Morning, Carl, I saw that label but couldn't make sense of it. Will try later today. Still lots of snow around.
The telephone guy (landline) has been here twice. I stillhave one but discovered it wasn't working. I don't use it but have kept it, just in case I lose my cell phone. He just called and it works now. I found it would be quite a lot cheaper to just have two lines with consumer cellular.
Thought I was having the beginning of a diverticulitis flare so made appt. with my doctor for tomorrow but am better now, so will see what tomorrow brings. Will stay on liquids today. That should get rid of those last five pounds to reach my goal.
Great news, Iris. I think I may have seen the story about Oreo. More great news for the dog and owners.
Weather just said it was three below zero a year ago today. It was 20 here last night. Backlater

I saw the story about Oreo, and one about a planeload of shelter dogs that was flown to Washington to seek new homes and make room to house lost dogs in LA until their people find them.
Our snow is pretty well melted here, some on the lawns yet. I took DS to get a haircut yesterday, today got my other laptop fixed, washed the salt off the car, took DW to the clinic to check for UTI, picked up a little bag of fresh food. Haircuts for DW and me tomorrow. And to the gas station again, after all this running around.
Diverticulitis is bad. DW had to quit eating raw strawberries because the seeds aggravated hers. That would make me cry, but she doesn't miss strawberries as much as I would.
Gotta go, TTYL

good morning
thank you, Iris
JeriLynn hope your granddaughter is still doing OK and improving hopefully.
Lorita I hope all is OK, I don’t believe you posted yesterday. If you did, I cannot find it.
it’s in the teens this morning instead of single digits but they’re giving one to two more inches of snow. I’m not complaining about that.
I made a dish yesterday that I’ve never eaten before and it turned out being very tasty. I made chicken schnitzel. It’s one of those things where you pound the meat out. Then you dip it in flour, dip it in egg and then you dip it in Panko. I think it’s the first time I’ve ever breaded and fried stuff that it didn’t make a mess. I had no mess. The breading stayed on the chicken as it fried. The lady I watched make it was a good instructor.

Good morning,
Thank you Mint, and each of you who sent up prayers for the granddaughter. She did indeed come home yesterday. We drove up to Nashville to fetch her. They stayed at their place last night, but we both encouraged them to stay here while we are away on our trip. The BF was receptive and so was dear GD. It's supposed to be brutally cold here starting Sunday. I have really talked to her about the need to rest. She seems to understand and promises that she will not hesitate to return to hospital if needed. We've reviewed her discharge instructions and she is able to repeat back to me signs and symptoms to be alert about. I'll text or call her every day while we are away.
Schnitzel is awesome!
Today is a return trip to the attorney for DH. Finally, to get his will completed. Also, the bi-weekly trip to Scottsboro to deliver food to the BIL before we leave on our trip. And, finish packing and stocking the RV. I always take too much.
All the babies are fine. The newest one is a light brown with cream markings. Just adorable. His mama is very intimidated by the more assertive goats in the herd, so we put her and and baby in a pasture alone with shelter. I'll try to just go sit down there today with everyone and see if I can get her more relaxed and talk to the others about being nice. I know that sounds crazy, but - well, it is what it is.
Hope everyone has a good day.

There was a small brush fire that was quickly put out. Firefighters continue to search for and put out hot spots, also they are clearing brush that is close to buildings. The winds are low now, but strong Santa Ana winds are expected to return next week. All of LA County is under a fire watch.
Air quality is better with fewer large particles of ash, but there are finer particles in the air. Nevertheless, zi see few people donning masks.
Inspection of damaged and destroyed areas continues for dangers and searching for missing people. The authorities expect evacuation orders to continue for at least one more week, but one of the county supervisors declared that that's too long a wait! Power and utilities are still out is several areas. Santa Monica's evacuation orders have been lifted.
Some residents videoed their evacuations so first-hand and real-time experiences are available online.
Volunteer, nonprofit and government assistance for evacuees continues.
There is a resource for free mental health counseling for is available to people of all ages affected by the fires.
calhope.org
There is a daily update with officials every morning at 8 am. This is where I get most of my information. If interested, you could probably find it on the internet.
I will be going out of town tomorrow, so this will be my last update regarding the fires. I hope I will have internet access where I'm going, if so I will post.

I said I wouldn't be posting for a while but this is important, what I just heard. This is why evacuees cannot return too quickly. A house in the hills that was undamaged by the fires has split in two, because the foundation was damaged by water. The house above was totally destroyed and apparently a mudslide was created which shifted the foundation of the unburned house below. I don't know if all the houses will have to be reinspected for shifting foundations. This is hilly and mountainous ground, so the vast amounts of water used will trickle down slowly. One more disaster!

Thanks, Iris. What else can happen out there?
I got out and about a while this afternoon. Saw my doctor and got some Flagyl in case this progresses. Picked up groceries and filled the car with gas. Took care of a little business. The town wasn hoppin', getting ready for the cold weather and enjoying the pretty day.
Started out one direction from home and there was a big truck blocking the road so tried another way and it was okay. When I got home noticed Susie, a RWF cow who lost her baby two years ago was laying down, then getting up so knew she was trying to calve. Watched her a while, then called Mike. He was out on a two hour farm call but said he would call Bradley. He got here and located her a quarter mile south of the house and pushed her to the barn. When I lost track of her Ib called a neighbor south of me and he told me where she was so I could tell Bradley. I could not stand her being out in the pasture and needing help. I will check her every Couple of hours or more often if need be.
Judith, what kind of peppercorns were you trying to find?Hope you found them.
Enjoy the rest of the day and tomorrow.. Well, Bradley and I were wrong. Mike and Sidney just left. He examined the cow and she has a UTI and isn't bred. I can't remember ever hearing about a cow having a UTI. Must have been very painful the way she was acting. Good that he treated her.

Mudslides, downed power lines, hot spots that could flare up. There are good reasons to stay away from the evacuated areas in LA. Iris, I'm glad to hear you're leaving for a while.

Late night check in for me. I've never heard of a cow having a UTI, oh the things you learn on the porch! Just having the medicine should be good peace of mind with ugly weather coming. I hope you don't need it Lorita.
Iris thanks for the update, survive the fire & then a mudslide. Unbelievable, but yet its happened.
PT will wear you out. I'm glad that you took a nap David.
That's all folks, the bed is calling.

Saw an ad on TV for a motorized gadget to rock you while you sit. I always said if I ever retire I'll sit in a rocking chair and, after I've rested up, rock a little. But I refuse to buy a tool to rock it for me. Even my laziness has its limits.

Good morning
Judith what interesting peppercorns did you find? I’ve only ever bought boring black ones.😊
We will be missing your report, Iris. Yes, landslides were a huge issue two in the mountains of North Carolina. I always say North Carolina, but actually South Carolina eastern Tennessee and Southern Virginia were also affected just not as an extensive area I guess.
Ron, hope you find some help for your neck pain.
we probably had another inch or so of snow yesterday. We’re having a normal Ohio winter this year.
Went and saw mom yesterday and she is starting to think she owns the place now. L O L. There’s been several times lately where she told me she’s going to do certain things just like it’s her home. It’s nice I just can laugh. Yesterday, when I went to see her, and she left to go to the restroom, the lady who sits with her a lot told me your mother does not like them telling her what to do. I said I had that problem at home but it was a lot worse than here. She says I can imagine. I’m glad she said that to me because it helps me to accept the fact better that I was not a bad person that I just could not deal with her. When she came out of the restroom and sat back down there, she says to me they don’t like me moving stuff around, so I’m not gonna do that anymore. They are getting ready to do some work inside the facility and they’ve told the residents that. So the day before when my sister was there mom told her I want to talk to whoever’s in charge of that before they do it. Oh my.

It's 54 but strong, cold South wind is blowing and its cloudy. I feel okay today but good to have the medicine just in case.
I had never heard of a UTI in cattle before either but she was in real pain. Hope she's feelǹg better today.. The girls are a quarter mile away so can't see individuals.
I really dread the cold weather but good we won't be having snow. We still have some here. Hope everyone is well today.

More snow expected here in Northern VA on Sunday…3 to 6 inches. We still have snow on the ground from last week and had about an inch last night. I am done with winter…lol. Bring on spring with the green grass and flowers!
Have been working on some crochet items for daughter. She has 3 craft shows coming up over the next 3 months so she needs the inventory. One show has asked for Easter themed items, so today been working on Easter eggs with bunny ears and adornments. Another show is at a vineyard so did some wine bottle covers with grapes. The other show is more country so did some chickens. Will see what she comes up next for me to do…lol
Everyone stay safe and warm and well.

VA nurse called with CT scan of my neck results. "No wonder your in pain, you have a lot going on in your neck. Bulging disk, severe arthritis, stenosis. Also, the neck xray picked up a nodule with changes since last scan 3 months ago". Now, along with the bone scan I am scheduled for ct of the chest on the 28th.
Can't believe when I was young I couldn't wait to get older!

Hello Front Porch Rockers.
Lorita. It's so sweet that you and your neighbors were watching out for Susie, I hope she's better today. I hope you're feeling better today, it's nice that you're able to get out.
Iris. Thank you for all the updates, sounds like things are getting better, its going to be along time for a lot to even get close to recovering. The news I saw this morning showed the house that was cut in half. Be safe while your gone.
Ron, how is your neck doing? Any updates on your other scans?
Carl, I agree with you I prefer to do my own rocking. I love my recliner I have one inside and one outside.
Jerilynn, I hope you're grandaughter is doing good. Your goats are so cute, now I want one.
Mint. Sounds like your mother is doing good, I hope her attitude stays the same. I think my attitude is like hers and I don't plan on changing. Bless her heart.
I'm doing pretty good, the weather here in Arizona, has cooled a bit. I don't miss the Oregon, snow, but at times I miss Oregon.
I'm still dealing with dental work. I'm being fitted for dentures, the dentist put studs in, yesterday to replace the ones he put in 4 months ago. My bone rejected those, so I'm giving it another try. A little discomfort right now, but ibuprofen seems to help.
Your all in my prayers 🙏 Hugs Zetta

Thanks, Zettsa, I feel fine today I did see Susie with the.binoculars .She wss up and with the others so guess she is better. You know people are good about helping with cattle. Once I had gone to the mailbox and à car stopped and one of the men told me a cow was out. They got her back in for me. Something was going on with them today.. They were all grouped together on the other side of the pond and were bawling. This went on for at least half an hour or longer. When they disbursed I couldn't see anything where they had been. They react like that when one of their family passes away.
We've had clouds, strong winds, some rain and then sun today. Weather says the big cold front will be here by morning with short, I hope, periods of snow flurres. There is still snow behind the barn and places in the pastures. Guess it's waiting for more. .
Mint, glad you got to.visit your mother and had a chance to talk to the lady about your mom. I know it makes you feel better.
Everyone, sleep well and stay warm the next few days.

Lorita and Loveskitties, I hear you about the weather. All I can say is: "62 days until spring!"
Yes, Ron, I used to want to get older too. We get so soon old and so late smart, don't we? Hope they don't find even more trouble on the CT.
David, I'm glad your wife was able to get out and visit you before the cold wave hits. I'm sure she misses you as much as you miss her.
Zetta, I have a king size rocking recliner covered in navy leather and I love it. Sometimes I sleep in it. My wife recently decided it is ugly, and she is going to get rid of it. Fortunately, it is much too heavy for her to move.

Good morning,
Y'all will have to tell me when you get tired of goat pictures, lol. These 3 came to us yesterday. The gray one and the red one are Spanish goats. A hardy breed that does well in most climates. Also, all 3 are expecting babies. AS IF 8 babies isn't enough. I'm going to call the gray one GG, after @GothicGremlin . They all love vanilla wafers. The red one is mean. She picked up one of the babies by its back and shook it. Not hurt, thank goodness. We'll have to watch her. All the babies enjoyed the weather yesterday. Warm (ish) and sunny. They were all out running and playing. Fun to watch. Of course, for the two days before we were supposed to leave on vacation DH was dragging me to look at these goats, trading/buying/selling/hauling goats hither and yon.
But, we're packed. I've been up since 1:30 am, not able to sleep. We'll get on the road at 6 am.
Granddaughter and boyfriend are staying here off/on while we are away. Another grandson will tend to the dogs and the goats. Daughter will fill in with the house animals. It's a madhouse around here. But it'll be fine.
Granddaughter is much improved. I have left her with strict instructions about rest and hydration.
Ron, I hope you feel better soon. Zetta, take care of yourself. HB, how's Mama? Beth, it's about time to be thinking about flowers, isn't it? Carl, I'm looking at recliners and was thinking about a blue leather. Iris, be safe on your trip and enjoy. Judith - the peppercorn search? Lorita - glad Susie is better. Mint, it sounds like Mom is settling in and about to be ready to run the place, lol. David, the VA seems to have lots of fun activities. @loveskitties , shows us pictures! I know I've left someone out, sorry. Time to get up from here and check my list for last minute things to do. Y'all stay warm, dry and safe. I'll post pictures from our trip along the way. Love and prayers for all. ❤️

good morning
Marie, you stay busy. That’s a good thing. He got up to like 38 here yesterday so our snow did melt some. They are giving snow and rain today.
Zetta hope the procedure will do well for you this time.
David, nice to hear that you and your wife had a nice visit.
Lorita like tell, you said, the snow left behind you guessed, was waiting for more. I’ve never heard that before, that’s cute.
Carl your wife going to get rid of things she don't like sounds like my mother😊. Maybe that goes with the territory. My aunt was the opposite. When I went to the nursing home to visit her, I would find her drawers and closet just packed with linens. That was the nursing homes. Back then I didn’t know anything about dementia yet anddidn’t understand a lot of things. So one day I went and told one of the workers I said, I don’t know if you know this, but she’s putting all kinds of your linens in her room. They knew oh.my.
JeriLynn Glad your granddaughter is doing well. I enjoy seeing the goats.
hope to make some potato soup and a pan of cornbread today. I wanted to do that yesterday, but it didn’t happen. Maybe it will today

David, I'm glad you are in such a nice place where you have activities in and out of the building. That adds quality to life; I've seen some people in care facilities who just sit in front of a tv all day long.
JeriLynn, have a great vacation! Glad you have the people in place to care for the animals. I hope it will be nice and warm and sunny there.
Mint, glad your mother is getting along as well as she is. I'm sure it's a load off your mind - plus you now have more time to yourself.
Getting ready for flowers - oh yes! The garden area is "blessed" with clay soil. This fall, I added 20 bags of compost and 25 lbs of worm castings. I planted 3 daylilies plus a "ton" of coneflower seeds from my previous garden. Also, I bought a peony, tulips and stargazer lilies and planted them. Recently I ordered some seeds (balsam, verbena, lupine) and some plants (blueberries and Rose of Sharon). I also have zinnia and marigold seeds. I will want to buy some foxglove plants in the spring. And likely some other plants as well! At the old place, I had 3 peonies that I dug starts of from my parents' and grandparents' graves. They were special. I'll likely do that again; nice memories and honoring to them. I'm considering getting a 'Betty Corning' clematis. It has light blue little bell shaped flowers. I had maybe 10 or 12 different clematis at the old place. I really should have dug more flowers up and brought them here; too late now. Oh well.
Yesterday it was 48 degrees. To you in FL, that makes you shiver I suppose. But it felt GREAT to me. I went outside and trimmed my weeping willow as it's getting way too big for its' space and I cannot get under to mow it due to low hanging branches. I think I shall say goodbye to it this spring.
I hope you all have a good weekend.
Beth
p.s. Thinking of flowers - this is clematis 'Piilu.'
