GG. I just looked at all.of your pictures of all the rallies. Really good pictures of how people are feeling.

Does anyone have the recipe for Spiced Tea that was so popular in the past year? I may have it somewhere because I made it a lot. I know it had Tang and Instant tea but not sure about the spices.

Carl, Oklahoma is about the same weatherwise as Missouri. Long hot spells in the summer and very cold weather in the winter. Not a lot of pretty spring or fall weather but I love it anyway as I'm sure you love Missouri. Do you pronounce it ending with an "i" or am "a"?

Just looked at my last post. Bet you all think I'm nuts. Probably am halfway at least but this tablet changes things even after I proofread. My excuse anyway. Watching football, then Rachel so will say good night.

I have two recipes from my mom:

    Instant Spiced Tea #1

    • 2 cups Tang
    • 2 cups sugar
    • 3 pkg lemonade mix (lemonade KoolAid?)
    • 1 cup plain instant tea
    • 3/4 tsp ground cloves
    • 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon

Mix well. Use 2 tsp per cup or mug

    Instant Spiced Tea #2

    • 1 cup Tang
    • 1 cup instant tea
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
    • 1/2 tsp ground cloves

Mix well. Use 1 tsp per cup. May use less sugar, then put honey in cup.

Mint - I'd love to see a bluebird in real life. I don't think we have them in any of the places I've ever lived (on the west coast). I'd never seen a cardinal either until last summer when we were in Charleston visiting my s.o.'s mom. There was one outside the window while we were eating lunch. I took a photo and was then able to identify it. Really pretty bird.

Beth - that article on the food prep fails really did have me laughing out loud. I have no idea what any of those people were thinking.

Ahh, between your comments and HB's comments I now know about the villages. Thank you.

HB - Just say "yes" to Velociraptors! One of my favorites. I know, I have favorite dinosaurs. Sometimes I'm still 10 years old.

tigersmom - fall is settling in my neck of the woods too. Lots of trees are starting to pop now. And it's so much colder than it was even just a week ago. I've pulled out all of my sweaters. My t-shirts, except for the ones I wear to the gym, have been put away.

Lorita - I saw a couple of articles about the outage today. It's actually fairly serious when you think about it. Here's an NBC article I saw. AWS (Amazon), Microsoft and Google control the vast, vast majority of cloud infrastructure. And if one of them has issues, we end up seeing outages like the one earlier today.

Zetta - I had no idea Boise was that big! Thanks for mentioning tacos. Now I want some. 😄 Maybe tomorrow.

I'm glad you guys are getting settled in and making your house a home.

Carl - San Francisco is like that too - it's always a good idea to carry a jacket with you because you just never know what kind of weather you're going to get.

And "If a man says something in the forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?"

    Yes. Duh. 😄

Sandwichone and Lorita - I've never seen that recipe before. And I haven't thought of Tang in I don't know how long. The best thing about Tang? If you don't stir it well, a lot of the orange and sugar granules settle to the bottom and then when you get to the bottom, you can collect it all in a spoon and eat it that way.

    As for me?

Today was leg day at the gym. So many painful leg exercises! And then exercises for hamstrings and calves. We wrapped up with push-ups just cuz he wanted me to do a bunch of them - like 30. I'll be feeling all of this tomorrow!

Tonight is Death Guild so I'm looking forward to that. Hopefully they'll play good music tonight, otherwise I'm going to go to sleep early.

Where could we still buy Tang?

My condo complex has 100 units, so probably about 200 people live here, this could be a little village if we were all alone.

Los Angeles is the most populated county in the country, 9,756,000 people, more or less.

The weather had been cool but it's seems like it's getting warm again. See you tomorrow.

    Good morning,

Did I say good morning???? Blood pressure running low yesterday, even after picking pears up off the ground, having problems accessing internet, can't get heat on in the camper, and coyotes howled all night. Going to drink another cup of hot coffee and get back under the comforter in bed. I need to either go out and buy winter clothes or stay in bed till spring.

Thanks for the recipes, HB. Iris, I don't know for sure if we can still get Tang. Hope so.

Hi again, I gave Billy his last dose of medicine and feed this morning and let him out. He was walking pretty well when he left. He stayed in the lot a while and guess he went in The barn. I told him to come back in the morning and I would feed him. His back is as tall as I am, Big boy.

Finally got in touch with the electrician this morning. Said he would come either this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon to replace the !ight switch. Not planning on ho!ding my breath. . He stays so busy. I really need it replaced so I can turn the breaker back on to have lights in the sunroom and half the bathroom p!us one outlet I use for the heater in the winter.

Time for Wagon Train, Zetta, so Will stop for now.

Ron, you be sure to get some nice warm blankets, jackets, coats, gloves/mittens, stocking caps/beanies, neck scarves…You're not in the south anymore! We have real winters in the midwest!

Enjoy your new home, Zetta! Boise sounds huge, but your area sounds just to your liking. It sounds like you can get anything you need without traveling into the city. One of my good friends from nursing school moved to Sandpoint near Couer d' Lane after graduation. We visited; what a beautiful place! It's in northern Idaho; I think you are farther south.

It is 52 degrees today and tremendously windy, giving us a "feel like" temperature of 32. Brrrr! No outside work in the yard for me today. I mowed Sunday, so should be good for a few more days. I have needed to mow twice a week all season long. I guess that's what happens when you fertilize and water - we have irrigation so we water twice a week or thereabouts. At the last house we did not have irrigation and we only watered the lawn on rare occasions. It looked good, though.

Carl, your meals at the Senior Center sound really good. We have a nice center locally but since I eat gluten free, it doesn't really work for me.

GG, today I rode my stationary bike, did a few sprints, 100 air squats and 50 squats with 14 lbs, 30 overhead press with 14 lbs, 400 steps farmer's carry with 14 lbs. I normally use 20 lbs but wasn't feelin' it today. I keep thinking I need to join the gym here. I have been procrastinating although I know it will be beneficial particularly when winter comes.

Tomorrow is a candidate forum which I'll attend (city council and mayor). I'm also going out to lunch with the "swimming girls." These are the ladies who swim at Bev's pool on Thursdays all summer long. There are 14 of us but not every gal comes every week.

    Have a good day!

Well, I didn't get up early like I thought I might. The music at Death Guild was too good last night - I stayed until the end (2:30am). 🙂

That was no excuse not to go to the gym, so I went closer to 11, not my usual 9:30. I was glad I went, I got a lot of stuff done. And I was rewarded - on my drive to the gym I was listening to a fairly dramatic song by Ashbury Heights, "Crescendo", and as I was hearing that song, I passed by a lot of trees in almost peak fall colors. Also dramatic. So it was a perfect little gothic moment.

After that, the basic work stuff. But - I'm enjoying this cool, but very sunny day. After today, the overcast and rain return.

Ron - winter clothes and sleeping in = good.

Lorita - I'm thinking good thoughts for Billy's continued recovery. Does he come when you call him?

Wow Beth — You did a lot of work today, in spite of not feeling the 20lbs. All of this work will help us later on. I always like the side benefits of the gym - if you go at roughly the same time every day, you see the same people and the same trainers. Being able to chat with all those folks while you're working out makes the time go by quicker.

    Off to do the dishes!

Got my hearing test this afternoon. No real change from a couple of years ago, so I'll continue to use my phone on speaker and carry on. I've lost quite a bit of hearing, but not enough to make it worth the commitment to use hearing aids all the time. Next week I'll see my PCP for an annual physical, where I expect to learn that I should lost weight and exercise more.

Beth, the meals I eat at the Center are really good for what they cost me, and I enjoy the company. I'm an omnivore and have enjoyed everything I have been served there. It's not a place to eat for vegetarian or gluten-free diets though.

Tomorrow would be a good day to shop for clothes, Ron. The weather is predicted to be sunny and warm (70) before turning cloudy Thursday and then chilly and rainy for a few days. I plan to pay my son a visit in the morning and then stop by the big men's store to use my coupon for another pair of pants or two. Hope you get your heat turned on before it gets cold! It's a good idea to stock up on oatmeal and beans in the autumn too. I don't mean 100-pound sacks, but sometimes you won't want to drive for several days at a time due to snow or ice. The weather guessers have looked at La Nina and the fur on caterpillars and predicted snow and cold this winter. ⛷️

This is a good place to learn about cattle. Lorita knows everything worth knowing, and I know the rest! TTYL

I hope he will.come when I call, GG. He did when he was up but not sure he will being out with everyone. He is pretty much a loner. There are two bulls out there so will probably stay away from them. I had meant to put that oil filled heater together but didn't. Am doing a load of laundry.

Beautiful day, not hot and not a leaf moving. GG, it always makes me feel good when I see a beautiful tree. Wish we had more of the colors around here.

OKC Thunder are playing this evening so guess I will watch them.

The weather just said we may get from 3-5" of rain Thursday and Friday. It has been in the 70s today. To be in the 40s tonight.

GG, All the workouts you and Beth do makes me tired. I should get on my recumbent bike a few minutes each day. Not sure walking would be too good for the GPs. Both of them have arthtritis.

    Enjoy your evening

Watching a good Thunder game I forgot that Kevin Durant went to the Rockets. Took me a while to remember his name. The fans in OKC booed him when he was introduced.

I have very little hearing in my right ear. When there wss such a thing I couldn't hear the ring tone on a phone. But I have really good hearing in my left ear.. The problem I sometimes have is not being able to tell the direction a noise is coming from. My hearing loss is familial or congenital. Daddy had the same problem. He had surgery for it and he said it was awful, like scratching in his ear.

Carl, Charles and I have cared for the girls since probably 1990 when daddy could no longer do it. We have had two really good vets and I asked lots of questions. I really miss feeding them and all that goes with it. Now I'm pretty much on the fringes. I keep watch on them and If something is awry that I can't take care of, I call Mike. I sold the girls and leased the farm the end of 2021. Very happy the girls are still here.. I'm already missing Billy being up. He is the only bovine that I own.

Finally gave up and located my robes and fuzzy pants. Should feel good in the morning. Ron, better get some warm clothes - winter is closing in. I ordered a set of Berkshire Velvetsoft sheets today.. They're kind of like the Berkshire blankets and throws but not as thick. Should be really warm this winter.

Time for the second half so will say good night. Sleep tight.

Good morning. We got just enough rain last night to chase away the painter. Maybe he'll come tomorrow. It's seasonal, sunny and breezy. I should really powerwash my front walk but am not feeling it. I'd have to hook up the new hose and machine and turn the water on and then put everything away, turn the water line off and bleed if for the winter. Maybe I'll just do Costco instead. I'm down to a single bar of soap.

Tigersmom— The Wordle issue was part of the Amazon Cloud outage. It came back by that afternoon.

Lady Z— I don't mind a trip to Starbies myself. They're one of the few places that make a decent cup of tea and I do enjoy their iced tea combinations in warm weather. What's your usual order? Are you a plain black & bitter or do you like dessert-in-a-cup? Does Mollu get a "pup-cup"?

Carl— My dad had a tee with that saying on it. Two actually, he wore the first one out.

I suspect the senior center purposely plans menus to be palatable for the largest number of people and likely factors in availability of USDA surplus food distribution.

If you're an Apple-person, the newer Airpods have an OTC hearing aid function that could bridge you until you need something prescribed. Even without the newer version, I find mom hears better using ear buds with her Apple phone.

She rarely wears her hearing aids in the hospital and doesn't understand the etiquette rules around using her phone's speaker in a shared space. Her poor roommates. My Millennial niece almost lost her mind driving to Rockport while mom talked with her whiniest, most annoying friend on speaker. LOL, she asked me to "speak to Nana about this please". I told her that I had put her earbuds in her handbag for this very scenario and that she could remind her to use them.

Iris— Does your Butterwort have flowers? I saw one in the local boutique nursery, and it was covered with pretty white flowers. It was lovely.

It's funny how a neighborhood or development can function like a small town with a larger city. I saw this when I worked in the city. Philadelphia is a city of neighborhoods. If I know where someone lives, you can make some educated guesses about where they went to school, where they worship and even which beach town they visit each summer.

Beth— Did you settle on a tea? Myself, I prefer a medium-body English Breakfast in the morning and make as soon as I get downstairs. Irish Breakfast is too robust that early in the day. I used to drink PG Tips, but they've seemed to have changed how they package their tea. It used to be in a pyramid-shaped sachet but now it's flat and seems a victim of shrink-flation. So lately, it's been Yorkshire Gold for me.

Lorita— You can find Tang online, but your local Walmart might have it as well.

Gothic G— I'm glad the evening was a good one.

Funny you mention dinosaurs. When DS was in his dinosaur-phase, I took him on the train to the American Museum of Natural History in NY. LOL, trains and dinosaurs is kind of a peak ASD experience. While there, he was imaging people he knew as dinosaurs (DH was a T Rex, naturally) but I was a Maiasaura— "good mother lizard". I do hope that was a reflection of my parenting and not my dry skin.

    ________________________________________________________________________________

I took mom out for a few hours yesterday. We stopped by the dentist to book her a cleaning. I was able to get that scheduled the same day as her pulmo which is the day after her retina specialist, which is the day after her haircut. My poor family will be eating a lot of take-out next week. Then we knocked around Old Navy (DS needed new boxers) and then TJ Maxx/Home Goods (mom's happy places— she got a Frye wallet and some compression socks). I got her a milk shake at Chik-Fil-A and completed the Happy Mom Trifecta.

After she was showing me an Austrian boiled wool jacket her sister gave her. Mom had been "cleaning" the "oxidation" off the buttons and was showing off her progress. They're kind of cheaply made buttons, btw. Mom's AMD is starting to really impact her vision, and she didn't realize that what she'd actually done was rub the finish off the base metal. She was horrified when I explained this.

I suggested she order new buttons and replace them. I grabbed her iPad and did a search when I found the perfect size and style blazer button. Critical to this is that mom is not a digital native or at all tech savvy.

She claimed to like the style but was pushing back. I pointed out that they were made in Germany and only $2.95 each which is not a bad price for such an item. Turns out they were "too big". She thought they were going to be the same size as they appeared on the screen. I burst out laughing and said if she wanted smaller ones, we could look at them on her phone. A light went off over her head and she got a good chuckle out of it as well.

I hope all have a safe and pleasant day.

Lorita, I didn't watch the Thunder vs Rockets but I see it was a good game, with the Thunder winning by 1 pt in OT. I took a liking to the Thunder in the playoffs last year. Tomorrow night the Thunder play the team they beat in the NBA finals, game 7, to win it all - the Pacers. This will be a rivalry type of game I imagine.

HB and Zetta, I really like Starbucks too. My go to drinks are Cinnamon dolcé latte and Brown Sugar Oatmilk shaken espresso. As far as tea goes, Luzianne for iced tea and for hot tea I'll take Jasmine green tea or English breakfast. I like Earl Grey too but don't have any at the moment.

    Have a great day, everyone!

San Francisco Dark Roast Coffee at home, Tall Pike with 3 sugars and 1/2 & 1/2 at Starbucks.

Milo's Sweet Tea with lemon added the rest of the day. Water at bedtime.

Lots going on here: Dear Aunt with dementia to hospital by ambulance Monday with confusion, agitation (another Aunt had passed away and Monday was day of funeral day). I found her alone, hysterical, incontinent of bowel/bladder, huffing and puffing shortness of breath. Got her calmed down, fed, bathed and resting. Then she ramped up again. Called daughter in law to come home from work; stroke assessment by me negative. CT done, MRI yesterday. B12 was in the tank!!!! She's still in hospital today.

Yesterday cousin and I cleaned her house, did laundry, I cleaned the fridge and freezer of outdated foods. I found a loaded pistol under the mattress and removed it as her son had not done so after discussion with him. No word yet today from daughter in law. They (DS and DIL) are thinking she will return to her Stage 5 baseline and they will continue with no caregiver in the home, coming am and pm to check on her. None of the nieces are asked to assist with being present on a schedule. Two of us just show up unannounced every couple days with food, etc. Cameras are being discussed but I'm not optimistic. They said that last year but didn't install anything.

So, I'm a little stressed, crazy. The garage freezer went out Sunday, but we caught it early. For all the foods that were a little thawed, I have been throwing things in the crockpot. Dear Uncle across the road had a spontaneous fracture in his spine and has had a procedure to cement him together. Preliminary diagnosis is bone cancer. He also has had a stroke last year and has some (alot) of MCI. He's still driving too.

I just keep praying the Serenity Prayer. Serenity, courage and wisdom. And cooking/cleaning, feeding the aged/infirm and just doing what I can. Deep sigh.

I'm thankful for each of you, for having a place to talk safely to folks who understand.

    Thank you💜

Never been to Starbucks and I drink black tea, very occasionally green tea. I used to like Red Zinger and I think I have some, maybe English Breakfast, too.

If you Enjoyed Doc Martin, the show is on all morning on Wednesdays on Ovation.

Trimmed Stormys nails and put Neosporin between his toes. He had been licking it and is limping. I was going to try to trim Sheenas but did not succeed. Maybe later. I hate to take them in and if I can trim hers vet will make a farm call for allergy shots. Just a hassle to get them over there.

I thought Billy might be out front for his feed this morning, but isn't. I.hope he is enjoying being out with his family. In the forties this morning but will warm up. Sunny and calm.

Time for juice and hot tea.

Dear Lord, that's a lot for one family. I'm sorry for the loss of your aunt and also for the other one who is now in the hospital. It's a blessing you looked in on her. The gun. Yikes!

Do you think treating the B12 might help get her back to close to her usual baseline? Do they know is she's absorbing it poorly or if her diet lead to the deficiency?
