@harshedbuzz Fancy took her last bottle at 8:30 pm and slept until 3 am so she did very well! During the day I feed her colostrum every 2 hours. She graduates to powdered goat milk today at every 4 hours per the instructions BUT she’s on the small side I’ll feed her every 3.
She and Oliver snuggle in my lap together for naps ❤️

    Good morning.

Great news Ron. You'll rest better at home.

I'm off to the dentist for a cleaning. Back later to catch up on things.

Jerilynn— Your lap naps with a kid and a kitty are a little more exotic than mine ever were. I'm glad she slept well for you.

Ron— I hope you're home and taking it easy. Waiting on the last "t" to be crossed and your wheelchair-ride can seem to drag on.

I did my taxes this afternoon and used it as an excuse for DS to take mom to the dentist. Sending 2 ADHDers off on an errand is always a leap of faith. Last time he took her to the infusion clinic, he found the place but she told him she didn't recognize it. FTR, she's been there weekly at least 9 times at that point. Poor DS sent me a picture of the building and asked if it was the right one.

Today didn't go much better. I explained to him where it was. He drove to the small complex where the dentist has his new office (mom's been there at least 3 times) but mom wasn't sure which of the 3 different dentist's offices hers was. DS asked her what her dentist's name is and she said "Young James". No last name. Backstory: mom's dentist is the son of my DH's first lab partner (Jim) as a new hire. Jim invited DH for holiday dinners when he was new to the area and DH tutored his son (Young James) in his organic chemistry class a couple of times. Evidently mom doesn't know his last name.

Hi, very quiet day here. It's cloudy and windy. Storms predicted for tonight, tomorrow morning and again Friday. Spring is a pretty time in Oklahoma but the storms are not nice.

Jud fed Billy and Stormy explored. Haven't heard from Kate or Mike about a Pyrenees.

Ron, hope you're home by now relaxing. Will look forward to hearing from you.

I just spent a good hour going through Last year's receipts and deciding what to keep, shred or ink out. Now my back is hurting. Guess old age has gotten me. Be careful tonight if you're in the storm area.

Good to know, Lorita. My dog Sugar was a terrier and she had to DIG! Her full name was Sugar and Spice, because she was so sweet!

Thanks Judith, Italians do have an interesting history.

    Good night now.

Forgot to mention something about price imcreases. Price. Increase in fertilizer is bad for farmers who ate getting ready to plant and for ranchers who will begin spraying and fertilizing pastures and meadows soon. Mike said fertilizer that cost $200 a ton a couple of years ago now costs $400-600 a ton. That with the cost of diesel to fuel farm machinery and trucks will really be higher so everything will be more expensive to compensate for fuel and fertilizer costs. Maybe victory gardens will make a comeback.. Darwin has already set out tomato plants.

JeriLynn - those baby goats are so cute. Each one is cuter than the next.

HB - So jealous of your 80 degree weather. Today we were up to 45 with rain. My weather app said it was 45 but "feels like it's 34". I can vouch for the "feels like 34" temp. Man. 😄

I hope your DS was able to successfully get her to the dentist.

Lorita - I went to go get gas today - it was over $5 a gallon!! We're never much over $4. I bet it's over $6 in California.

We filed our tax extension - as we do almost every year. For some reason we can just never manage to meet this deadline.

Other than that, we've been doing a lot of house stuff that needs doing. I'm working on finding someone to replace some of our windows right now. I want to at least have the ball rolling before we take off for Charleston again.

Kind of quiet here, which isn't a bad thing.

Home and resting, took over 4 hours between the time Dr said I would be released until I actually was. Having trouble swallowing and wasn’t able to eat very much at hospital, but hopefully in a few days I’ll have better luck getting solid food down. I know after one of JerriLynns babies sits in my lap and loves on me I’ll be up and about in no time at all.

Ron, while swallowing is hard, it's important to have good nutrition for healing. Make sure you have at least 4 cans of Ensure or similar every day until you are back to eating real food (unless your surgeon told you something else).

Judith, those kids warmed my heart! The adult goats look jealous, they want to jump too!

Ron, how are you with swallowing liquids? Do you think Thick-it would help?

Iris, I’m ok with liquids a little at a time. Jello, pudding, boost and even soft food very small bits. I’ll probably go with oatmeal this morning and maybe try some eggs this afternoon not overcooked. I do need to drink a liquid after very small bits.

    Almost forgot, Good morning everyone.

Soft rain last night. Wonderful sunshine this morning.

Time for a phone update. Looking at another iphone…17e. Any advice.

Ron, so happy you're home and doing okay. You might try cream of wheat and also applesauce. I had a lot of those things plus juices a few weeks ago. You need to stay hydrated. Take it easy and rest. Judith those babies were so cute. What fun they were having with moms watching.

We had storms last night. Darwin called about 1 to see if I was okay. He said we had really high winds. His power was out. Carol called this morning. A tornado went through the South part of her town with damages. More storms today, tonight and Friday. Really dark and windy right now..

The thunderstorms arrived here about 1 AM. We didn't have any damage, but it was and is pretty windy. More rain tonight. Some towns in Kansas and Wisconsin had tornadoes and large hail before I went to bed, and I dreamed about tornadoes while it thundered and rained, but we were fortunate.

One of my friends at the sr ctr told me she is a "celebrity" now. Drury University is having a ceremony and they are honoring her as one of the oldest living graduates. I guess we all get famous if we hang on long enough.

Lorita, the lawn service that sprays my lawn with weed killer and fertilizer has added a $5 fuel and fertilizer surcharge to their bill each time they come. Like farmers, they buy that stuff by the truckload and the war has increased their costs. As our leader says, "Iran the prices up."

Carl, I love your last comment -so true. Once prices go up they hardly ever come.down.

We and most of the southern and Eastern part of Oklahoma has just now been placed under a tornado watch. Storms would get here about 8. If the line of storms stay together instead of splitting into individual storms it will be better. We had 1.5" of rain last night and the road is flooded west of our mailbox even with the new culverts.

The news showed pictures of tornado damage last night and huge tees were completely uprooted. One house owned by an elderly lady had a Couple of huge trees fall on her house but she was okay.. That is what worried me about the huge elm outside the kitchen window. I hated to but I had it taken out last summer. I did have them leave a three foot stump where I.put a Couple of flower pots. It's at least three foot across. Luckily there is a new elm, I think, growing behind it that is probably seven foot tall.

You all be careful tonight if the storms reach you. My weather radio just went off telling about the tornado watch.

Good morning. We had record heat yesterday here (90F) and odds are today will be more of the same. Next week we'll have a few days of below seasonal temps; I'd hoped to meet a friend for lunch al fresco next week, but I think we'll need to reschedule.

Lorita— I hope you and your critters made it safely through the storms last night. You, too, Carl (and anyone else in harm's way)

Ron— I hope you're feeling stronger and sorting out your diet. That said, a nice plate of scrambled eggs is a fine thing for supper.

    _______________________________________________________________

Yesterday was supposed to be quiet for me. Tuesday night DS's glasses snapped so we needed to sort that out. They were pretty old and he had donated his old pair to the Lion Club. Our eye doc was booked. I couldn't even get him in to be seen at Costco. We ended up at a Warby Parker which was different. He found a pair he liked, had an exam and we were back on the road in less than 20 minutes. It was reasonably priced as well— he paid about $265 for exam and glasses. They'll mail the new pair within the week. His vision isn't that bad, and he can wear his vintage Ray-Ban aviators for driving if needed until then. This isn't a bad option for a younger person with an uncomplicated prescription. Plus, I found a really cute blue pair for me that exactly match my irises— I might need those or maybe I'll make them a birthday present.

I got the Ulta "Mother's Day" catalog yesterday. It's full of all kinds of interesting (to me) things, but they haven't included prices except on a couple of pages that are headlined "Under $30", etc. So weird.

It's a reminder that I have to sort out something for mom for Mother's Day; I kind of phoned in for her birthday which was a couple days post-op. One thing girl doesn't need is glasses. (FTR, I was going to get the bottom pair for myself, but she poached them and rarely wears them. Grrr) I suspect 2 of these might have been my dad's.

    image.png

When I asked her why she has so many pairs, she claimed her sister gave them to her. Here sister is constantly trying to pass on her hand-me-downs to mom, but prescription eyewear is a hard no for me. They're 88 and 90 and still have the WW II ration mindset. FTR, she was wearing another pair when I took this.

She sees the pulmo this afternoon. This appointment is a combination of a follow-up for her Nov post-hospitalization follow-up, her March post-hospitalization and her regular checkup. It's the rare trifecta. I still suspect her current breathing issue is more cardiology, but we'll know more after her echo in May.

I need to figure out dinner. I have some lovely short ribs but I'm thinking tomorrow might work better.

    Be well-

HB, your mom has a lot of glasses! I especially like the colorful ones; maybe you could sneak them out of her stash. I have a pair of purple frames and two that are red, but some brown ones. I have 6 pair of glasses; my reason being they are readers and I put some in every place I might need to read. I also have 5 pairs of sunglasses but clear and dark safety glasses for lawn mowing.

Dinner? Leftovers here. I have some baked chicken and some spaghetti.

Ron, glad you are doing as well as you are. Praying for you.

Off to the gym. Mondays and Thursdays are my intense days.

We're fine here. We were under a tornado watch and the thunder was loud but the main storm passed to the north. Lorita, hope you're OK.

The sr ctr is serving beans and greens and cornbread for lunch. I enjoy that as much as anything, so I'll eat that for lunch and one of my mail order meals for dinner.

HB, your stories about your elderly relatives are very helpful to me. Whenever I think about remarriage, I read one of your tales of dotty old women and it passes.

Beth, those leftovers sound really good. When I cooked for a family, I often baked two chickens at a time to guarantee leftovers.

Morning, all is fine here. Storms were soon of us and.North along the Kansas IIne. There was lots of lightning and thunder. All I could think about was Sheena didn't have to be afraid of thunder anymore. When it thundered she would come and sit by me. I think her first owner left her outside during a thunderstorm when she was a puppy and she got scared and never got over her fear.

Glad the storms weren't bad for you, Carl. Your lunch sounds good to me, too.

HB, I never saw so many pairs of glasses for one petson. Does your mother wear all of them?

Dark and cloudy here and a little cool. No storms until late tomorrow. I need to take care of my charities and lay some tiles in he kitchen this afternoon. My back and knee I injured almost 60 years ago is bothering me today. I did put on a knee sleeve so maybe it will help. Or maybe I could take a nap!

Ron, I hope you are well on your way to recovery today. Hope you feel like posting later today.

    Beth, enjoy your workout today.
