Carl, you may be right about Paul and Robert. I had an interesting back and forth with Paul Newman in Santa Fe. I did not know who he was until he was 1/2 way across the Trades Joe's parking lot. His blue eyes were almost a beautiful as my husband's.

You saw Paul Newmsn, Judith? Did you talk to him? You had to be close to see his eyes. My daddy also had beautiful blue eyes.

My favorite western actor was John Wayne and in later years Tom Selleck. The secretary in Fiscal at the VA had a huge pośter of him on the wall by the door.

Judith, how long ago did you all sell your home in Santa Fe? I imagine you miss being there, especially this time of year but I think they just had snow. I remember how beautiful the golden Aspen trees were in Kit Carson National Forest. No leaf color around here this year, hardly any leaves even.

Judith, you actually met Paul Newman! I'm jealous.

Another beautiful day in SoCal, clear blue sky, temp 60 degrees.

You have a nice stepdaughter, David.

Paul Newman is shopping in Trader's in Santo Fe. We are shopping the same isle and make a few comments back and forth. Same thing at checkout. The lines are always long and everyone chats.

I do not miss Santa Fe at all. There is an enormous amount of "ill will" that understandably invades the whole town. 30 years ago it was quite different. It had flavor. 10 years ago it was totally tourist and "gentrified". Both Dick and I hated it.

I did love Christmas there. When we left it was still a very religious community so Christmas was about the birth of Jesus. The farolitas are beautiful when they are lit Christmas Eve. One year ( before we owned the house) it won the grand prize.

Oh, I had a similar experience with Dustin Hoffman in NYC. We ran into each other 3 times in one day. The third time was on an elevator. He said "hello again" and we laughed.

One time I was getting on an elevator and a movie star was getting off. I said "oh, it's you" and she said "yes" and we smiled. I could not, at the time remember her name…lol.

You were in the right place st the right time. Judith. Kind of the same thing happened only in Eureka Spring, too. Just not the same as it used to be. Guess it may have increased happened i many places. What kind of protein drink mix do yoh all use? I have Garden of Life organic but it tastes powdery when I mix it. Tastes good but don't like the powdery taste. I just made one with Miilk. Banana. Vanilla yogurt and a spoonful of peanut butter. Very filling, could only drink.half. Maybe I can freeze it and it might be better. Used to.have some that was better.

Bradley came to.measure barn doors and to fix power to carport. I went out and we tried to figure it out. He flipped a switch a Couple of times and it came on. He and the other man are really nice.

Thanks, Mint. The Beaver Moon is big and so bright. Wouldn't even need a flashlight to go outside walking.

Ordered my green and white pain for the shutters and trim around the cowshed doors. The shutters and stall door will be white with the trim green, just as they have been. Had new shutters made but not painted yet. Our pipe corral is white with green gates and the other gates on the farm are green. Need to have the corral painted again. I like to.paint but won't attempt the corral or trim around the top of the barn. White paint should be here tomorrow so I can get that done before the green paint gets here. Won't paint if it gets really cold or it rains and gets the wood wet. May take a while.

Painting is something I do not like to do. Always looks nice when done.

    Good morning.

It's chilly here this morning but supposed to warm up. DS has a rare Saturday off, so I am asking him to finish cutting down the rest of the perennials.

I promised to take mom food shopping over the weekend. I think I'll do it today as she called because she can't figure out how to change the settings on her new freezer. This is another example of a good deed gone bad— I thought the freezer would simplify my life by simplifying hers. Here's hoping this doesn't become a new thing to manage every time her power goes out.

I learned my cousin is coming Thanksgiving week. I thought we'd dodged that bullet. I should be pleased for her to have company and someone to entertain her, but it always makes me feel like I'm slacking in that department. Between doctor's appointments and errands, it's rare I have free time to do anything purely fun with her. I need to do better. I was thinking maybe the Holiday House Tour in the cute town where she lives next week.

DS still doesn't have his car back. I am concerned about this. The shop has had it 3 weeks now and the owner promised it for this past week as late as Thursday morning. When DH and DS stopped by on Friday afternoon, the shop was closed and it's not even clear if the car has been moved. Normally, I'd be salty about this in addition to how inconvenient it's been. But I've used this mechanic since 1998 and he's been great. I sort of inherited him from my dad. When I told him dad was moving back because he had dementia he's the one who let out a long, low whistle and said "Dad Buzzed with dementia? That's gotta be something."

This is so very uncharacteristic of him it makes me wonder if something awful is going on in his personal life. He's got older parents (dad with dementia), a wife, 2 "princess" high school step-daughters, a middle-schooler and the MIL-from-hell. It's a lot.

Still, if he couldn't get to it, we could have dealt with it elsewhere by now. I had to Uber home from the dentist Wednesday and getting people where they need to be requires a lot of planning and compromise.

'Morning, bright and sunny and very windy .Sorry you didn't get to see the Beaver moon, Mint. It was gorgeous. Beaver makes me think about all the beavers they killed across from us. Poor little things working to make their homes for winter Took down the new flag so it wouldn't get torn up today and the next Couple of days.

Looks like somehow I have double spacing. Wonder how that happened?

HB, I know how frustrating it must be that your son's car has been in the shop so long. Makes it harder on everyone. Back later.

HB, your car problem reminds me when my.Mercury stopped running I had if towed to the shop. It was there three or four weeks. I would call and they were still trying to find the problems. Once I called and didn't get an answer. Called the nearby pharmacy and was told the shop had closed. They left my unfixed car on the lot but didn't call me. I knew the guy at the salvage yard so had him pick it up.

Very surprised because the owner seemed to be a good guy and mechanic. I still miss that car, big and so easy riding. You just never know. Hope your son has better luck.

I just took all my summer, gauze pants and others oot of closet and put them in a storage box. Also found a Couple of coats I had forgotten in the wardrobe and two really nice ones that Charles had. Found three or four pairs of jeans I have never worn.

Now I need to go through the blouses and decide which ones to donate. I don't have a walk in closet, just a long one and a smaller one and the wardrobe. I need to get.one of those things like they have in stores but have no idea where to put it. Sorry about the post. It skipped down and stopped bolding. I am.cutting myself off from ordering clothes! I have tried calling the Mission several times with no answer. Just need to put all these clothes in the car and take them when I go into town. I think there are three places that take donations.

I hear the girls bawling so they may be feeding.

Good afternoon everyone. Boy, I've certainly missed y'all.

Last week was busy, too busy and all self inflicted! Does anyone else do that to themselves? I did accomplish a lot, but feel as though I missed out being on here. The biggest project was the hot tub and preparing it for winter. I don't use it in the summer - its simply too hot. I drained it, power washed it inside and outside and cleaned the filters. Then I polished the inside shell and refilled it. The water is balanced and ready to go. I still need to polish the cover and the skirt. That will wait a bit. I very much enjoy the hot tub. What I hate is getting into the hot tub and then getting out. My knees just scream at me. That takes away all of the relaxation for sure.

We had several appointment and I guess life kept me busy! Next week looks like it might be the same way, ugh.

Iris, I have an app (and you can go to the website) for the International Space station. We go out and watch it in awe every time it is flying overhead. The first time I saw it, I had a very deep emotional reaction. I still do, but I'm ready for it now. I was born and raised in KS, in a tiny town with brick streets and not stop lights. So you could go a mile out of town and look up and be in the middle of the Milky Way. That blew my mind as a child, and as an adult DH and I still go and look at the Milky Way every time we go home. Such beauty.

Lorita we've got football to watch today and tomorrow. I need to cut back two bushes in the yard then I'm going to watch. Last week wore me out and my knee are telling me about it. I've already got dinner going - smoking some steaks.

    Be safe everyone.

Sounds like you need to relax and rest a bit this weekend. The girls are enjoying their hot tub right now. Several are standing belly deep or more in the pond. Wind is awful today.

Who is playing that you will watch? I know what you mean about your knees rebelling when you get up. Mine sound like popcotn.popping.

I do wish I could have all of these clothes picked up. Dread getting them out to the car. No Goodwill or SA in our town.

Hello everyone, one day closer to my move to the VA home, My son and daughter in law came for a visit today and they took a lot my stuff that I wanted them to have after I am gone. They took my good silverware, a couple of Afghans (one he will send to his sister in Texas) all kinds of pics. After I have moved he will return to take my late wife's hope chest and my man chest for his son to use. Right now my heart is beating like crazy and I am nervous as hell. Like I have said before it is a hard move but it is the correct move.

HB the mechanic could be sick himself. It’s kind of bad though to be left out of the loop. Hope you find out soon. My sister so Savannah to go to ER yesterday and when my sister went up there car wouldn’t shut up. So she ended up going to the third place, they got it taken care of Apparently has something to do with her remote starter .

Eagle I’ve been wondering about you. Several rocking chairs have been empty this week. What is a busy week for me too.

David, I can understand all those emotions. Think that would be pretty normal.

This is my Velveeta cheese. I wouldn’t say it taste exactly like velveeta. I think it’s just a little bit firmer than velveeta. I only use the fourth of the recipe. I’ll wait and see how it tastes and after I make a few things with it. Then if I like it the next time, I’ll probably make half of the recipe. I couldn’t even make it into a loaf because even my small loaf pan was too big.

I also got my cranberry relish made so will be interesting to see if it gels like she said it would from the pectin in the apples. I think even if it doesn’t it’ll still be thick enough that it would stay on a sandwich. I like cranberry gel on like a chicken turkey or a ham sandwich, so we’ll see.

got one of the bedroom suits from my other house moved to my empty bedroom today. My mom also had a nice teak table that she used on the back patio. So I now have a nice table on my closed porch.

David…the move must be terribly difficult. Try to take it slowly. You are moving less than 1 hour away and remember if yuu hate it you can leave.

Eagle, I grew up in Brooklyn in the 1950s but I could see stars in the sky.

I helped a friend of mine pack her belongings today. Next week she will move, but she hired a couple of guys to do the actual moving.

David, best wishes on your new home with your fellow veterans!

David, you'll make lots of new and good friends and we'll always be here. You have a bug adventure ahead of you. I have been around veterans for the last 63 years and there's no better people and they are loyal to each other. You will be fine.

Watching the last 30 minutes of Forrest Gump, then going to bed. Good night, sleep tight.

It's cloudy here so we missed the full moon but saw it the night before when it was almost full. Beautiful. DW had a bellyache so we went to the 24 hour Walgreen's at 4 AM to get some Tums antiacid/antigas. I guess she has a virus because she threw up yesterday and slept all day without eating. Better today and able to eat but still hurts. At least we saw the moon.

I seldom drive at night anymore but I can still do it when I know where I'm going.
