good morning, I had heat last night! Turned out this 2025 camper was sold to me with very little propane in the bottle. Also found out hot water is ran off of propane! I’ve been letting dishes pile up, then warming water up on stove, shaving with cold water and taking my shower at my son’s. I’ve also upgraded to a iPhone and Apple Watch. Once I figure it out or take back and let them set it up, I’ll be able to track all my vitals with the watch. Now it’s only heart rate! I’m still working on the iPhone, hard to understand how these younger folks whip right through the setup.

HB, I’m one of the wold’s worst about not wearing my hearing aids. I try to remember when I’m out, but still ask to repeat what was said. Home alone I never where them, I figure if I’m going to tell myself something, I already know it.

    Good morning.

I too have mild hearing loss, but it only bothers me when I am in a noisy environment. The audiologist place that I went to last year only wanted to push hearing aids.

Ron, I'm glad you figured out about the propane so you can have heat.

JeriLynn, why don't those people listen to you!

Fun facts: Today is National Nut Day. Walnuts are the oldest tree food known to man, dating back to 7000 BC. California provides 80% of the world's almond supply. Also supplies 99% of pistachios grown in the US. Cashews grow in tropical climates such as Brazil and India.

    Good afternoon Porch Friends.

HB and Beth. My go to coffee at Starbucks, is a Pumpkin Spice latte with almond milk. When Pumpkin Spice is out of season, then I get the Carmel latte. And yes HB, Molly gets the pup 🐶 cup. And she knows it's coming. Her tail start wagging as soon as we pull into a Starbucks.

Ron. It's nice you got some heat and hot water. I don't know about you. But I'm enjoying my new climate. Arizona, was way too hot for me.

JeriLynn. Im sorry about the stress your under. Please take a deep breath, and try to relax. You and your aunt are in my prayers.

Lorita. How is Billy, today? It probably worries you when you don't see him everyday. I'm watching Wagon Train right now, im watching the Cliff Grundy, story. We might be watching the same ones.

    Hugs To all, Zetta

Iris, seems like they have a Day for almost everything. My favorite nut is Brazil nuts, grown in Brazil, I.guess. Used to like smoked almonds, also Black walnuts.

JeriLynn, you have your hands full for sure. I'm sure it's hard to not get stressed out.Good that you took care of the loaded gun. I remember when the doctor warned me to get all the guns and ammo out of the house, including knives and scissors. Things that have to be done for everyone's safety.

Zetta, I would feel better if I could see Billy everyday but probably won't be able to do that. I had seen this Wagon Train - the one where a man was injured on a buffalo hunt. So glad you're enjoying the weather in Idaho.

Ron, glad you have heat and hot water now. Makes you feel better and it was cold last night.

Just remembered I have a load of washed clothes I need to dry so will stop for now.

The electrician came and replaced the light switch so I now have lights in the sunroom and the rest of the bathroom. He measured the distance from the electric meter to the barn and will get the wire and, hopefully, get one of the electric company guys to hang the wire.. Surely will be nice to have another security light. I have one north of the house but the one at the barn sheds light around the barn and east of the house. Gets uber dark without light.

Zetta, I was watching the girls out in the pasture and saw Billy walking down to the pond. He didn't seem to be limping. Made me feel better.

Just discovered that Wagon Train is on a third hour after Laramie on Insp. I will be watching that one, too.

Jimmy was coming out of the house to get something from his truck and Stormy stopped him. He stopprd.him again later - good boy!

It was in the thirties north and west of here last night. In seventies today.

Just a note from Aussie. Have been struggling lately. Had to wait nearly 6 months for the nerve-blocks around my knee. The pain was bad, affecting my gait, and causing back pain and problems with the other hip. But had the procedure on Tuesday, and already feels better. On top of that, it is spring, and the hayfever has been off the charts. Also spread to sinusitis, and I am so glad I kept DHs big handkerchiefs. I go through half a dozen a day. Fingers crossed the worst is over.

Read here every day, so am up to date with everyone's news. Sending hugs and encouragement to all. Barbara

Lorita - I'm really enjoying the fall colors. Because I've spent the vast majority of my life in California I just haven't been exposed to real fall colors. Well, maybe a few, but not blocks and blocks of them all at once. You don't see a lot of fall colors in southern California, or anywhere near San Francisco.

A recumbent bike is good. But you know, you seem pretty active to me, so I don't think I'd sweat it. No pun intended. 🙂

I love flannel sheets! So nice and cozy. I'm glad you have lights again.

HB - I love the American Museum of Natural History! I've only managed to go there a couple of times. The first time my s.o. took me there (early in our relationship), we spent hours in the dinosaur halls. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven.

One of the hat tips in Jurassic Park (which your DS probably knows about) is kind of about the Maiasaura. Near the end of the movie, the main paleontologist guy trips and lands near a nest of dinosaur eggs. The film makers had consulted with John Horner (aka Jack Horner) about dino facts. He's the paleontologist who discovered the Maiasaura nest in real life, so they gave him that little hat tip with the eggs.

Oh JeriLynn - I'm so sorry. I can only imagine your stress. And omg about the gun. I'm glad you were able to eliminate that risk!!

Ron - I'm glad you have heat now!

Iris - National Nut Day - I love it, and I love nuts, well, except for walnuts. I picked walnuts one summer when I was in high school. I still can't really look at a walnut.

Thinking about tea … I have different teas for different days/times. My morning tea is an Assam, the maltier the better. In the afternoon I'll drink PG Tips - in spite of the change in packaging. On the weekends it's Yorkshire Gold.

Today was a productive day, errands and work got done. I also got to spend some time with my bestie, so that was good.

I had a hard workout at the gym, which was also good. One of the things I did was 70 reps on the earthquake bar. 😮 I'm feeling studly now - and I'm also sure I'll be feeling that tomorrow.

Here's a photo of the gym skeleton under a rare relatively blue sky.

Good to hear from you, Barbara. Glad you're starting to feel better.

I turned my furnace on this morning. It's about 44 degrees at 5 AM and will rise to a predicted 69, but will be cooler and rainy tomorrow. Our trees are just starting to change color, so it's finally feeling like autumn.

I like nuts, and they are good for me in moderation. I eat a couple of Brazil nuts every morning and mix a few walnuts and almonds in my breakfast cereal. Most of the black walnuts in the world grow in Missouri, and I used to pick them up and sell them when I was a boy. My mother baked with them and made walnut fudge, so I didn't sell all of the nuts I picked up. I still like to eat black walnuts, including black walnut ice cream.

Hope all have a great morning. TTYL

    Good morning,

HB, in response to: "Do you think treating the B12 might help get her back to close to her usual baseline? Do they know is she's absorbing it poorly or if her diet lead to the deficiency?"

I think it is absorption mostly. A lifelong problem with constipation and the required use of Miralax. As to return to baseline, I just don't know. I hope so. Her family is determined she will return home. They love her. It's just hard, isn't it?

Regarding tea, my grandmother drank several cups of Lipton green tea every day. She lived to be 100. I feel sure that was a factor. Tea is healthy, especially green tea, and I drink it….not often enough….it's coffee for me every day. I need to do better. A GI dr. on Youtube recommends basil tea, fennel tea and ginger tea for gut health issues. I don't have any of those teas but they are available on Amazon.

I had a colonoscopy Tuesday. I had two polyps removed. Removing polyps greatly decreases your chance of getting colon cancer. Do your routine screenings, Friends.

good morning, I’ve finally have things settled down enough to where I’m able to go to the senior center today. I’m even wearing my hearing aids this morning, just in case one of those pretty women says, What’s you doing tonight big boy (something like that). Carl will be there so at least I’ll be able to hear him.

I found out yesterday that the hot water doesn’t stay hot for long. I’ve been going to my son’s for a shower, but decided to take one here yesterday afternoon. Ended up trying to take a tub bath and boiling some water to make it comfortable. Needless to say big mistake! Ended up struggling for 10 minutes trying to get out of the tub.

Beth, coffee and tea are both good for us, in moderation. Statistically, people who drink tea live longer than people who don't. People who drink coffee live longer than people who don't. And people who drink both coffee and tea live longer than anyone.

I have also heard that older people who drink coffee have more active sex lives. I think that is because we can stay awake later. 😍

Morning, sunny and cool here this morning. Rain begins tonight and al be off and on through the weekend. School have even changed their Friday night football games to tonight because of the rain.

Barbara, so sorry for all you've been going through. So glad you're improving. Still seems odd that you all are in spring and we're in fall. I dread the long, cold winter but I do like the four seasons. Take care of yourself and let us hear from you more often.

Another problem, Stormy has something wrong with one of his front feet. He licks it and limps when he walks. I put Neosporin between his toes but he licks it off. I doubt there will ever be a time when everything goes smoothly without problems. But guess that just life, at least for me.

Ron, there's no way I would get Into bathtub I would be stuck. Why doesn't your water stay hot very long? Maybe something with the water heater? I just read the directions on Grandpa Gus. It says the smell is not what repels rodents. You spray it on wires, etc., let it dry and reapply. I'm going to spray it under the car seats anyway.

There is one good thing and you all will probably laugh about this. Remember all the problems with my refrigerator? How could we forget. The freezer compartment works super fine, always did. The other part kept things cool but now it's working just fine. I had butter in it and about a week ago when I started to use it, it was firm. Water gets really cold. It may not last but glad I didn't but another one. How weird is that?

Better stop and get the feed out of the car and open all the doors. If I was driving and whatever it is would get on my foot, who knows what would happen.

Ron, you and Carl have fun today.

Guess who.came up for feed about noon. I looked out and there was Billy at the gate. Let him in and gave him feed. He ate that and wanted more so gave him a bit more, then opened the gate for him and told him to come back tomorrow. I wish he would do that all winter. Still limping some.

Judith, you really keep busy. Did you stock up for the wet weekend?

    Hello, Rockers.

Barbara. Nice hearing from you. Sorry for the pain your have been dealing with, and glad to hear your starting to feel better. Looking forward to hearing from you again.

GG. There are tons of fall colors here. This back yard in our Boise, house is surrounded by trees, all droping the fall colors. Property management, just sent out a tree company, to cut down all the branches hanging over the house. They did a good job, but it took away a lot of our shade.

Beth. I also like ginger tea, I have some but unless I set it out I forget about it.

Ron. I'm sure you and Carl, will have fun at the senior center today. Be careful getting in and out of that bath tub. My bathroom has a simi deep tub, but my DD, s tub is so deep that when I used it, it keep trying to make me float. I prefer my tub.

Carl. You made me laugh, when you said what happens to older people when they drink coffee. 🤣🤣🤣

Lorita. Sorry to hear about Stormys foot. Dose he let you look close enough to see if he has a sticker between his toes?

    Take care all, hugs Zetta

Carl didn’t you mean, older people that drink more coffee has better sex in their minds

By the way front porch ladies, I’ve gotten the impression Carl must be the stud of the center. I was sitting by myself till Carl showed up, then all the ladies started coming over.

Just received a call from VA nurse and they are putting me in the program I had in Louisiana. This is the program I mentioned on the porch back the first of the year where they send me the equipment and twice a day I track my blood pressure and heart rate. The equipment is like a tablet and information is sent to the VA in real time.

Wow, everyone is so busy! I hot a kate start today, because I didn't really fall asleep until 6 am.

Beth, good for you in getting those polyps removed!

GG, what is the earthquake bar?

Ron, when I was in Rome I took what I thought would be a nice soaking bath in the hotel's deep tub. But I couldn't get out! The bottom was too narrow for me to turn around. There was a pull-chain for help but I didn't want anyone to see me in my birthday suit. So I struggled and finally was able to pull myself up by pulling on the ledge of the tub. No more hotel tub baths for me!

iris, you speaking of not wanting to be seen in your birthday suit, reminded me of my grandmother. She was a fairly large woman and got stuck in her tub and had to call 911. She also called my aunt who arrived right after the rescue unit. My aunt threw a towel over her and it took 3 or 4 men to lift her out.

Our heater has been coming on every morning now. It's been chilly! And then it never really warms up during the day. As they used to say on Game of Thrones - winter is coming.

JeriLynn - yes, it's very, very hard. We do what we can.

Beth - colonoscopies - yay. That was a sarcastic 'yay'. 🙂 But I did it anyway, and was a brat about all of the prep, but I did that too. I agree, it's important to do.

About coffee - I love the smell of it when it's ground up and sitting in the bag, but I hate the taste of it once it's brewed. It just does not taste like it smells. Plus, it makes me jittery.

Iris - the earthquake bar is really cool. Doing bench presses with one is one of my favorite things to do at the gym - but only with a spotter. Here's a link explaining what it is - and yes, I think it's totally worth it. And here's a link to a three minute video so you can see it in action and how unstable it is. Do a number of reps with the bar and you will feel it from your wrists up to your shoulder. The bar itself is only about 6 pounds - it's the kettle bells you add to either side that do you in.

Zetta - The climate in Boise sounds like it's so much better suited to you than what you experienced in Arizona. I'm sure I'd be the same way.

Lorita - Billy is still healing?

As for me, today was a fairly quiet day. I went to the gym in the morning - hard boxing workout, but it was good. And I'm still learning new moves.

    Then writing.

Now we're getting ready to have some food and maybe play a board game.

Zetta I don't think anything is in Stormy's foot. At least I can't feel anything. He reluctantly lets me put Neosporin on it and now I have started spraying it with Hexa-Caine. That stuff works wonders for hot spots do maybe it will work for this. He's sleeping now as is Sheena. Wish I was but watching Don Martin. Not sure if I should put a bandage on it or leave it open to the air.

Don't you hate to see tree limbs cut? I know I do.Hurt to see my elm taken down.

Cleared out my car today. Guess what I found. There is a big flap that covers where the spare is - lifted that and there were two ,6x,6 three inch deep indentations One had lots of shredded paper in it and the other one had feed in it. Looked like someone had been sleeping in the paper. No sign of anything alive. Sprayed everything really well twice with Grandpa Gus. Nothing under the hood. Left the back up about three hours. Darwin or I can't figure out how something got in there and hope it is out. I hated to destroy all the work for winter but had to.

Iris I only take showers now. Bathtubs are scary for older people.

Mint, what was crazy about today? Good night, everyone

This is mostly for Lorita —

The other day when I was looking for a particular scene in the first Jurassic Park movie, I happened upon this video, but I didn't watch it. I finally did just now. Totally worth it. A paleontologist discusses some of the dinosaurs in those movies and how they are rendered. He hates the way Velociraptors are rendered for pretty much the same reasons why I hated those Velociraptors. 😄

I was so annoyed with the first movie I didn't bother with any of the others - so I didn't know which other dinosaurs are in those movies. I was surprised by his great discussion of Spinosaurus. Spinosaurs figures in the Walking With Dinosaurs series. The video is only 11 minutes long, but it's jam-packed with good info.

    Enjoy!

    Here's the video

GG, it's been chilly in the mornings here the past 3 days (37 degrees). We turned on our gas fireplace and in less than an hour, the house temp increased from 66 to 70. We just recently had a fan installed in the fireplace; it now works so much better than it did before. The earthquake bar bench press looks challenging.

Zetta, so glad you have a Starbucks close by. I was doing a little research recently and found that one of my drinks of choice there, Brown Sugar Oatmilk espresso, is one of their most highly caffeinated drinks! Oh well, I drink less than one of those in a month. Most of my coffee consumption is at home but Starbucks is a treat.

Zetta, do you know about Red Cups at Starbucks? Every year they have Red Cup Day. This year it is November 13.

For one day only, when customers purchase a handcrafted holiday beverage at a participating Starbucks, they will receive a 16-ounce reusable 2025 limited-edition red holiday cup, while supplies last. Holiday beverages this year include Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brûlée latte, Iced Sugar cookie latte and Iced gingerbread chai. I drink my (home) coffee every day in one of my red cups. Love them! The cup design changes every year.

Lorita, sorry that someone is building a nest in your car! Keep after it and hopefully they will be gone for good.

Barbara, good to hear from you. I hope you feel better soon.

Carl and Ron, I enjoy reading about your adventures together. Friendship is a wonderful thing.

Mint, hope you have less 'craziness' today. Take care.

    Good morning Front Porch Rockers.

Beth. I usually go to Starbucks, once a week. I will have to check out the Red Cup Day. My DD has a few different Starbucks glasses and cups she has saved. We have a coffee maker and two different espresso makers, she makes coffee pretty good, but Starbucks is still my favorite place to go.

Ron. Just walk in like your some buddy, with a big smile 😀 on your face, then you will also be a stud.

GG. The weather here in Boise, is so much like the Oregon, weather. Im hoping we don't get all the snow, we got in Oregon.

Got to go, BBL. Hugs Zetta
