I lost my mother thirty years ago ...

Right away I found that sharing my story online helped me begin to heal. I started a website in her memory that is still around, although it is in need of updating, and I'm trying to work on that as I have time.

It's still here: https://www.zarcrom.com/users/yeartorem/

Also, I will be walking this fall for my 29th year in memory of my mother in the Walk to End Alzheimer's.

As i saw my DW advance further, the truth of what was actually taking place was finally understood. I wrote a story of our life from childhood until that point at which she was still with me and suffering the disease. It helped me a lot to craft that document but then the final moment arrived. It was shortly after my DW went to her rest that I wrote an epilogue to make sure others knew her story through the end. My mission remains to protect and preserve her story, her life and her memory. Writing helps me and leaves something for her future generations to know her better. I am not a journal person but writing poetry to her and now, about her and our life over the past 60 years, is part of my personal therapy.
