Pulmonologist has me scheduled for a six minute walk text and of course I’m still waiting on a call from the VA about the CT scan. He wasn’t very impressed with the report from the VA Radiologist's stating “suspicious tiny nodules scattered at right lower lobe”. He said you can’t even see a tiny nodule on a regular chest X-ray.

My son wants me to take him to work in the morning and have some father son time at breakfast. Since I’ll be in Springfield it gives me a good reason to see Carl at the Senior Center and exchange lies. The lady at Mission Ridge told me today she should know something tomorrow afternoon about the studio apartment. She was 99 percent sure that it would be available for me. My plans are to move my bed, tv and buy a recliner and I’ll move everything else when I get a one bedroom.

I hope you get good news about your apartment, Ron. Have a good time with your son and with Carl at lunch tomorrow. Let us know.

    Good night, everyone.

Sandy, wanted to let you know the Hempvana worked! At least my leg quit.hurting.

Iris - Peggy was a member of Mauritson's wine club, so as a member she would have interacted a lot with the people who work there. It was nice to reminisce and swap Peggy stories.

HB - I never saw Rod Stewart live, but that train set is pretty impressive.

I'm loving that view from your inn!

If you and your DH go to wine country, do yourselves a favor, skip Napa (it's a zoo), and head over to Sonoma, you'll be so happy you did. You'll get a lot more attention in Sonoma. Geyserville, on the Sonoma side, is tiny, and home to some good wineries.

I took a photo of a Fairytale Cuvee label while I was at Iron Horse. We tasted the 2021 vintage - it was quite good.

    Cuvee one.jpg

Carl - I'm glad today was better than last night.

I'm also starting to get political texts. 😡

Ron - your plan for your move sounds like a good one.

Lorita - I hope you have a restful, pain-free night.

As for me, I caught up on everything that had been waiting for me while we were gone. I did the laundry so that it isn't all waiting for me on the weekend.

One other photo from our drive home — this rainbow! It hadn't even rained. Weirdest rainbow I've ever seen.

    rainbow in southern washington.jpg

One of my long term projects is that I'm going through Peggy's vinyl record collection with the aim of either selling it or giving it all away (I'm just not a yacht rock kind of girl). I'm putting everything into a spreadsheet, alphabetized, so that I know what's there.

As I was going through her collection tonight I found a Quarterflash album - do any of you remember them? I'd totally forgotten them. They were from the early '80s, the lead singer clearly channeling Pat Benatar. I liked their song "Harden My Heart" because the lead singer also plays alto sax. I played alto sax in high school before I got braces, and I'm still partial to saxes in music.

Good morning. Sunny and pleasant here today.

I need to swing by mom's later and make sure she's behaving herself. But first laundry. Because there's alway laundry.

    Good morning.

Good news for you Ron and the possible move.

I love it - because there's always laundry. It doesn't matter how many live in your household, that's a true statement.

We're off to 5th Street Cafe. I think its going to be too loud/too much for DH but he wants to go. So I'll drive to downtown, park, walk and then leave.

    Let's be safe everyone.

Morning, barely hot, humid and windy here. Love your picture of the rainbow,GG. Are you having trouble keeping your fitted sheet in place over the mattress topper? I really am. Seems like there is too much for the sheet to.cover and stay in place But I really like it..

Iris, Sandy says your caterpillar may be a tent caterpillar. We call them webworms. They can cover a tree with.big, white webs. Haven't seen them this year.but some years they are awful.

    Have a good time, Eagle.

Laundry and dishes - that's what Carol says she.does all the time. Hate folding king sized sheets by myself.

    Good luck today, Ron.

    Good morning.

What an unusual rainbow, GG. I once saw a rainbow completely encircling the sun on a cloudy day, so the sun wasn't too bright to look at.

Lorita, thanks for asking Sandy about the caterpillar. I can't find it now.

I'm going out to play Bunco this afternoon. I hope everyone has a nice day.

I normally do that, Judith, but this one I wanted to put a new set on over the new mattress topper. I didn't fold.the ones I took off -just folded at the top Sheet and kind of rolled the.bottom sheet in it. I can fold them if I take my time.but it is not really easy.

Received a call from General Manager of the Senior Living apartment. I knew something was wrong since he called instead of who I had been dealing with. Studio will not be available 😩😢😭😢. A little depressed at the moment, really thought this was it!

Oh Ron that is upsetting. Don't give up, maybe another one will turn up. Or better yet you can move directly into the one bedroom.

We went to the 5th Street Cafe, and DH did want to stay for the program. I'm sure its because it was music. But he wanted no part in staying for lunch, which was fine. So we're heading through downtown at a snails pace. Tons for people everywhere, and I mean TONS of people. Then I realize they have on Fifa jersey's England vs Croatia was today and they had numerous roads blocked off for the 'party' and all of the fans. It was great people watching, everyone had a smile but goodness, it took forever to get through that mess.

I do not think that I have ever actually watched a soccer game.

what I have been watching are all of the videos of the participating countries and the comments our guests have been making. They LOVE the USA. This is huge PR for us!!!

HB - Ha! Yes, there is always laundry. I just did it yesterday and it's back to accumulating.

Lorita - I'm not having any difficulties with the topper, but I got one that had extra deep pockets.

I hope you have a good night tonight.

Ron - Oh no!!! I'm so sorry the studio didn't work out. 😕

eaglemom - I'm doing my best to avoid all things FIFA. Waaaaay too many people for me.

Nothing much is happening on my end of the porch. I'm back at the gym, well, I was back yesterday, but now I'm back to my routine. More renegade rows today - he upped the weight. It's probably good for me? 🙂 Tomorrow is "combat Thursday" which means kick boxing. I'm ready for that.

Morning, warm and humid here. Ron, your rain will stay north of us today. Maybe we will get ours tomorrow.

Woke up about three and couldn't go back to sleep for at least an hour. Realized my driveway alarm isn't working so will check on that today. Weird the things you think about at night.

GG, It isn't the topper.but the fitted sheet that won't stay put. When I wake up in he morning the whole bed is tumbled. Part of that may be fault of Max. Have to blame someone.

    Have a good day

Lorita, there is a garter-looking thing you can buy to secure your sheets. It has a button and eye clip on each end, is about 8" long, and fits on the corner of the bed. DW bought a set of four in the linens section of a department store and used them for years.

Ron, I'm sorry you didn't get your studio and I'm sorry you didn't make it the senior center to visit. Just think of a studio as a room that's studying to be an apartment and wait for a real apartment.

I think one of my senior center lunch buddies is using me for protection. I came to the table the other day and Cowboy was talking to her. M said "See, here's my boyfriend now." He asked "Do you claim her?" and I replied "Sure, I claim all of my girlfriends." So he left. Background: Cowboy is a creep who tries to persuade women to go home with him and succeeded with one woman with AD until her son put a stop to it. I walked in at the middle, but it sounded like M was using "I have a boyfriend" to refuse his advances. Just when you think you're out of high school . . . 👨‍🎓

Thanks, Carl, that should help. I will Check it out.

Judith a mattress topper is similar to a pad. Mine has dozens of sections about 8x8 and each one is.filled with something that is puffy.when filled with air.It is soft but supportive. The idea is to help prolong the life of your mattress.and to make it softer. I'm wondering how to wash it - in one of the big machines at the laundromat, I guess. Ordered mine from QVC and it is heavy.

Lorita…thank you. My mattress must be at least 30+ years old and feels good. It is firm. It was made here in OKC and I picked out the firmness. It is not thick so I never had a problem with fitted sheets.

I guess you will need to take the air out of. your topper to wash it.

Carl, I believe I met cowboy the last time I went and you wasn’t there. Tall lanky guy with a big black hat. I was sitting at a table by myself and he approached me saying “I can’t find a woman around here”. I don’t remember much of the conversation, but it was short after he discovered I wasn’t going to help some horny old man find a woman. If I recall correctly he Saul he was 87, I know it was in the 80s.

Got on the phone this morning and after a long day of talking and paperwork, I’ll be moving into Cambridge Independent living. Hopefully son and grandson will be available. They say everything happens for a reason; the apartment complex is nice and it will be a one bedroom with balcony. They only had one one bedroom left and not ready for a move in, but working hard to get ready for me.

Ron, that looks like a real nice place in a good central location.

The tall, lanky guy with the big black hat is Cowboy, all right. And "horny" is the word he uses to describe himself. I'm not going to help him either, not that I could. He needs more help than I could provide.

    Good morning.

Judith— I'm with you. I only fold sheets 2-3 times of year when I switch seasonally. They go right on the bed from the dryer. Linen, too. I might consider ironing the pillow slips if the iron was set up. FWIW, I don't iron linen garments unless they're tailored, so trousers— yes but drawstring waist— no.

Ron— The new place looks great. I love that you'll have a balcony and a real kitchen. And it looks like it's a well-regarded complex. I hope your furniture fits. I have a friend who is an interior designer whose bread & butter come from helping downsizers from big singles/McMansions to the tony CCRC style their new digs.

Eaglemom— FIFA is impacting traffic everywhere. In Philly, they've created a free fanfest at one of the big parks. Parking and driving are restricted in the general area. Local residents were given parking passes but the idiots at the justifiably loathed parking authority towed 35 cars on Sunday anyway. Fun times.

Gothic G— I'm enjoying FIFA on TV and in my feeds. IRL, it looks way to people-y for my tastes. I'm especially enjoying the antics of the Scotland and Norway contingents. Word is Scotland drank Boston dry. I am not surprised.

Of course you played sax— you're one of the cool kids.

Iris— I enjoyed the Vikings, too. And the Scottish coneheads.

Lorita— Maybe your fitted sheets aren't deep enough. If you're using older sets (from back when you could easily find nice cotton), they might not have deep pockets. My mattress is an older pillowtop style and must be about 16" high. I buy the deep pocket style fitted sheet with elastic that goes all the way around and has an additional elastic at each corner. The top/bottom is marked on the fitted sheet on the king-sizes which is helpful. They never pop off. Costco carries this style but I'm not loving the quality of their Kirkland brand sheets of late. I bought a Target fitted sheet after DH put his foot through a 15-month-old Kirkland bottom sheet. It's very similar to the Kirkland.

These are the ones I have on DS's bed. They're a NYT "Wirecutter" recommendation and quite reasonable.

Carl— I'm glad you were able to be there for your lunch buddy. Cowboy sounds like a real creep. One would think women of a certain age would be relieved of dealing with badly behaved idiots. Just eww.

I got a chuckle out of your assessment that DS would wear a girl scout camp shirt if it was cheap enough. I have a friend who used to work for a nonprofit serving Philly's homeless community. She managed a drop-in center that had showers and laundry services. I often donate clothing to this charity. The nicer stuff goes to their thrift store to raise funds and the useable but unsellable goes to the closet of the drop-in center to give to those in need. A few years ago, I saw a man wearing what was certainly one on DS's outgrown Camp Ockinickon BSR tees.
    ____________________________________________________________________

I took mom out on Wednesday to pay her taxes and just get out of the house. Even with her POC she was winded with the slightest effort. She needed to rest climbing a set of 6 steps. This is not her baseline. We bumped up her O2 and I was able to schedule her for a visit with the pulmo yesterday. It was not my imagination, her chest is full of fluid even with diuretics. We're hesitant to increase them too much as her BP runs fairly low anyway and that's what cost her the vision in her left eye. I'm waiting on a call from the hospital to get her scheduled for a thoracentesis hopefully next week. She's got to hold her aspirin therapy for 5 days prior, so Wednesday at the soonest. She had the procedure last back in March; it can be done "as needed".

Pulmo is vague about next steps if she becomes a frequent flyer with the procedure but he agrees with me that it's fine for her to come off the O2 to hang in the pool as a quality-of-life issue. He actually encourages it. He's one of my favorites of her team.

I hope all have a pleasant day.
