Good afternoon.
I think we need to stow the pitchforks. Malp has been a member since 2023 with around 17000 visits. This was their first post. My inclination would be to assume this is a long-time lurker who accidently copied it. If something malicious was going on, it probably would have happened when they first joined.
Iris— Those are some great pictures. Keep 'em coming.
Lorita— I'm so happy to hear you are feeling better. I'm with you on some of the prices. Chocolate is expensive right now for a lot of reasons but $9 for a rice cake? That's crazy.
Beth— That sounds like quite the workout.

One more appointment tomorrow and then a quiet week to follow. My surgeon said I was doing well enough to skip my final post-op visit unless I wanted one. I asked about my scar and he thought it was healing nicely. He said it sounded like allantoin was irritating my skin and to try silicon scar sheets for a couple months. It's not so much that I am especially vain about my legs, but fabric rubbing against it is unpleasant. This wasn't an issue last time.
The tech who did my ultrasound was so much better than last time and it was a limited scan so quicker. Yay! Here's hoping I'm done with follow-ups on this.
I stopped at mom's on the way home. Her breathing seems better. We trialed her on room air and she was 91-93 which would be acceptable to her pulmo. I would dearly like her off her POC. Her hearing aids are back. Seems Costco replaced them with new ones and gave her an additional year on the warranty for the price of batteries. Seems more than fair but she can't get them until her appointment Wednesday.
I hope all are having a pleasant day.

We're looking at elephant seals. They're here resting after giving birth and preparing for their sea migration. They also molt on land on the spring. They do not eat or drink on land.

Beth - Good work at the gym!! That's a lot of stuff to do.
I've been using the gym at my mom-in-law's independent living facility. It's limited, but is doing the job while I'm here.
Iris - You know, I've never been to Solvang. My mom and my aunt really liked going there though. I'm loving your photos.
That's a great photo of you brushing the miniature horse.
How far north are you going?
HB - A Syrah that tastes raisiny. I guess I've had a couple of Syrahs that could be described that way. Interesting description.
I'm glad everything seems to be headed in the right direction in your neck of woods, doctor wise.
Judith - I travel like you do. I can live out of one bag for a month (and have). It just means spending an afternoon at a laundromat at some point - which is always exciting if you don't speak the language.
Lorita - I'm glad you're starting to feel better - and that you got rain!
Nothing much going on here, except I'm enjoying the Charleson weather. Mid-70s and sunny - I can't complain.

First Baby of the season has arrived today! A little bitty girl.
Daddy is Black Star, Mama is Betty.
Baby’s name is OOPSIE, because she is an oops! Blackie made his way through the fence for a date with Betty🤣
She was born while we were in Scottsboro delivering Easter fixins to my BIL. She’s already been cleaned, has nursed and is wobbling around the stable. Mama is speaking to her in a soft, low voice and baby is answering. New life is beautiful to behold ❣️

Oopsi is beauiful. New life is awesome. I remember I cried the first time Charles and I pulled a calf.
Your pictures are great Iris, Love the one of you and the horse. It's almost like we are on the trip with you. Thanks so much.
Thank you all, I have felt pretty good today. Just found MASH on METV, one of my favorite shows.
Billy is staying in the barn and corral. He is flat eating hay. Grass is pretty good but he isn't going out to graze. Guess that's okay.
You all sleep well tonight.

I'm itchy again! Took the small cedar boughs from under the PU.hood, them replaced them later. Guess I will use the grab-it next time. Those things are awful- don' t get close to cedars for a while. These are Eastern Red Cedars, I guess but we have two or three kinds. These are really sticky.

Iris…thank you.

HB, you and your mom are doing better, yea! I hope your mom can get back to requiring only room air, it'll be easier on you both.
Oopsie is so cute!
GH, where the elephant seals were at Point Piedras Blancas, which is near the Hearst Castle, is as far north as we go. We just visited Harmony, a hamlet of eighteen residents. There is a lovely blown glass workshop, a pottery workshop, an ice cream shop and a wedding venue.
Welcome to Harmony!
Harmony—a great place to begin a marriage.
Now we just finished a dinner cruise on Morro Bay, chartered by a woman captain and a woman chef. The food was delicious. The sea was calm and we saw many sea otters and some boaters crewing. Morro Rock is an extinct volcano. Peregrine falcon eggs were placed into incubators to preserve the species as they were going extinct from DDT making the eggshells too fragile.

Now we're going to our oceanside hotel at Pismo Beach.
Good night.

Good morning. It's warm and overcast here today.
I'm enjoying the pictures of Iris's trip. I love the one of you with the cow. She's very fancy.
Jerilynn— Congratulations on Oopsi. She's adorable.

Iris, those pictures are fabulous! I've only been as far South as Monterey and Carmel. We did do San Fransico, Bodega Bay and a couple more while I was working in Fairfield, CA.
We will arrive in Palm Springs around May 1st on our month-long trip. How far is that from you? We'll only be in Oklahoma City for one night on our travels West.
Oopsie is fine this morning. She scampered out the stable into the adjacent pasture all by herself, poking her nose to the fence to meet the other Nannies. Mama was right on her tail, lol.
Busy day today. Daughter arrives from Ohio. Great grands coming to see the new baby. DH and I are cutting grass (3 acres here, 1 up in Huntland), and I've got the beginnings of Easter going in the kitchen. And the patio to finish cleaning up before Saturday.
Oh, and deliver an Easter basket full of dark chocolate to my Aunt with dementia. She loves dark chocolate.
TTYL, have a good day everyone.

I’m sorry, I’m MALp, I did not try to start a thread..I was trying to find this one! I was a member back when Lolita started this. Never posted much but this site was a lifesaver for me when caring for my husband. Diagnosed in 2009 and passed 2018. I have continued with this thread since. Remember a lot of you and enjoy reading. Again sorry for the mixup.

Good morning.
I'm off with Madison to the vet for her 3 yr old check. I can't believe she's three already. Although she just ran through the house with one of my socks, so there is that…………….
Back later to catch up. Let's be safe everyone.

Morning, no problem, Melp, just glad you have reconnected with us. Welcome to the front porch - will look forward to your posts.
Dark and cloudy here with storms and rain predicted this evening and night. Hope it is just rain. Need to move my rain gauge because the limbs of a maple are growing longer and keeping rain out. Darwin always gets more than us and that is probably why.
Still itchy this morning. Will need to avoid cedars for a while. I noticed a few small ones along the driveway I will need to cut- later.
Just heard an F-15 is down in Iran with a two man crew.

Malp, welcome. You have now found the correct place to post - we call it Lorita's front porch.
We have had 2.1" of rain this week so far. We are expecting rain and possibly severe storms tonight. Nothing going on weather wise right now, but we hurried around to get to the grocery store before 8 a.m., and then I went to the gym - going early to beat the storms. I came home and worked in the yard. Moved 3 hostas and put down some grass seed. I have a couple of blueberry plants I need to move - need to figure out where and then can do that.
Iris, your travel stories and photos are wonderful! Glad you are having a good time! Thank you for sharing.
JeriLynn, the baby is adorable. Little goats are so cute.
Happy Easter everyone!
Beth

I apologize for getting upset about your post. I did not understand at the time, that it was simply a mixup.

Happy Birthday, Iris!! I will make an angel food cake or.chocolate if you prefer. How about some ice cream!
Really looks stormy here right now. Reminds me of a film we watched in grade school. It wss going to be stormy and a woman was taking her.clothes from the clothes line before the storm hit..
Went out and moved the rain gauge to a pipe on the corral fence, then gave Billy hay and sweet feed. Stormy enjoyed going to the barn with me. I'm not at fighting stength.yet but getting there. Opened a carbon of Boost and one of Moist 'n Meaty and watching a little of Wagon Rain for a bit while I rest. Those cartons are hard to open so I use a bread knife.
How is Oopsie today? I think it is so sweet how new moms take care of their babies. The girls keep them very close for 2-3 weeks, then they let them lay around with other babies. I have seen a dozen babies laying together with the bull babysitting. Always a baby sitter around.
Air is heavy and must be full of pollen because I'm really itchy after being outside. Maybe the rain will help get rid of the pollen.

Happy birthday, Iris🎂
Looks like we're in for some of that wind and rain too, Lorita. It's warm, cloudy and windy today, and will be much cooler tomorrow after the storm line passes through tonight. We expect at least an inch of rain and I hope we get it.
I took DS to the podiatrist this morning and then to lunch. We're invited to my SIL's and niece's place for church and lunch Sunday.

Happy Birthday Iris!
Lorita, you talking about the lady taking her clothes off of the clothes line reminded me of days gone by. Two boys in cloth diapers, clothes line full of freshly washed diapers, big storm blows up and knocked the clothes line down. Diapers on the ground covered in mud! Poor Lou!!

Thank you all for the happy birthday wishes!
Judith and Lorita, a birthday cake with ice cream will be fine. Please feel free for everyone to enjoy. I will still be on an excursion to see a light show. I won't be home until after 10.
We're on our back from visiting the Clydesdales.
A 26 year old Clydesdale—average lifespan is 25 years—he is in good shape for his age.
A pregnant Clydesdale—expecting any day now
Mama and 15 day old filly--babies weigh 170-200 lbs at birth.

Such beautiful horses!

Happy birthday, Iris! I actually made a Chocolate/Peanut butter cake today. I'll save you a slice! It has peanut butter as well as Hershey's cocoa in the cake and the icing is peanut butter, confectioner's sugar, milk and vanilla.

Ron, that was hard work washing and hanging diapers to dry. When I was growing up we took clothes to a laundry and then hung them out to dry. Remember when it was freezing and the clothes froze and were stiff when you brought them in tone them thaw. Those were the good.old days even with that. I'm drying clothes in the dryer now but normally drape serapes over the back porch railngs to dry.
Iris, those Clydesdale are beautiful. I have never seen one but my patents had a team of Percherons when I was under five. Had my picture taken on Bess with my legs straight out to the sides . Daddy worked the farm with those horses until he got an AllIs-Chalmers tractor Hard work for him.
Gosh, that cake sounds so good, Beth. Love chocolate and peanut butter together.
Carl, they have issued a severe thunderstorm watch just west of us. We will get ours about 9 with a flood watch. Stay safe, everyone.
