Thank you for the birthday wishes!

We had a rest stop in Paso Robles. A few of us stopped at Goodwill and picked up a few goodies. I found several books. Since we are traveling by bus, I don't have to worry about the weight of my purchases coming home.

We visited the Estrella Warbirds Museum which features vintage military planes and helicopters and other military artifacts, also vintage cars and racing cars.

    1000005938.jpg

We had a wine tour and then dinner at this winery. Carl Eberle began the first winery in Paso Robles and began the wine growing industry in this area. We were able to meet him and wish him Happy Birthday.

Our dinner was held in the wine cave.

The winery gave me a birthday candle and everybody sang Happy Birthday

Now we are at the light show, waiting for the sun to set.

We are back from the Field of Light at Sensorio. Apparently the best views are down on the mile-long walkway and we were on the terrace. Several of us went on the walk, but I did not walk. Here are a few pictures that I took. If you want to see more, I understand there are videos on YouTube.

Afternoon Iris, what a wonderful.birthday! Those lights are amazing.

It rained from about MN to around 6. Haven't been out to check rain gauge but it looks muddy in front of the corral. It's cloudy and cool.

    Good morning.

Ron and JeriLynn, thank you for the birthday wishes.

Lorita, the weather here is sunny and bright.

Judith, we are at Avila Farms. Sort of a big farmer's market. More to follow.

JeriLynn - OMG, the cuteness of Oopsie.

Iris - About traveling north .. I was wondering because of the elephant seals. I thought you might be at Año Nuevo state park, in my old neck of the woods.

Those horses are so beautiful. And the light show! Amazing!

    Happy Belated Birthday! 🎂

We had a fairly busy day yesterday. My s.o. and I toured a couple of assisted living apartments that are opening up. It really is time for his mom to move there. Much discussion ensued.

We also went into Charleston and strolled around. We went to the Market and got lucky: we got all the spice mixes we wanted. The woman who runs it is wonderful.

Last night we went to the nice restaurant on campus. The menu was all fairly meaty, so I ended up having pasta. Funny, it was the only vegetarian dish, with the exception of a house salad. A friend joined us for dinner, she's a great raconteur so the conversation just sparkled.

Today we have to go get shoes for my s.o. His dress shoes disintegrated in his mom's storage area. They just kind of peeled apart - I've never seen that happen to a pair of shoes.

I've just been loving this weather. It's been in the low 40s at home, but the mid-70s here. I almost don't know what to do! 😄

Again Iris thank you so much for taking us on another trip with you. And your birthday trip also. It looks like it was wonderful. I'm so glad that you can 'blow and go' like you do. Keep it up.

We had quite the rain storm last night. Now its cool and grey with north winds. Very odd for this time of year. I needed a jacket to take Madison out this morning. I'm sure its cooler for you Lorita.

I seem to be moving slowly today. I need to get busy here. I'll check in on everyone later. Let's be safe everyone.

Avila Farms has a large market with fresh fruits and vegetables, a wall full of honeys, jams, nuts, and breads. But my companions and I didn't get to the market section because we were entranced, along with the many children, by the petting zoo animals.

There was a big grassy area for kids to have an egg hunt.

Then we waited on a long line for ice cream. Then back to the bus.

Now on our way down to Camarillo.

Eagle, it is cooler today, low 60s and sunny now. We had almost 2" of rain so that makes about 3.5" in the last week or so. Things are so green the air seems green and our farm name is true now.

Iris, I bet the petting zoo was fun. I used to have a friend who raised emus and sold Blue Emu cream.

GG, are you a vegan or do you eat dairy products and eggs-:-lactate-ova, like me? I eat very few eggs but love all dairy products. My parents had a small dairy when I was young so grew up on raw milk and homemade butter.I use a lot of unsweetened almond milk now but also regular milk.

Just discovered Rawhide and. Wanted, Dead or Alive is on MeTV!

People in California love cheese. All forms of agriculture are important in this state, including dairy farming.

One thing that increased my travel pleasure was using a paper map ftom AAA. I liked to review it frequently to see where we were or are going.

Now we are at Cracker Barrel, home of good eats and good gifts.

Eagle, how often do you have Madison groomed?. Time passes fast. How old was Madison when you got him? When we had Barclee he always looked so cute after his haircut. i would like to have another ShihTzu. Stormy and Sheena liked Barclee a lot. He came up to their knees and could walk under them.

Has anyone been to Cracker Barrel Restaurant?

    1000006146.jpg

    There are rocking chairs.

    1000006145.jpg

And a jam-packed gift shop for goodies.

Also country food. I had fried catfish with turnip greens and cornbread. I'm stuffed. Now, back to my regular menu.

Iris, When I was in Louisiana Cracker Barrel was one of my main restaurants to eat at. It was at the west end of Shreveport off of Interstate 20. I love the chicken fried steak with greens, beans and cornbread and a cold glass of ice tea.

I eat at Cracker Barrel when I travel, but seldom when I'm home. I live quite near a CB, at an I-44 exit, but haven't been there in years. I think I stopped going because DW didn't like crowds and it is a popular place.

We expect frost tomorrow morning. Typical weather for an Easter sunrise service!

Lorita - I'm not vegan — that's too strict for me. As it is, I eat salmon on a regular basis, but that's pretty much the only fish I eat. I only eat that because it's so good for brain health, and I stay away from other animals. I'll eat dairy products and eggs, but I've been tapering off the dairy products because I feel better when I don't eat them.

Iris - I saw a documentary about dinosaurs (a long time ago), and the scientists were trying to figure out something about the walking and running gait of some of the theropods. The scientists decided that emus were the closest living animals that might have a similar gait. So they tried to get this emu to run in a straight line. Hahahahahaha. Didn't happen. But it was entertaining and they did get some good numbers.

Judith - I don't have a rebounder but my bestie does - she loves it. I've been thinking of getting one.

You know, I don't think I've ever been in a Cracker Barrel. I'd probably like it.

A Happy Easter to those who observe.

Ah, Cracker Barrel. Aside from fast food, it's probably the only chain DH and I eat at. The food is good and not like what most places around here offer since diners have become so scarce. We don't get there often as there isn't one especially close. I especially like that it is the one place I can get a decent cup of tea.

It foggy and cool this morning with rain predicted. My niece's massive Easter party has been postponed. This works well as I can drive mom next week and spare her a $150 Uber each way. It works well for some other folks who had to turn down the invite but can make the new date. Now niece has to assemble another 8 baskets for the kids attending and fill more eggs for the hunt. She goes all out and even got her DH a bunny suit as part of the entertainment.

Since mom has no party to attend, I've invited her here. I'll be making pizzas since it's DS "cheat day". DS will have a pepperoni and the rest of us will have white pie with spinach, San Marzanos and mushroom. I'll finish with a strawberry shortcake. Ironically, a ham would be a whole lot less work.

    Happy Easter!

HB, that pizza sounds better than ham to me. I'll take a slice of each.

Ron, the Cracker Barrel in Springfield is at the Glenstone/Highway H exit on I-44, one exit west of US 65.

I have heard that Cracker Barrel was started by one of the oil companies, adjacent to gas stations as a way to bring travelers off the highway and sell them fuel. It's a good place to eat and stretch legs when driving.

    Good almost afternoon everyone.

Cracker Barrel around here is very difficult to get to. It's like the line - you can't get there from here! If your on the freeway heading south you can just get off. But for its a pain for me to have to go north 8 miles to then go south to get there. The only other way is various turns, underpasses and traveling through sketchy neighborhoods. But now I want to go to Cracker Barrel. Maybe next week.

Lorita it really depends on what length Madison's hair is as to how often I have her groomed. Right now she's in a long coat so probably every 12 weeks. I brush her almost daily and I also give her baths in between. I need to get her an appointment for her summer hair cut! Such a diva!!! She's excellent for grooming, brushing and her bath. She loves the attention.

HB I'll take a slice or two please. That sounds wonderful. Your right, a ham is much easier!!!

We're just hanging here. I see games this afternoon & I'm going to put DH & Madison in the car to go walk the loop at the park. My knees are awful, but I've got to try, and frankly DH needs to walk Madison. I can watch them the entire loop. Fresh air will do us all good.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe day.
