Beth, sounds like you got a !ot accomplished today. Makes me feel.lazy, which I am. I filled the water tank twice and fed cats and GPs, that's it.
We have two Asian pear trees up at the MH and when I drove by the other day I think I saw some on the trees. They don't ripen until September or October so probably won't make it unless it rains. I need to get up there and check them and the grass. They' have our cows out of that pasture so hoppers are eating what grass there may be.
The drought monitor doesn't show this area to be in a drought but something is drastically wrong. In my 82 years here I have never seen it like it is now, the first of August. Darwin is 85 and he says the same thing. Worries us.
Hope everyone is well, see you tomorrow.

Good morning, on the way to senior center for ice scream social.

Morning. I think it will be "warm" today. Had Toad close main gate this morning and I let "our" cows out into the drivrway. Maybe in the quarter mile they can find some grass. Tried to get all the babies out but didn't get that done. They are so sweet. There's at least five or sIx really little ones in our herd and more with the heifers. The moms will be back up later and find their babies. I think the goal is t o move the bulls and let both sets together. Hope that comes to fruition . I think I stayed out a bit too long.
My car, PU and Gator are covered with tree sap so are sticky. I hope Washin g them will take care that. I moved them from under the tree. Strange there's sap now.

you are always on the go, David
that’s why I don’t like to park under trees Lorita. Bird droppings are a nuisance too.

My doctors all have told me to stay active as much as possible to help slow the progression of my dementia. So, I try to stay active with the senior Center. I do exercise classes twice a week in addition to any doctor appointments by Friday my wife and I exhausted and so on Friday we do not schedule anything.
During my" FREE TIME" I like to read right now I am reading James Patterson Mid-Night Club.

I love to read Patterson…also Sidney Sheldon and Michael Creighton and of course Dan Brown

I also like Robert Parker, Danielle Steele. As you can see I like to read mostly Dective stories and mysteries.

I do not know Robert Parker and gave up on Steele. It seemed like all of her books were the same. My favorite Brown is The Lost Symbol. Have y ou read that one???
0 -
No I have not read The lost One. If you can find Robert Parker you will not be disappointed. I have only been reading since I've been diagnosed. Now I read like crazy.i can't believe how much I've been missing over the years by not reading .

Your very silly giggle of the day.
I heard this on the radio. A woman stopped for bread at the store, but by the time she got home it was toast!
Yes, it's that hot.

😄 Eaglemom!

That's the truth, Eagle. And, it's going to get hotter the next three days! I'm ready for Fall!

Here is an interesting and heartwarming story about how people save animals endangered by wildfires.

Thank you for the link, Iris. There are good, caring people in our world. Those people are earning their wings for sure. When Australia had their terrible fires the news showed a clip of a couple driving and they saw a koala clinging to a tree in s burned out area. They stopped, got him out of the tree and gave him a drink of water out of a bottle. Probably saved his life.

Good Morning.
Hoping everyone has a good day.

Morning, looks like another hot one. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, after all it is August in Oklahoma. Enjoy your day.

Timely dad-joke there, eaglemom.
Judith— I normally see you level of shoe-judginess reserved for Crocs and Zeezy Foam Runners (these Cyber trucks of the shoeworld, IMO), LOL.
Our dry weather seems to be breaking. We've had several hours of rain the last 2 days, and the forecast shows rain likely through Saturday. I'm not ready for fall but am looking forward to next week being sunny with a high of 80F through the weekend. The coneflowers near my garage look dead. I think I'll rip them out and move a couple peonies there and fill in with annuals from now on.
It's a quiet day here. We'll do BLTs for dinner. Fresh local tomatoes, crusty sourdough from the bakery, thick-sliced bacon— my favorite summer meal. I may pick up some corn to go along with it, I drive by the farm stands on my way to Costco.
Mom had her pre-op testing yesterday. She passed. We have a consult with the surgeon early next month.
I hope all are well and am thinking of those in the path of Debby. My BIL is on track for something like 20" of rain. He's refusing to get out ahead of the storm and thinks he'll be OK unless a tree comes down on the house. I hope he's right. He's 1/2 mile from the beach but only 1/4 mile from the Intercoastal Waterway just north of Myrtle Beach. Having survived a flood that saw 3' of water on our 2nd floor, DH and I think he's not thinking clearly.
Be safe out there.

HB…I did not know about the foam runners. They are really "clunky ugly"…lol. I have a lot of really pretty shoes that I now can not wear. Alas, I now wear Orthofeet 95% of the time.
Had the Generac serviced yesterday. They changed the sparkplugs, and replaced the oil and air filters and put in fresh oil. I aske about ants. He said there were none. When I asked why they were ever in a Generac he replied that if stuff gets blown in the ants will follow and make a nest. They have to be cleaned out and the area washed down with white vinegar.
This week is training for the upcoming Picasso exhibit. Really looking forward to it. This is an early work of his.

Judith—
I assure you that Foam Runners are even uglier in person. There's a young med tech at mom's retina specialist who wears them— I kind of feel badly about the number of hours she worked to pay for them.
That should be an exciting installation. Does it cover a specific period or medium?
HB0 -
HB…do not know yet. They are expensive??? Boy howdy, they better be really good for you to make up for the ugly…lol

Hello, it poured this morning and as a result it has cooled off drastically it is 3 p.m. and it is 68 degrees. It is supposed to 70 degrees tomorrow. We are supposed to get the remains of Debby on Friday and Saturday we may get 2 to 3 inches of rain.

List price at Addidas is about $90 these days but you can get them for about $75. When they first came out, before Kanye alienated many of his fans, there was a premium and many bought on a black market for $300+ in some colors. The tech had hers in that era and they were a "desirable" color pattern and cost her almost $400. She did say they were like wearing slippers to work.

Hmmm…slippers to work. That has to be worth some dollars!

Hello All, you Rockers.
My son and I and Molly and my 2 kitties, Sammy and Emmy are all settled in the apartment we moved into in Bend, Oregon. it's a nice apartment and Molly even has a little fenced in backyard. I have been spending this week changing my address with everyplace that needs to know. Next week I will be getting everything for the move to Arizona.
My car is being hauled to Arizona on August 15, my son will be getting a large SUV and we along with my critters will be leaving early morning on August 16 and driving to Arizona. My kids have got this all figured out, Iam lucky for that, there it is way too much for me to do. right now, Iam getting all rested up and let them be the bosses till I get to Arizona. 🤣
Take care all Iam going to try to get caught up with all the post I have missed.
Hello Karen, welcome to the front porch.
Hugs Zetta

Can't imagine wearing those shoes to work unless the workplace is very laid back. Zetta, enjoy the cooler weather I guess you're having, you'll be very warm in Arizona. Is it northern or southern Arizona? I liked the north.part but never went farther south except to Sedona and that was in Aptil. Heat is heat even if it's dry. Have a safe trip. I'm sure you'll post again before you leave.
Joan, how are you? Hope your surgery recovery is going well. We would like to hear from you.
It was over 100 today, too hot for anything. Sleep tight, everyone.

Those Foam Runners are indeed ugly! But I might need them, my usual Acics are pinching my big toe. This is in a wide size.
I just got am earthquake warning! Here it is! This is the first alert that really worked. 5.7 earthquake north of me.
One of my cousins passed away early this morning, age 66. He had been on dialysis since his mid-20's. Despite his illness, he had a full career as a police officer and raised a family. RIP, Cousin!
