Living as dependent

My mother and I live together as her early onset Alzheimers gets worse. I am still considered her dependent, and as an added bonus have severe disabilities as well. She will not let me talk about finances with her. I dont know how to approach this the right way, because I have nowhere else to live if she went to memory care.

You could probably consult with a lawyer for options, and getting DPOA and HIPPA accesses. Since she is unwilling to discuss, sometimes a lawyer can get a LO to agree to a statement even if we can't.

There is also alz 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900 - and hopefully more folks will have other suggestions.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this.

see if your Mom has a Case Manager or Social Worker through her doctor or insurance. They should be able to help. Or contact your Agency on Aging.
