Ice Cream

Hello, I live with my mom who is mid stage 6. Her *new behavior* is troublesome. I need to know if I should just let it go. Every night after we go to bed, I fall asleep, but she is up many times through the night...eating ice cream. I woke to 6 bowls in the sink and 2 empty containers in the trash =1 whole gallon this morning. I've tried not keeping too much sweets in the house, but last time we ran out of ice cream, she ate a whole bag of chocolate chips. Do I just let this go. I have to pick my battles. Is too much ice cream worth it? She isn't diabetic...yet...she isn't getting enough exercise (Not that I don't try), but is maintaining her usual weight. I live full time with her. I do not have 'relief' I am here 24/7.

My mom's doctor told me to make sure she is getting enough protien and vitamins but otherwise not to fight. At this point she qont eat anything thats not sweet. I buy her a ton of protien drinks like glucerna and boost. She loves them. I also try to get low carb sweet snacks like Fiberone bars. My reading has informed me that sweet cravings is a normal part of the disease and nobody really knows exactly why. I hope my response helps some. Hang in there.

Your problem here might not be so much that she is eating ice cream, but that she is up so much and up unsupervised. Please mention this to your doctor.
