Good morning.

Lorita, I obviously misunderstood your motive for selling your farm. I thought you needed some cash. If you are estate planning and don't need the money from a sale, you can will your farm to your heirs and let the executor deal with the sale.
Taking DS to the dentist today. TTYL

Morning, Iris, such a sweet picture of Seven. It was good that she got to be out in the grass for a while. Probably made her feel better. I buried Barclee under the Holly but it's gone now so I put rocks over his grave because the GPs dig holes there since the holly is gone. I know you're still missing her because I still miss Barclee- a member if the family is gone.
Ron, the urn is lovely and so is the wedding picture of you and Lou. What a handsome couple you all were. I also like the pieces for your sons. What a good idea. My sister and her two daughters were cremated but I can't do that nor could Sarah. Our family plot is in the oldest cemetery in Oklahoma. It is/was an Indian cemetery until the Tribe donated it to the city. It overlooks a peaceful pond in a pasture with cattle. Could not be more appropriate for my family and I.
They have just elected a new Pope and all the people are cheering and the bells are ringing.
Judith, I have funds for my care plus long term care insurance which includes inhome care and facility care so no worries there. No reverse mortgage needed or an option since the land is mine, above and below.Mike would protect the land and, hopefully his grandsons would. There are so many places around now growing marijuana and a lawsuit has just been settled against a big wind farm around Lake Eufaula. There is a big solar panel farm a few miles north so things are closing in. I want the land to remain as it is.
They haven't announced who the new Pope is but will soon. People are still cheering and look so happy. It didn't take long to select him, did it?
The GPs stayed outside part of the night. Let them in at 5 but Stormy was outside of the yard so I have to find out where he got out and fix it. Need to make vet appt. For allergy shots and nail trim for Sheena tomorrow. Darwin is going to help me get Sheena in the car. Judith, things have to be lifted and moved so I have to do it. I bearhug the 50 lb. Sacks to.lift them. I will be okay. Thanks for caring.
Going to be a pretty day but showers later

Judith-
I have 2 concerns. Firstly, is that I worry about her 87-year-old kidneys and liver dealing with supplements on top of the many medications she takes daily. She takes a lot of medications (9 prescriptions by mouth, 2 inhaled and an injection) plus 2 prescribed vitamins and Biotin with the blessing of her derm and PCP. Her kidney function isn't great but it has improved since adding Jardiance. She has a history of autoimmune hepatitis as well.
The other concern is that her previous retinal specialist said that the components of the AREDS-2 are most effective in the ratio offered and there's some overlap between the two.

I'm getting a late start. I spent the morning online looking for a place to stay next month. My wish list contains a king-sized bed, outdoor seating with ocean view, A/C, a parking spot and bathtub for under $500/night shoulder season. I'm going to have to compromise and that's not my super-power.
The world has an American Pope. Wow.

and he is a Chicago boy!
HB…oops…I take Natrol meletonin…lol. I don't know how far up the coast you will be driving but we loved Perkins Cove and its tiny harbor and draw bridge.
Remains….yu can be paert of a man made reef off of Pensacola. Sarcophagus sounds good.
Lorita….forgot you had LT insurance.
Carl…who is your LT with? Mine is NY Life.

Judith- and a Wildcat, to boot.
We won't be going as far as Maine this time. I would have loved to poke around Portland for some of the country's best craft brewers and the Harpswell for seafood. Perkins Cove looks very much like Harpswell.

GG, I also received a pair of Skechers day before yesterday. It said Bob's for Skechers. I have to return them for two reasons;they run small because my toe comes right to the end. I wear a 9 medium and they always fit. I injured my Achilles tendon on my right foot four or five years ago from wearing my work boots that had a strong string across the back. I guess I wore them most of the winter, not noticing it until my foot began to burt. Now I have to wear mules. Thought I would try these but it hurts my tendon. So, will return them. I also thought I would get a pair before they went up. I have a pair of recovery Skechers but not something I would wear off the farm.
Made an appt. For the GPs at 9:30 Monday for allergy shots and nail trim. I trimmed Stormys but didn't get them short enough and I doubt he would let anyone else trim them. He doesn't take appointments until 10 so I can get in and out before the clinic fills up. Stormy has a seizure when I take him and there are lots of people around. Found a place I think he may have gotten out so will fix it when I.go out to feed Billy. They have never gotten out so he must have seen a wolf close to the yard and he.got out to defend us. They are both sound asleep so guess they won't sleep outside tonight.
The glitch is still around. I was adding to this post and it disappeared twice. I will hurry this time.
No problem, Carl. There are no heirs. Two cousins, one three years older and one two years younger so will have to sell before I go. There is a great nephew, Sarah's brother. No idea where he is but not an option anyway. Better get this posted.

I would love to go to Harpswell. It looks wonderful!

Got DW's MC bill today. Room charge is $692 for three days in April. "Adjustments" is $7,254. Total for three days is $7,946. No explanation of what "adjustments" might be for.
I usually handle a piece of mail once. Open it, write a check, file it. Not this time. It's too late to call today, so this item will pend until tomorrow.
Judith, DW's LTC insurance is with John Hancock. I've been paying for it since 2003. Now we'll see if it's worth anything.
Got DS' false teeth adjusted today, washed the car, and did a little shopping. Bird pooped on the car while I was shopping. Sigh

Sounds pretty expensive. Why is it we always get things in the mail we need to check late in the day or Saturday. I did know how much Jack wss paying and also Lorita but can't remember. Probably going up every year. I think there is an annual increase per day on my LTCI.

Ron - Very sweet photo of you and Lou.
Carl - I like the way you think (about the sarcophagus), but I don't know about a photo … As for Star Trek - I hope I get beamed up, rather than beamed down, you know?
Iris - Awww, Seven. I bet she was happy to be out in the sun.
HB - I hope you guys have a wonderful anniversary! FTD is a bear. Peggy had the logopenic variant.
Lorita - I'm sorry you have to return the shoes - always a pain. Both of the pairs I ordered fit fine. I ordered a half size up so that I can wear fuzzy socks with them. Life is too short not to have fuzzy socks.
Nothing much to add … got my shredding done, finished up at Cosco - successfully avoided the huge jars of M&Ms, and had time for a stroll in the sun.
The new pope looks promising. I was impressed with all of the languages he speaks. Pope Francis had a degree in chemistry which I also thought was pretty cool.

Good morning. Derm Day. Oh yay! [insert eye-roll here]
Carl— I wonder if "adjustments" is a one-time community joining fee or perhaps her room & board for May. Many MCFs have a fee to move in. Dad's monthly fee was due early in the month like rent. When he died on the 5th, mom got a refund check within a week.
HB0 -
Good morning
Carl as mentioned there can be a community, usually just a one time fee
Also there is sometimes adjustments to the base price based on the level of care that DW would need. I know the first month my mom was where she is, I had to pay almost $9000. But after one month it’s now just a little over 6,000 each month. The first three months they reassess level each month. Then after that, it’s either every three or six months I forget which, that they reassess the level. There is one level lower than where my mom‘s at, but I don’t think she’ll ever get downi to that. Probably the only thing that could happen in the future is it for it to increase.

Good morning,
The storms yesterday mostly passed us by. So, happy for that. Cooler and foggy with more rain today and the next 5.
I've made meatballs and sauce this morning. Will do a baked ziti to take to the BIL in Scottsboro tomorrow along with other "stuff". We take him groceries and food every two weeks. For us, traditional serving with a wedge salad and something. Haven't made it that far yet.
Beginning to ready the pool. Adding water today so that we can shock and then begin the chemical process.
The barn swallow family from last year has returned. The hatchlings have also made a nest, so there's now two on the front columns. It's messy, but I hate to shoo them away. As the hatchlings were building their nest, they were just fussing up a storm because our front porch chairs are close. So I had a talk with them and now they sit for a minute to watch us but they fly on in to put the finishing touches on their home. DH says I'm crazy. Maybe. But they're coming aren't they?
Speck is in the chicken run this morning for a trial run. She's on the inside run. The others in the bigger area. Somewhat separate. I'll put her up before we leave to go to Huntland this morning to retrieve the tractor and trailer. Peanut is fine today. It will soon be time to bind his little sacks.
I've decided upon red geraniums for the front porch and adding two more to the back flower bed. There are two small beds back there, separated by the short walkway to the pool steps. I've put my herbs back there too this year.
Guess I best get up and back to my chores. Y'all have a good day and TTYL.

Put the car in the shop to get the headlight changed. They built the car around the headlight so it will take 2.5 hours and cost $500 to do it. I changed a headlight on a '58 Ford for $2.86 and ten minutes with a Phillips screwdriver, but a 2012 Maxima has more engineering in a door handle than a '58 Ford had in the whole car.
The chaplain is coming by in a few minutes. It'll be nice to talk to him again.
Lovely day here, hope you all have a good one.

Morning………
I just received a call from a childhood friend. Our mom's were besties and pregnant together with the both of us. So I can say I've known him my entire life. Anyway, he & his wife are coming for a few days next week. I'm so excited I can't stand it. They're very concerned about upsetting DH's schedule though. They are staying in a hotel not 10 minutes from us. That way we can keep DH's schedule as regular as possible. (I'm not telling DH until the day they arrive. He'll be as excited as I am.) The plan is we'll do our morning Zoom, meet up for lunch and do something then see what other trouble we can get into. It is rare to have a lifelong friend of 67 years. We both cherish our relationship.
That's all for now, time for Zoom. Let's be safe everyone.

Sunny and cool this morning but will warm to 80s next week. I have been lazy this morning watching QVC but plan to work outside this afternoon.
I need to put the flag up. I have had it down for awhile during the rainy weather. Want to plant the vinca in the bathtub and plant a couple of them and maybe a sweet potato vine in the black pot on the tree stump.
I'll have to transplant the huge wild violet from the planter where I want to plant the caladiums. May put a caladium bulb in the black pot. There are huge wild violets in the north side of the yard so Bryon is restricted in his mowing. Plan to move some of them to the north side of the house.
Will have to put Miracle Gro potting soil in the black pot and in one planter that's only partially filled. There are some maple seedlings growing in one planter so should transplant one in a pot somewhere. I also need to plant those four Gerbera daisies, maybe by the front gate.
I have a beautiful pink rose that grows on one side of the arch nicer the north gate- wish I knew where we got it so I could get one for the other side. It's a rambler and grows up the one side. Maybe I might get a few of those things done.
Last evening Darwin didn't call at the regular time. I called him three times with no answer so worried me. Drove over and he and Donna were on the front porch swatting flies. He had lost track of time and was okay. JeriLynn, they have three barn swallow nests on their front porch, really a wraparound porch. He says they build there and in his barn every year. We used to have them nest on our porch and loved to watch them. We came hone one day and a snake had crawled up the wall to a nest over the sun room door and I guess got the eggs or little birds. After that they no linger build on the porch. Every year there are a couple of nests they start but never finish. I miss them. I don't think you're nuts for talking to the birds, I talk to all the animals, even the pond turtle I found crossing the road when I moved him. Guess I better stop and get to doing those things. Back later. Glad Speck and Peanut are doing well.

Well, didn't get much done but my back feels like I worked all day. Didn't have flowers in the bathtub for a couple of years and if was like breaking up sod. Got that bro Ken up but can't plant today, it needs to dry a bit so I can get grass out of it. Broke down some.poke plants along the outside of the corral but lots more inside the fence. Transplanted the wild violets out of the planter, one huge clump and two smaller. There are so many I need to move.
The area where there were prickly pears (some still there along the edges,,) is filled with poke plants about three feet tall. Not sure.how to get rid of those. We should have listened to my sister when she warned us not to plant them. But, they are beautiful when they.bloom. Zetta, I imagine there are lots of them where you live.. Do not touch them!!
I did discover a Royal Empress tree about two feet tall, guess it's growing from the roots of an old one. Happy about that. I see now this stuff is going to have to done bit by bit. My.back is not what it used to be.I need Charles to help me. The place where I was going to plant the daisies won't work because it is completely in the shade. Maybe I can get the.bulbs planted today. Cool unless you're working and windy.

Gardening is something you never get done. You just work at it all your life and someone else takes over. We want order, but nature wants chaos. That explains the condition of my yard, which would be wilderness if I didn't have a man mowing it. The flower beds are growing volunteer trees and other native plants (weeds).
I found a bird's nest in the yard this morning. I guess last week's windstorm destroyed one more home than we knew. The nest was made of sticks and straw and a strip of plastic ribbon. One way to dispose of leftover knitting yarn or embroidery thread is to cut it up and leave it where the birds can find it during nesting season. I leave it on the deck where I can watch the birds collect it.
Lunch is over. TTYL
