Hope everyone has a nice Easter. Beautiful day hetr sunny and not much wind.
Eagle, Barclee loved his baths, too. We need another Shih Tzu. Stormy would like that. He still goes to the place Sheena liked to lay on the north side of the house in the shade, looking for her.
This is Charles' 94th birthday so a sad day for.me. Guess I need to get out with the.girls.but they are still gone so I will go see Billy and let Stormy explore the barn.

Happy Easter to everyone who observes.
Earlier today I was looking at a photo gallery on The Guardian of Easter celebrations around the world. One of the photos that struck me was a celebration in Jerusalem at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre - I remember going there in the early '90s and lighting candles for my grandparents.
We had a very nice brunch at my mom-in-law's facility. The food was great (including deviled eggs). Then we looked at the little reservation cards on the tables … The top half of the card had our name and the time of our reservation, then there was a line drawn across the card, and below that was the name of the party after us. (!!!!) They couldn't spring for the extra card?? My s.o. and I thought it was really tacky. His mom thought it was just fine. Still. Great food, great company, no complaints. Just the card. 😄
Tonight the movie is Annie Hall, so we'll go and watch that.
HB - Your pizza sounds really good. Save me a slice. 🙂 I'm sorry your niece's massive party has to be rescheduled - that's a big headache.
Carl - Interesting about the origins of Cracker Barrel. An analogous place in California is Knott's Berry Farm, which started out as a roadside stand that sold berries. They still sell boysenberry everything, but it's also a fairly large amusement park.
eaglemom - I second going out into the sun and fresh air.
Lorita - I'm glad the weather is good for you today.
Days like birthdays are always bittersweet. I didn't realize that Charles was almost ten years older than you.

Sorry to hear your sister is worse and that your daughter's mother in law is in the ER Judith. Hope.both improve.
I just read my last post- the first part did not make sense. I do proof read but my tablet still changes things. Sorry.
Took down trash and fed Billy hay and grain. Took the cedar from under the car hood and now my hands are itchy. Did use the grab-it except for two pieces that I couldn't reach with it. Stormy explored while I fed, then went with me for a little ride. He is so afraid I'm going to get away from him.

Is this over the top?

I think so. Getting ready to go to bed and watch tv a while. Sleep well - Good night.

So many people like Cracker Barrell, but I have bad news about Cracker Barrell. A few hours after we returned home, several of my travel mates came down with food poisoning. An hour later I joined them. I was up all night long attending to eruptions. We didn't eat the same foods, so we believe the contagion came from inside the kitchen. What a terrible way to finish an otherwise wonderful trip! I haven't eaten in 24 hours, just taken fluids. Tomorrow I should feel better.

Good morning
Iris, I hope you’re feeling better this morning. Food poisoning is no fun, I was sick one time for three days from sea food.
Two appointments this morning; VA for audiology and hospital for pre surgery lab, chest xray and EKG.

Good morning.
Sunny and cool the next 3 days on my end of the porch. I informed DS that this is peak lawn mowing conditions. I figure the swales will dry up mostly by Wednesday.
Iris— I am so sorry you're feeling ill after your trip. I hope you're soon on the mend.
Personally, I would cast aspersions on Cracker Barrel given that you had different meals. Food poisoning can show up hours to weeks after an exposure depending on the offending bug. I would be side-eye the petting zoo as well. And then there's the concern of norovirus from the congregate nature of sharing a bus for days. When DS was in high school, his marching band went on a performance and educational tour of Argentina that was impacted by norovirus. Out of 135 students, 112 became ill. Six were sick enough for the RN on the trip to send them to the ED. Unfortunately, the logistics of moving the kids contributed to the spread— they flew on 3 planes from 2 different airports, then got sorted onto 4 buses for a 4 hour drive to a hotel where they shared 4 to a room for 2 nights.Judith— I hope your people are feeling better. Were your Easter plans canceled causing you to feast on a weenie? That's even sadder than pizza.
That video is some crazy AMSR. I suspect it's more about that than selling organization.
Lorita— Ugh with the cedar itch again. Poor you. Would it help to wear gloves of some kind when under the hood. My skin is pretty reactive, so I wear nitrile gloves in the garden at the very least. Sometimes I even put work gloves over them.
Ron— It sounds like you're on track for your surgery. I hope the tests don't result in any curve balls and that you don't have to waste much time waiting around. You're scheduled for next week, no?
What's the plan for recovery? Will you be overnight in the hospital? Will you be able to come home or will you have a rehab stay? One can never tell these days. My friend's DIL had 3 stents done in her legs and was overnight for 3 days; I got a new knee and was home in my favorite chair by 5pm.
Eagle— I hope the three of you enjoyed your walk in the sun. I need to walk more and should add it to my rehab plan as getting back into the park is a goal. I'm hitting my PT goals in terms of flexion/extension but am woefully out of shape. I walked around the block last week and really felt it. There's a house being rebuilt after a garage fire and I wanted to check out the progress. It had been a 1986 brick center hall colonial (same builder as mine but larger) and the new look is a perfect update. They got rid of the brick facade for stone and swapped out windows but it still looks like it makes sense where it is. So many other folks in the neighborhood have leaned hard into modern farmhouse with varying success— some are great and some just awful.
Gothic G— That's pretty clever of your DH to keep some things at his mom's place cutting down on luggage.
The multi-party table card is weird. I wonder if they do this as a reminder for groups to not overstay the time allotted for their reservation. I'm seeing this more and more. The first it happened was the last time we went out for NYE on NYE— when the reservation was made my friend was told it would be 2 hours. The server stated it as well when she introduced herself. That makes sense on a busy night for a large group, but now I see the local tea houses are specifying a 2-hour slot for tables for afternoon tea.

Next time I'll make enough virtual pizza to go around. I'll even provide wine and beer and Wild Turkey for Ron.
Dinner was nice. A ham would have been so much less work. I'd forgotten yesterday was the anniversary of dad's death. Mom thought that was why I invited her; I got credit for thoughtfulness I did not deserve. She was happy to come over and for once, DS (who drives if we had wine) didn't rush her out the door for a change. After dinner she was very self-focused. She was complaining about her poor sleep. I asked her if she was still taking the magnesium (no to that) and following the rules her pulmo/sleep specialist gave her (she said yes but I know she lies about this per her Bi-pap app and Apple watch. She falls asleep ok but then wakes in the night (often leg cramps— see magnesium above) and starts thinking (anxiety) and get get back to sleep. Reading isn't an option because of her vision, so she just lies there.
I suggested she mention this to her psychiatrist next week. She was put on Prozac by her PCP over 30 years ago which is just crazy. She might need a change of some kind but she's very resistant to mentioning it. The psych did say I can call with any concerns (I suspect mom has some MCI happening, but psych doesn't) anytime and I might just do that or go in with her.
I don't have anything except a little laundry today. Ah, bliss.
I hope all have a safe and pleasant day.

Morning, sunny and cool here. Iris, so sorry you have been sick after your wonderful trip. Hope you recover soon.
Good luck on your appointments today, Ron.

Good morning
Ron how did you know it was an imposter. I will need to be more careful. See Iris said I posted on wrong one.
i enjoyed the pictures.

Good morning.
I have no more eruptions, but I have no appetite. I'll try later.
Ron, I hope your appointments go smoothly.
HB, we all got sick within a few hours after our lunch at CB. This is being reported to the local Health Department and I sincerely hope they can find the culprit.
Mint, I noticed that the false thread was not started by Lorita. Also, the real threat already had several postings and the false one was a solo posting.
Lorita, the Clydesdale ranch had a driveway at least two miles long. I know your own driveway is long. We had to travel to the barn on a trailer pulled by a tractor.
Everything there was so green and clean and refreshing. Actually, it was kind of a mini-culture shock for me to arrive back into the city, with all the houses and all the traffic.
Anyway, I have to get back to my routine, because I have a lot of work to do. I have another trip coming up the end of next week.

Glad you're getting better, Iris. At least you became ill at the end of the trip, not while away from home.
That 2-mile driveway reminds me of the fellow who was bragging that his ranch was so large that it took him 30 minutes to drive from the house to the gate. The listener said "Yes, I had a truck like that once."
I had a pleasant Easter. DS and I went to church with my SIL and niece, then ate turkey etc. at their house. Nice day, like today, mid-60s and sunny.
Mint, that extra thread wasn't really an imposter, just a new poster joining our thread. We could tell it wasn't our porch because the thread wasn't started by Lorita.

Iris— I hope that whatever this is is identified and corrected. Were people in the group tested (stool and/or blood tests) to determine what kind of food poisoning? Symptoms can take a few hours to weeks— it could have been another restaurant. DS's elementary had an outbreak of such symptoms after the PTA hosted a petting zoo at the spring fair. I think it was determined to be salmonella. So glad we skipped the fair.
Mint— I was pretty sure it wasn't a troll. The poster had visited the site over 1000 times over 3 years, why would they wait until now to mess with us and what would they have been hoping to accomplish?
Good one Carl.
My bliss turned into an afternoon devoted to finding mom's missing hearing aid. Correction, a Costco's loaner that costs $300 if lost. She was certain she lost it at my house. So, boys and I scoured the house and driveway. I drove to her place to look as her vision is terrible and if it was on the Persian rug in her bedroom, it would be extra hard to find. I found it in the cushion of the chair she watches TV from where she often drifts off to sleep. Phew.

Iris, so sorry you got sick on your trip! I hope you will soon be back to your usual self so you can enjoy your next adventure.
Ron, best wishes on your upcoming surgery.
Judith, I am sorry about the ill persons in your family. Not the kind of Easter anyone imagines. I, too, wanted Arizona to be in the championship game. Nonetheless, I'll watch tonight and I will be rooting for Michigan.
I've been working in the garden/flowerbeds a bit the past couple of days. I refreshed the mulch, moved hostas, started a new compost pile and did some weeding. Very soon we'll need to start lawn mowing - we had 3" of rain last week and expect more this week and the grass is growing.
GG, it sounds like you are enjoying your trip. I hope things work out to get your S.O.'s mother into Assisted Living. It will provide relief with her having help and oversight. I'll bet you are liking the warmer weather in SC.
Lorita, I know you miss Charles so much. Days like this are especially hard.
Mint, sorry your nephew's truck driving job didn't work out.
Carl, your Easter sounded nice.
Have a good week everyone.
Beth

Just saw Jackie and Shadows two baby eagles. Since they hatched the same day, maybe both will survive. I don't think the Tulsa hawk's eggs have hatched yet..

About out of power so will say good night, sleep tight.

Iris - Yikes! I hope you're starting to feel better. Food poisoning is no fun.
Ron - I hope your tests all go well.
HB - Maybe it's me just being Italian, but I don't think pizza on Easter is sad. I'd love it.
My s.o. and I always have clothes in every port. At the height of our commuting (SFO to SeaTac and back), he had clothes in three places, including Charleston, and I had clothes in four places, including Charleston and my dad's place two hours away from SF. Occasionally I'd lose clothes, but at least I knew they were in one of four places. Weird times.
I'm glad you found the hearing aid!
Carl - I'm glad you had nice Easter. It sounds really nice.
Beth - it sounds like you're getting your garden ready for spring. I'm jealous of your green thumb.
The weather in Charleston has been great. I'm loving it. I'll be glad to get home, but not to the weather. At least it shouldn't be freezing when we get back.
We're having ups and downs type conversation with my s.o.'s mom. Stressful.
One thing I have discovered this trip? I am just way too old to be sleeping on an air mattress on the floor. 😄

After not eating solid food for 48 hours, I attempted a bowl of oatmeal, so far so good. But I have had a headache since yesterday, which is probably from dehydration. All my joints are aching. I'm pushing fluids.
Our tour leader said she would make a report to the local Health Department. I'll check in a few days.
Two new eaglets, how wonderful! I hope they can grow.
HB, I found a pair of stud earrings loose on my carpet next to my bed. I have no idea how they got on the carpet, because I had not worn them in years and all my earrings had been put away. Or so I thought. 🤔
How fortunate to find your mom's hearing aid, they are so small.
Beth, do you feel rejuvenated after working in your garden?

I want another Great Pyrenees puppy or under a year old, female. I will call Kate in the morning. Maybe she knows of one nearby, perhaps where I found Stormy. He needs a companion.

Good morning
Pre admission is over, now to wait for show up time Friday for Monday surgery. I asked if I would go home same day and nurse said she didn’t know, but with my lung problems, I might want to plan on staying and if I get to go home that at least I’d be prepared.

Good morning
7 ducks on the lawn, under the bird feeder eating. We live on a 3 acre pond. I love watching the ducks. It's all males now. I imagine the females are on their nests. Last spring they brought their babies to eat here. So fun to see.
Iris, I feel a sense of fulfillment when I get my yard and garden tasks completed for the day. I feel great joy and fulfillment when the garden is full of bloom! You may recall we lived in a house with the backyard nearly all garden, until we moved in September 2024. Our yard is smaller. The soil in the existing (vegetable) garden was poor. When we moved in, I put down a lot of compost. The soil is much better now. I do make my own compost and it's a great soil amendment.
Lorita, you must follow your ❤️

Morning, hope everyone is well, or better, this morning.. Partly cloudy and cool here.
Talked with Kate at our local shelter. She is still looking for a Pyrenees puppy but hasn't found one . I checked other shelters , same thing. She had some a while.back so there is hope. I asked her about the man where I got Stormy and she said she doesn't think he has Pyrenees now. She agreed talking the ten month old male would not have been a good idea. Maybe she wIll find one for us. We think either a puppy or young female will.be best.
I ordered my caladiums to be here mid month. I had one yellow tulip last week. Used to have.honeysuckle everywhere, around the yard fences and the driveway but looks like the drought did away with all of them - hate that.
Saw Billy out grazing early this morning but probably back in the barn now. The girls have been gone almost two weeks so they won't be home for a couple weeks. Darwin said be thinks he saw them yesterday. Last year they spent a lot of time across the road from him.
He called this morning to tell me his County Comm. (we live in different counties) dropped by his house this morning to tell him they are going to replace a nearby bridge today. Good because they took out the old one a couple of weeks ago. It's on the road north between our farms so it's been a long detour without it if you need to go north.

Ron, I'm sorry you need surgery but since you do, I'm glad it's finally happening.
I'm having to detour around my usual route too, Lorita. They are working in the National Avenue underpass under I-44 and I have to use the Glenstone overpass. It's that time of year, warm enough for road work.
Gardening is good. Good for the body, good for the soul.

Thanks everybody. I need to remember to slow down and take notice. Seems like i am always rushing
1 -
It's that time of year, Mint-.don't worry. I know what you mean though. How's your mother?
I have been trying to get through to OPM for two days but they can't take calls because of.being too busy. Guess they have gutted that Govt Dept., too.
Ron, what are they going to do Monday?
0 -
I finally feel back to normal today after the food poisoning and dehydration. Now, back to work!
Ron, you might be prepared to have some help at home after your surgery if you come home the same day. It may take you a while to recuperate. Don't try to tough it out.
Where I live we have street constructions, so I have to remember to avoid those streets.
The weather here is lovely, mild, with clear blue skies.

Carl, my Son and DIL work right off of 44 on west division street near the airport.
Lorita, Monday is when I’m having surgery for severe cervical stenosis with spinal cord compression at c3/5. It’s amazing how much they have advanced in procedures. I had surgery at c5/7 back in the eighties. Then they take the disk out, measured the distance, grounded a cadaver bone to fit and knocked it in place with a mallet. Now they will remove my bone, grind it up, put it in a cage and insert it back where my own bone can grow and replace the one they removed.
Iris, my son is taking Monday and Tuesday off and my granddaughter is off on Wednesday, if I need more help I’ll just relax on Lorita’s porch until my grandson is home from school. I still don’t know if I’ll come home the same day. The nurse yesterday told me she didn’t know, but with my copd, pulmonary fibrosis and right side diaphragm paralysis, she would think they would keep me. She said be prepared to stay and if they let you go that would be treat for me.
I’m more anxious to being able to get out more after recovery period. Since the pneumonia I have been very selective about getting out and being around others.Ron
