Good for you, Iris. I've lost 37, six more to go. I'm where I was ten years ago and back in clothes I wore then, like trouser jeans for example. Now guess I will donate clothes that are too big.
It has been a beautiful day but long. FedEx brought canned dog food and he asked if he could get a start of the prickly pear cactus.. Told him to take all.of them It took him a long time, trying to .get thorns out probably.. You can walk past those things and get thorns.
Been watching past episodes of Yellowstone. Don't forget the last season begins tomorrow night.
Sleep well tonight.

Lorita, good for you on your weight loss! Those final few pounds can be a struggle. Keep up the good work!
Is prickly pear cactus the same as Nogales cactus? My neighbor cooks and eats nopales cactus, they grow around here.
I didn't go to the Veterans' Day event, I stayed home.

Good morning
Lorita have eaten cornbread and milk since i was a child. It is a comfort food to me

Thanks for the cornbread recipes, friends. I'll try them next time I make brown beans.
Kudos to you who are losing weight. I think i found what you lost, LOL
I don't think I can get my wife to the Veteran's Day parade, but I'll at least be sure I have our flag up.
When I was a little boy, President Harry Truman walked right down the middle of South Avenue in Springfield, Missouri in his old WWI captain's uniform in the Veteran's Day parade. My father held me up so I could see him.

Morning, looks like a beautiful day is on tap, and, there is grass growing in the yard. It's about 2" tall so if we can avoid a frost the girls might get a little grazing in before the dead of winter. There's a green cast on the pastures and meadows.
I've hovered on this weight for a Couple of weeks, Iris, but finally lost another pound. So true about those last ones to come off.I will keep trying.
I don't think prickly pear and Nogales cacti are the same. Prickly pear have big leaves? Covered with tiny thorns that get in your skin and are hard to get out, and hurt. The leaves are paddle shaped and people do eat them. They have beautuful, yellow blooms, then grow reddish-purple round shaped things that are edible. When we went to the Grand Canyon all along I-40 there were shops that sold cactus candy and handkerchiefs, probably made from prickly pears. They are very invasive and hard to get rid of.
The GPs wanted out about 1 a.m., then in about 3, then out again. Now in, asleep. I heard dogs barking somewhere so that was probably the problem.
Two good football games on today but at the same time. Which to watch! Eagle, I imagine you will watch the Chiefs. I probably will switch back and forth.
Enjoy your day and don't forget Yellowstone tonight. I need to get the flag up today.

Jiffy mix then honey on top
Iris…we train 2x a month. We have to keep up with new exhibits and then we discuss tour "methods". We have group coming from kindergarten to 70-8?. Each tour is somewhat individual so we need to have tools at the ready for the best visit. It does keep the docents on their toes.
David…remember that your rocker is on the porch. Where ever you are just come on out and sit with us.

@jfkoc
When I tried to slip my people a cornbread that didn't come out of a Jiffy box it went very badly. Noses were out of joint over the fancy boxed mix gourmet version but they have pleaded with me never to make homemade ever again.
They also balk at cornbread prepared in a proper iron skillet insisting on my old agateware pan.

What a gorgeous day we are having. The bluest of blue sky and not a breath of wind. Simply awesome.
Lorita would you believe we can't watch the Chiefs? It's not being shown here. We don't have Paramount+ or the NFL Network so I'm bummed about that.
Aren't we all funny about our cornbread? Or maybe its our families that are funny about how we prepare cornbread. DH prefers his cooked in a cast-iron pan, baked in the oven. Think I might have to make some tonight!
I'm going to look around the yard and pretend to be busy! Anything to be outdoors. Back later.
Let's be safe everyone.

Besutiful day here, too, Eagle but we do have a west wind, just enough to make the flag fly. Here, the Chiefs game was on CBS,watched it and the Bucs off and on between feeding dogs, ordering groceries and getting the new flag ready to hang. The Chiefs won. by two points, I think. Bucs lost. There's a new baby across the pond. Been watching and finally saw it laying down with mom standing guard. Just now saw it up nursing, I think. Wish I could check but the tire on the Gator is too low and it's too far to walk all around the pond.
I need to get a shutter on the barn fixedbandb the mailbox straightened. It's leaning too far back and a gate rehung. Maybe when the guys come to do Darwin's work, they will have time to do my work.
Still can't get a call back from the electrician so In can use the air compressor. Frustrating for sure.
Sort of trying to catch up on the last season of Yellowstone. Better stop, having an ocular migraine. No pain, just the boomerang lights. Enjoy being outside, Eagle. I like fried cornbread, too. Think it's called corn pone..

Cornbread from scratch, white cornmeal and cast iron skillet is how I was raised.
Ron your jalapeno cornbread sounds like a meal by itself.
Got an apple cake made today with maple syrup glaze, delicious.
A few years back I lost 20 pounds and maintained that. When I was in hospital lost 5 pounds and have never gained it back. Week mom was in hospital I lost 4 more pounds. I never dreamed I would weigh what I weigh now. Hope i gain at least the 4 pounds back. I hardly had time to eat that week. Ive been able to cook some this weekend. It felt good.
Found a recipe to make Velveeta cheese. Super simple to do it seems. Judith I can hear you saying, why do you want to do that Mint? I’ve not eaten Velveeta in a long time because it is made from cheese and can set on shelf for a long time. Something isn't right but it is delicious. Im looking forward to enjoying it again.
wish each one a good night

My cornbread is baked in an old 8 inch square care pan.
David…The rockers on Lorita's porch are not really real. When we come here and share we just pretend that we are rocking together on her front porch looking out at at the pond and watching her cows. I have been on Lorita's porch for probably 10 years now.
Sometime we share travel. Sometimes a recipe. Sometime we just come out to share our troubles. We do have virtual parties …what a hoot!

Cast iron skillet for me when I make cornbread. The corn pone is meal or cornbread mix and hot water. You make a pretty thick Pattie in your hand and slide it into hot oil or grease. Really good!.
Judith, you, Sandy and I have sat on the porch longer then ten years. Charles has been gone just short of ten years and we were there quite a long time before that. I joined in 2008, when Charles was diagnosed and I needed guidance for what was happening. Long time friends.

I know there aren't any real rocking chairs just a way to feel we are friends talking about out anything.

David…when Lorita started the thread we did not sit in rockers. We just chatted. We became life long friends and added more as the years have gone by. Now we are a long string of pearls with new additions all the time.

That's so true. I'm always anxious to read what's going on with everyone in the mornings.
Did you all watch Yelliowstone? Looks like it will be a good season. I heard Kevin Costner was leaving the show but had no idea it would be like this. Judith, Rip is as good looking as ever, especially with his hat on.

The only TV show I watch is Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage on CBS.

I don't watch TV unless DW is watching, because she goes with me everywhere, so we only watch things she can handle. She can't follow the story on things like "Call the Midwife" anymore and can't tolerate the violence on westerns and cop shows, so we watch "America's Funniest Videos" and nature shows mostly.

David….you are already a part of the string of pearls and will be where ever you are.
Ron….handsome soldier.
Mint….you are right…why? What do you use Velveeta for? My daughter uses it for Rotel dip.

Morning, how handsome you were/are, Ron. How long were you in the Army?
David, you are one of the friends now and will be as long as you want to be.
Mint, how in the world do you make Velveeta? Bet it takes a while.
Another beautiful day in Eastern Okla. I ordered groceries to be delivered this afternoon. Won't have to go to WM tomorrow when I go to get my flu shot.
Need to shampoo my hair this afternoon. Everything is quiet outside this morning.but so guess no trucks have bee
n around yet. Hope everyone is well today. Still not used to the time change.

Only 8 more days until I go to the VA home and I will do my best to stay on the porch.

Good morning everyone! I am a Vietnam Era veteran of the United States Air Force. I was stationed state-side. I finished service 44 years ago.
Ron, yes, you were a handsome soldier!
Lorita, it's a nice day here, but I can smell the smoke from the wildfire which is about 60 or so miles from me.
David, what will you be taking with you, aside from your clothing?
Iris
