New here, are there any books aimed at the person who has dementia?

Hello, I had the slum test and was found to me on the border of mci and dementia. Thyroid test and b12 test came back normal range. Waiting on diabetes and will have an MRI on Friday.

I am wondering if there any books you can recommend that are directed towards the patient and not necessarily the caregiver. I found a lot of books for the caregiver but I would like to know what to expect. What I can do when certain things come up. How to deal with the grief and prepare for when I no longer remember.

Welcome to this online support group GGS. To answer your question, there is a book by the name of Living with Mild Cognitive Impairment. I believe I read it at one time.

What I have discovered is that I learned the most from my peers and from the caregiver members. I had a diagnosis of cognitive impairment not otherwise specified for many years. Following Best Practices helped in my functioning and prolonged the early stages.

It can help you to ask questions here, also to make contact with your local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Ask to speak with the Early Stage Coordinator for advice and support. Please read alz.org and come back here when you have questions or comments.

Somebody i used Know by wendy mitchell, Alzheimers Carry ON by jane diovonel +sky yardly ( very good),Aliceheimers-alzheimers through the looking glass by dana walwrath ( a must have for all). i find getting to know other people on the dementia road essential.
