When you take care of family members with AD,what can cheer you up or bring back old happy memories?
Hoping to receive some kind answers to help me out! Wishing we will all have a better tomorrow!

Hi Mia - welcome to 'here', but sorry for the reason.
I know that MIL is not the same. not at all. All we can do with her to get her smiling is to go with the flow of what she may be in the mood for on any given day. Sometimes it is an old TV Show or movie, sometimes the music she liked (oh, gee, mention Conway Twitty), and sometimes just letting her reminisce (albeit the confabulations can be incredible!), but just agreeing with whatever and getting her into a good mood is a good thing.
She no longer remembers who is in photographs, nor even who I am, so we just do what we can.

Sadly I think the memories are yours alone now. That does not mean that you cannot still have an ongoing bond with your grandfather. Be with him. Love on him even if/when he does not know exactly who you are.
The time spent will in the future, become a part of your memory book.

Maybe you can make new happy memories together. Is there a favorite food you could share with your grandfather? My MIL loves ice cream.

You may want to find some Teepa Snow videos. She had tips for what an extrovert might enjoy vs an introvert.
