Continuous Bathroom Visits

So, I'd like to find out why my Mom has to continously use the restroom. She will ask to go several times before we get ready to leave somewhere and she does the same thing constantly when we're just at home. I've heard that it's anxiety/fear or boredom and sitting on the toilet is "comforting" to her. I don't believe she has a UTI because she just saw her Dr. She also takes a daily UTI supplement for prevention. Any advice would be appreciated!

Chances are this is an anxiety-driven repetitive behavior, but if the doctor didn't test a specimen and send it out for culture, you can't rule out a UTI especially if this is a new behavior.

Does you mom have bladder leaks? Could it be time for depends or a pad? My mom is in depends, but is constantly going to the bathroom. She tells me she is worried her depends will leak. I suspect she is changing her depends at the slightest bladder leak. Incontinence is common with dementia.

This can be a symptom of an overactive bladder, which is common in certain years. How old is your mom?

You might also want to look into her medication side effects, as some diuretics and blood pressure meds can increase the need to urinate frequently. Did her doctor change her therapy recently?
