the park board org northview center.

I googled them and noticed they have a lot of activities that I might enjoy. It's only 30 minutes from here, which I've been driving futher for VA appointments and test. I believe its worth me checking into next week before I start going stir crazy.

Could be, Iris, both of my Pyrenees have arthtitis. Cows get up with their back feet first, then the front. It probably hurts his foot to have all of his weiight on it. After he's up and walks a couple of strps, he does better. Got him out of the cowshed/ barn and he ate the feed with his meds in it and some hay. There were several cows and nine babies watching him. I think most everyone is in the barn by n ow because it's getting hot.

Our weatherman said September was more than seven degrees above normal this year. More than one degree higher than last years elevated temps.

Ron, when it gets cooler I bet you'll get more often You're in such a pretty area.Be careful driving. By the way, are you enjoying your new car? Like mine,I know it is probably a couple of years old but, to me, that is new.

Ron, that's a good idea. I go there several days a week for lunch and conversation and sometimes play Bingo and participate in an exercise class. Monday is a holiday so there's no lunch, but the center will be open otherwise. Lunch is at 11:30 Tuesday through Friday. I will be tied up most of the week, but plan to eat lunch at the center on Thursday. If you don't go before Thursday, why don't you meet me there at 10:30 Thursday? I'll help you get signed up and show you around.

Lorita, my new car has been a lifesaver driving around Springfield. It's nice to have a car that will tell you all your turns and which lane to be in before you have to merge into traffic.

Carl, im looking forward to meeting you Thursday at 10:30. Ive been looking over the activities and see several i would enjoy. I went to a senior center in Fair Grove, but did not see much activities except lunch.

I still have not heard anything about my pulmonary function test, which I believe is a key part of exactly to what extent; along with the high resolution CT scan, my pulmonary COPD/Pulmonary Fibrosis has advanced.

Ron, I'll plan to see you Thursday. It's expected to be warm and sunny, so I'll be the man in the white Panama hat. The senior center is part of a large building in Doling Park. There are two entrances on the west side of the building, and the entrance to the senior center is the northwest entrance. You have to climb steps to the southwest entrance, and it isn't the one you want. If by some chance I'm not there, just go inside and see the lady at the reception desk.

How exciting that Carl and Ron will meet on Thursday!

I'm glad Billy is moving better.

I've been working on trying to get to bed earlier but so far I'm not having much success. I'll keep trying.

It's after 4 and I'm watching The Golden Girls. Went to sleep about 11 but the GPs wanted out about 3:30, third night in a row. Let them out, came back to bed, and heard them barking to get in. Stormy came in but Sheena was at the back so went back through the house, then heard her at the front. It has became a game with them. I heard dogs barking in the distance, probably why they wanted out.

Thanks, Iris,I'm glad Billy is getting better, too. Eight more days of medicine should do it.

I think it's great that Ron and Carl will get to meet, too. Anxious to hear about it.

Guess I better get back to sleep. Alarm is set for 7 a.m.

You might check if your area has a bee swarm line (it is a little late in the season for our area and our line is down for the year) BUT they may be able to remove your tree bees. Or if you have a local bee keeping club they may be able to help with no cost to you.

Morning, I must have slept through my alarm because the phone ringing awakened me st 7 :18- Darwin calling. Ingot out if bed about 8:40. Had breakfast, gave Billy his medicine and some hay and put a loaf of bread in.

Ron, if it does work out for you and Carl to mert, please have someone take your picture together and then post it so we can all share in the meeting.

Iris, I have always gotten up early because I had a distance to drive to work by 8 a.m. After and before retirement we had cattle to check and feed so it continued. Now, in my golden years I have begun to get up a little later. But, early mornings are the best part of the day. Good luck on getting up earlier.

Watching Denim & Co., then Baker and the Buccaneers later.

Sandy, I did get very vanilla Boost. Not neatly as good as chocolate but will freeze it and it might be better. I know I need it right now. Hope this special day goes well.

    Good afternoon.

I'm just touching base. I'm up to my eyeball in MIL troubles. To calm down I went out to trim a bush and was immediately stung by 3 wasps. (I'm blaming her!) This woman is something else. She threatening to travel here & call the police for a well fair check on DH. And you ask why? Because he won't speak to her on the phone. That means I'm the mean one. Oh the stories I could tell. But I won't. I'm so stress since I can't trim my plants I'm going to ride the recumbent bike!

Let's be safe everyone. Back later when I'm in a calmer frame of mind.

    Good morning Front Porch Rockers.

Lorita. Sorry to hear about Billy's foot, hopefully 🙏 its better. I also am thinking that Molly, might have a bit of arthritis. I'm trying to get some weight off of her, thinking that might help her some. Is the medicine helping Sheena and Stormy? You asked if we live in the town of Bosie, we are on the outskirts, close to Micron Technology, that's where my SIL works. In Arizona, he had to drive in a lot of traffic to get to work, could take him 45 minutes to get there, here it takes him 5 minutes and no traffic.

HB. That is a good picture of your son and the dinosaur, that would be a big surprise to me also if I turned the corner and saw that. Mice? I don't like, I have not seen any, maybe because I've always had cats.

GG. I hope you enjoyed your reunion. You sound like a person, who enjoys gatherings. Me not so much on gatherings. Lots of people, get in my way. 😏 I'm not a social person.

Beth. My health care provider, reminded me that if I want to get a phenomena shot or a shingles shot, there will be no charge to me. I'm 79, does anyone think that's a good idea. I'm a pretty healthy person? I also need to find a new doctor 😫 I want one that specializes in seniors.

    Hugs to all BBL, Zetta

BEES…THEY WERE VERY KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT THE BEES. IT WAS A THREE DAY PROCESS TO REMOVE AND RELOCATE.

SET MY ALARM AND WAS READY TO GO TO AN APPOINTMENT BY 8:45. CHECKED MY EMAIL AS ALWAYS TO MAKE CERTAIN I STILL HAD THE APPT AND SAW THAT TODAY WAS SUNDAY..APPT IS ON MONDAY… SO I HAVE A WHOLE DAY TO USE UP ANY WAY I WANT.

CARL/RON…BE CERTAIN TO POST A PHOTO.

I'm back Molly needed to go out side.

Eagle. I'm glad your DHs cough is better, I bet your both real glad. Did the doctor, have any idea why his neck has issues? Sometimes mine hurts because of the way i slept.

JeriLynn. I remember when I was a kid, my grandma would buy me school cloths, my mom had a hard time trying to raise 3 girls, and being a single mom. My grandparents also owned a resort on the California, coast in Jenner. When I got old enough I would wait tables during the summers and buy my own cloths. Your a good grandma and your grandkids will always remember that. I have fond memories of my grandparents. 🤩

Carl and Ron it touched my heart to know the two of you will be getting together. I loved Loritas idea of seeing you together in a picture. Hopefully that happens.

Iris. I have always been one to go to bed early and get up early. As a kids others wanted to stay up and watch TV. I always got up early so I could watch cartoons. As a adult, as soon as it gets dark I'm ready for bed, in the morning my coffee pot makes my coffee at 5:30am I'm usually up by 6am.

We just pretty much finished the unpacking. Now we need to find a guy to come haul off all the boxes and paper. So far i love the Bosie, weather. It's raining right now. I love rain.

Now my DD, and I are going to see how close we are to a Starbucks. ☕️ ☕️

Eagle, I'm sorry for your MIL troubles. A man in my Alz support group had the same problem. His wife couldn't speak, so her out of town relatives thought he was forbidding her to speak with them and called the elder abuse hotline. He had social workers in his house investigating three different times and had a mini-stroke each time from the stress. That bike is a good idea, get that stress out!

Zetta, I have had the shingles and pneumonia vaccines. I had a mild case of shingles several years ago, before the shingles shot was available, and my PCP advised both vaccines when they came out. We are about the same age; I'll be 79 in November. Shingles is pretty uncomfortable and can even occur in internal organs and be a serious illness, so I certainly advise you to get that shot. Pneumonia can land you in hospital or worse, so I was glad to get that shot also. CNN says the President got his covid and flu shots with his recent physical, and he's 79 also, so there's another recommendation for vaccines.

I am a proponent of vaccines. A little girl was crippled by polio within 100 yards of my home during the epidemic of the early 1950s, and so many children were ill in my hometown that the hospitals set up tents in the parking lots, but my brother and I had our shots and were passed over. My mother was one of the women who collected money door-to-door for research during the Mother's March on Polio. That experience has biased me in favor of vaccines. Plus, I find I do better when I do what my doctor tells me to do. If I could comply better when fried chicken and chocolate cake are passed around, I would be in pretty good health.

I was going to get the shingles vaccine but I had s cortisone injection in my knee two weeks before so couldn't get it. I have had shingles on my left shoulder area. Light cases because I sought medical help..Got meds for it and it didn't last long but I can Still feel "something weird " in that area.

Carl is right about internal shingles. Our vet has had the blisters around the waist and internal ones. The blisters are gone .but still has some pain. The doctor told me the shingles virus is always present in your body and it can happen anytime. About ready to call it a day.

    Good night, sleep tight.

Eagle, how awful to be stung by wasps! I got stung once when I was a child, they made a paste of baking soda and that relieved the pain.

    Zetta, enjoy your rainy Boise!

Greetings from the nor'easter. We're on the edge where it's mostly drizzle and 20mph winds. It should clear out by tomorrow morning. We didn't get the forecasted significant rain here which we could have used.

Jerilynn— It's nice that your boys enjoy looking good. Neither of mine have much interest in fashion. That said, most days that he works, DS wears a 3-piece suit with a shirt and tie. Finding clothes in a "size 0" isn't easy. I'm glad you found some nice things. I enjoy the hunt at a place like TJ Maxx but haven't been too lucky there lately.

Gothic G— I hope the reunion went well. Did you get many compliments on the dress?

Zetta— Do get the jabs. You don't want shingles. Both DS and DH had them. They sometimes are triggered by stress. DS developed them when he transferred schools and then DH got them when he took over tutoring DS in math after insinuating that I wasn't doing a good job. My bestie's son-in-law broke out in shingles the week they brought the new twins home.

Lorita— It's amazing what wasn't in textbooks when we were kids. I hope you're feeling better. It seems like Mike's team should be doing most of the hauling you are doing.

Judith— It's not that the app is meant for problems, it's that you can adjust settings depending on the circumstances. Like in a restaurant, you can mute the noise from behind so conversation at the table is easier to hear.

    Bummer about the elm.

Ron— I hope you get a follow-up with your pulmonologist soon. It's interesting, mom's function tests are never reported in the portal either. Add me to the list of those delighted that you and Carl are going to meet up in person. That's pretty cool.

I've never been to a Buffalo Wild Wings. It doesn't sound like my jam. I rarely eat at chains. The town supervisors don't tend to approve them here. They did grudgingly approve a Chik-Fil-A, Capital Grille and an Applebee's in town, but we tend to go with local places.

Eaglemom— I'm glad the PT is helping although I don't envy the time out of your schedule to make it happen. Mom got a lot out of her balance PT but it about broke me on top of everything else.

Your MIL sounds a little cra-cra. Why would she need to come to town for a well check?

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

Busy week for me. I see the dentist at 11am for a crown and filling replacement which I dread. I liked my old dentist better, but this new guy seems much more skilled. But I still don't want to. I have the landscape guy coming to price out removing a half-dead cherry laurel and prune my Japanese dappled willow. Since I might not be here, I sent him (and DH) photographs of the plants in question. DH thought the browning peony was the "dead bush". They're due to be trimmed, but I want to move them, so I haven't just yet.

Tomorrow, I see the ortho for a consult. DH wants to come, but he may need to be here for the carpenter instead.

I hope all have a pleasant day.
