A rare positive report :)

We successfully took my mom on a mini-vacation to the beach this weekend! I certainly had my concerns about taking her out of her AL for that long and bringing her into a completely unfamiliar environment, but overall she did GREAT, and I'm so glad we were able to do this.

She definitely had times of great confusion and times of anxiety, but we had a whole team of people (my husband and I, my brother, my sis-in-law) to help, so I think that made a difference. We also basically catered this whole trip toward her needs, rather than trying to make her adapt to our agenda.

People had cautioned us against doing this trip, but I do not regret it at all. I feel like based on her progression, this is probably the last time we will get to enjoy a trip like this with her. I will always treasure the time we had this weekend.

I just wanted to post this as a way to encourage others who might be on the fence about traveling with your LO — only YOU know what they can and can't handle, and if you think you can pull it off, it can be successful and rewarding for all!
