Good morning
Been cloudy here in Ohio too. Did not get to see the full moon.

Good morning everyone,
I've been reading but just very busy this past week or so. Lots to do as we get ready for winter. And some sadness has occurred. I will spare you the gory details but share that we lost 4 sheep after we moved them here. DH has been heartbroken as he raised 2 of them as bottle babies. Farm life can be hard. As owners we are responsible for the wellbeing of our animals, and it hurts when something happens to them.
Preparation for Thanksgiving is well underway. It's supposed to rain so I have decided to do tables in the garage as well as the dining room table and kitchen island. The good part of that is a good garage cleaning is required (YAY!). I have a huge rug to put down, new tablecloths for the portable tables and decorations. Got lots of "stuff" 50% off this week.
I've reorganized half of the food pantry by placing things in small clear tubs to keep them together neatly. A work in progress. And my DH has been banned from putting groceries away. Bless him.. he is a "just stick it there" kind of guy when it comes to the pantry. Yet go to his toolbox and he can put his hand on anything without looking. I tried using this analogy to no avail and no success. lol
Made meatloaf yesterday and one to freeze for Scottsboro. Got all my dry goods and meat ready to go for Thanksgiving. Only left to do will be what I need fresh the day before.
Today we are going to a flea market called Taco Bet. It's on top of the mountain above Scottsboro. There is a lady who has a huge booth of flower arrangements for the cemetery. We go each season to buy what we need for all our people. Her prices are reasonable, and she does good work.
We are thinking to go away for Christmas. Not sure where. It's DH's turn to pick. So, we'll see.
Have a good day everyone. Off here and on to the next thing to get this day started~

Good morning. Still unseasonably warm and dry here. We might get a little rain Thursday. I do hope so— it's so dry. I may try to wrap up prepping the front beds for the winter.
Mint— I suppose he could be ill, but it sounds more like he's got something in his personal life going on. The young man who works with him is a nephew so if the shop's closed maybe it's one of his parents. But it could be an emerging medical issue for him that's requiring appointments and tests.
The homemade Velveeta looks fine to my eye. I wonder if the additives you're looking to avoid are associated with the firmer texture— so much of food chemistry is aimed at consistency of texture.
Lorita— I loved Forrest Gump. Just an FYI, the director has recently released a new movie "Here" with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright in the lead roles. It works around the gimmick of the action taking place in a single place that is the living room. It's doesn't get fabulous reviews, but I'm interested. Trigger warning: the trailer hints at Wright's character having dementia.
David— If the VA home near you is like the one here, it'll be a good fit for someone as busy and social as you like to be.
Carl— I hope today is a better day for you and your DW. I'm sorry you missed the Beaver Super Moon. It was beautiful.
Eagle— I'll have to check out that app. DS and I once saw the ISS driving south on Rt. 1 in southern DE on a clear autumn evening. It seemed to almost glitter. I've not seen it since.
Iris— Congratulations on your new Starbucks! My little town is bougie enough have 3— the one in the middle is >1500' from the one on State Street and about 700' from the one in the supermarket. Not to mention the Dunkin and several independent coffee shops. It's crazy.
Beth— I hope the cruise is going well. My friend who started a 6-day dive boat cruise off Belize on the 10th was unable to fly home yesterday because of weather. She's stuck in Belize City until Wednesday night. She's retired, so it's no biggie for her aside from an additional 5 nights in a hotel assuming she found a room. Her son is traveling with her and probably wasn't prepared to work remotely for an additional 3 days.

DH is driving DS to work today. Yay! Turns out he needed to be in at 8:30 so it was an earlier start than usual. Kid had to wake me up which is unusual. Today is the first of the Christmas-themed trains. They seem to start earlier every year— they even ran a couple "Christmas in July" specials this summer. It's a license to print money.
I got a rare phone call from my mother yesterday at 8:30am. She was flustered about her new freezer. She was under the impression that she needed to "do something" to make it work now that it's been plugged in for the minimum 24 hours. She claimed she was reading the manual and was confused. I asked her if the delivery team hadn't set it up for her and she said she wasn't sure, but they said something about not opening it for 4 hours. I said I'd come by. It never goes well when I try to offer tech support over the phone— I stopped trying after spending 40 minutes once trying to explain how to send a photograph via text. When I got off the phone DH asked casually "why were you yelling at your mom today?" as if it was regular occurrence.
I got to her house, and she was more rattled than I knew. I asked if the freezer was cold inside. She said she wasn't sure. Turns out she was worried that the freezer might overheat and cause the canister oxygen in the garage to explode. And yet, she was encouraging me to check it. Turns out the freezer is fine and ready to be filled. Lately her short-term memory has been a bit better than in the spring before her Lyme treatment. The flaking is no better, but I still wonder if I'm imagining a cognitive slide. Yesterday was something of a splash of cold water in the face.

Beth's travels - cruise day 1 was embarkation, day 2 & 3 were sea days, day 4 & 5 were Aruba and Curacao, day 6 (today, Sunday) is a sea day. On our way to Columbia.
Aruba - we took an island tour followed by beach break. Aruba is a semi arid island (desert) that is 19 miles long. We saw some lovely natural features - I'll post photos whenever they transport themselves from my iPhone to my laptop. We then had beach time. It rained, very hard, and we sheltered in a partially open air bar for 2 hours. There are no gutter grates in the roads - it's desert! It doesn't rain much! But that day, it did. The streets and parking lots were very flooded.
Curacao - Walked around, shopped, and took an island tour followed by a trip to a distillery and time on the beach. Curacao is another semi arid island. It's where the liquor Curacao is made. It's made from orange peels. We got to taste - loved the chocolate version and bought a bottle. This beach break was sunny and warm. My Curacao photos did import although Aruba's did not. Will attach…baseball player murals are MLB players who were from Curacao.
Today, breakfast, laundromat, now enjoying some sunshine. Will plan on going to the gym and swimming later. We have been going to the theater for shows every evening.
More to follow…

Judith, you are a decluttering dynamo. When we moved in September, we hired someone to take things to the landfill. We also had Salvation Army out to pick up items 4 or 5 times. Also, we took items to a dumpster. Lots of things. It's crazy how much one can accumulate in the 34 years we lived in the previous house.
Lorita, sounds like you also are doing some decluttering. It does keep us busy.
HB, sorry you are so busy. Does it ever slow down? Do you ever get relaxation time and fun time? I hope you will soon.
Eagle, I too have an app for the Space Station (Sky Guide). It's not totally reliable in its notifications for me. It'll go weeks or longer without notifying me of a pass by. Grrrr. Oh well, it is a free app. Enjoy your hot tub as the weather gets a bit cooler for you.
Lorita, Eagle - I live in Iowa. For NFL, there are fans here for the Vikings, Bears, Chiefs, Packers…we're kind of in the middle of it all. Also, we have former Iowa State University players on the Jets and 49'rs so there are fans for those teams too. I like Iowa State (college) and the Chiefs. I like our ISU alum David Montgomery on the Lions too.
David, best wishes for your move. Prayers for you and your wife.
Mint, will you be selling your home that your mom lived in? Enjoy your cheese. Do you find it tastier, cheaper, healthier than the store bought version? Do you still bake bread? I was thinking of making sourdough bread - thinking maybe a gluten free person could tolerate it….we'll see.
JeriLynn, so sorry for the loss. Animals give us joy and pain.
Iris, glad you got to see the Space Station. It is a special experience. If you have the app, and hold the viewer up it'll identify the planets and stars you point it at.
Hugs, Beth

Iris, it was 1907. JeriLynn, so very sorry about your little goats. I know exactly how you are feeling. It hurts to lose them. Just this morning I was remembering the loss of one of our cows who bloated. We remember each not them. Cloudy here today but supposed to be about 70 with rain and storms tomorrow. Will read more later.

JeriLynn so sorry about the loss of your sheep. Know that hurts. Hope to in the next few months completely declutter my house if that is possible. My pantry needs it bad.
HB you could be right about texture of cheese. I’m going to try some on my burger tonight if i don't forget. I understand the wondering about if you’re making things up regarding your mother. I had that feeling a lot.
It’s kind of interesting, My mom thinks only the workers there should do anything for her now. I was there about 15 minutes today and she said to me you can go now everybody here is really good to me. I told her well I’m going to stay a little while I stayed about an hour. They are very good to her. They keep her really nice. The nurse talked with me this morning and said your mother has really adjusted quickly much quicker than we thought she might. I said I know and I’m really thankful but I told my sister she’s kind of making a liar out of us.
Beth I am in the process of getting my house ready to sell. I have one last repair that I’m working on and hopefully it’ll get done this week. Then I had the house in a trust so I’m supposed to be able to pick up the paperwork sometime this week that has to be completed when the house is sold. I wanted to get that ahead of time so if the house sold quickly, it was not a hindrance. I think on Friday I got the last financial paper type work I needed completed. So now I just have to wait and hear back if they all accept my POA , so they will do what I need them to do. I was able to get the Hoyer returned last Wednesday. Hopefully that will go well and gets to its destination and I’ll get a big portion of my money back. The other thing I have to do is buy an electric bed for my mom. they let us use the one they have there for when people first arrive. So after Thanksgiving, my sister and I are going to work on getting that. Then I hope my life gets a little bit normal if there is such a thing. I’m really looking forward to being able to declutter my house. I do miss though my mom calling me and being able to call her even though it was so stressful because you never knew what was going to happen or what she was going to say. I’m afraid to give her a phone though for two reasons. One if she starts calling me a lot at night and the other is I’m not sure that she would use it at all and then I just be paying a bill for nothing. I’m just gonna let everything slide for a while and go from there. Glad you are enjoying your trip.

I am now going through memory boxes. Just finished my scrapbook from my 7-8 grades. I laugh, then sigh then shed a tear. Came across my certificate for Pro-Marksman…National Rifle Association. What a kick. I know one grandson who will really appreciate the "honor".
Rainey inside day…perfect for memories.

Good afternoon all. Kind of grey out, looks like rain, but that's not suppose to happen until late tonight. We need it, so I'm hoping it begins early and is a gentle ground soaking rain.
Iris you ask about football. Both DH and I are alumni of Kansas State, so of course we watch whenever we can. Yesterday's game was awful, very uncharacteristic for them. I'm afraid that loss will really hurt our bowl game bid. And of course we are KC Chief's fans.
I need to look up a recipe my mom had that had Velveeta cheese. If I'm remembering correctly, it was for Brownies! If you didn't know the ingredient's you'd never know that Velveeta was included. That's what I'll do while the Chief's are playing today - go through her recipes and have wonderful memories.
Back later, after a Chief's win.

JeriLynn, I'm so sorry about the sheep! How is the little kitten doing?
Lorita, my father was born in 1915.
Beth, this was my second time seeing the Space Station, that's enough.
It's chilly but with clear blue skies. I envy you in being in the Caribbean with the warm breezes.
I'm going to try to get my flu and COVID vaccinations today.
HB, you are so busy, do you have plans for a big Thanksgiving Day dinner?
Iris

HB…the freezer story is priceless. What are the Christmas trains?

We liked to go to flea markets and garage sales. Went to a.big one down by Dallas once. Think it was called First Monday?
Judith, you were a pro marksman? Do you Still own a gun and shoot? No rain here today.
Iris, my.mother was born in 1915. Must have been a good year! I have had my flu shot and depending on the weather may get the covid one this week. Hope you were able to get yours today.
Beth, the pictures are beautiful. What a huge ship! Which deck is your room on?
Eagle, looks like KC is playing in Buffalo - don't see a lot of red.
Took down the trash, doing a load of winter hats, gloves and scarves and brought in two big boxes of cat and dog food so I'm ready to watch the football game. Shoot, Bills just scored.
Anyone watching Yellowstone this year?

I got both my flu vaccine and my COVID vaccine this afternoon, so far no fever or sore arms or any side effects.

I had a pro marksman certificate too, from my first year at Boy Scout camp. The class was taught by a soldier in uniform. I still own some guns, including several keepsakes like the .22 rifles left by my grandfather and my brother, but I haven't had time to shoot in several years. I had 20/15 vision when I was young, so rifle shooting and hitting baseballs came easily.
The ISS is really something. I remember when Sputnik went up, and we stopped the baseball game to watch it fly over. Then, it creeped us to see it, because no one but the USSR had been able to orbit a satellite.

I'll bet Yellowstone is great, but I've never seen it. My wife is frightened watching Westerns, cop shows, the news, anything with violence. I watched the news tonight, with her sitting right beside me because she shadows me, and she was upset by forest fires thousands of miles away because she feared they would spread to our house and leave us homeless or kill us. She loved Law & Order and NCIS for many years, but she can't separate fiction from reality anymore.

Good morning,
Iris, the little kitten has been adopted by one of the great granddaughters who works in a Vet Clinic and is in a happy place. Most of DH's great grands are cat lovers.
Rain begins tomorrow and the forecast keeps changing for the rest of the week. That means outside work must be completed today for next week's company/activities. We'll set up the garage when it rains and have that done. DH and great grandsons worked on the barn at Huntland Saturday. I drove up and what do I see but DH on top of the barn roof! Wasted breath on all those cautions to stay on the ground.
I'm making a strawberry cake today for my Aunt who had the stroke, has been diagnosed with dementia (no one can tell me anything further) and had pneumonia just recently that required hospitalization. I go down the road to her house a few times a week, another cousin goes a few times as well. My Aunt is no longer driving - I did at least get that accomplished.
Well I'm gonna go get that cake started. BBL and have a good day.

Good morning, Mint. We're getting rain this morning, with 30-40 mph wind gusts predicted. Chilly weather with highs in the 40's expected Wednesday. Time to dig out the woolies.

Good morning all.
I woke up early for some reason. I've already had a pot of tea and need to make a second. Decaf this time or I'll be buzzy all day.
Beth— I love the pictures. Thanks for sharing. Mural art is a favorite of mine. Philadelphia has one of the world's biggest mural arts programs and I always enjoy when I run into something I haven't seen before. I pass a bunch of them when I get my haircut; I like to walk from the train station so I can check them out. One of these days I'm going to do one of their tours. If you enjoy mural art, they have virtual tours on their website.
Jerilynn— I am so sorry about the sheep.
I can only imagine what your Thanksgiving is like as you seem to specialize in next-level cookery. Do you have a head count yet? When I saw my dentist who has a dozen or so kids, he said his hosting son said they expect around 50. He showed me the spread sheet the host sends out with assignments on it. Yikes.
Mint— How was the cheeseburger?
Dad readily accepted care from his aides once mom weaned him off his need for her to do everything. They were able to provide much better care as he saw them as professionals and allowed them to help him.
Iris— I'm not too sure about Thanksgiving Day. My niece hosts at her house. I'm excited to see her new $50K+ bathroom. It's small and her plumber husband did much of the work, but they had project creep, and a lot of custom stuff made for the space because of the size. Niece is taking her BFF for a gamma knife procedure the day before, so we rescheduled for Friday instead. Her friend was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer which has metastasized. The whole situation has been tragic. Maybe I'll do a dinner at home on the actual day just the 3 of us like the old days before my parents moved back. DS will be working Friday— it's one of the railroad's busiest days.
Carl— My dad did the same thing with TV. Initially, the characters became his friends and family. I think he thought he was Frank from Blue Bloods. Later, I had to put parental controls on the TV because he believed everything he saw was actually happening to him. The news and crime drams were bad, but The Weather Channel was the worst. He'd be sitting next to a window on a beautiful day and describe the snow, ice, hurricane and wild fire happening outside.
Judith— The Christmas trains are a Santa experience. They're very popular with families— we used to do them when DS was younger. Now he gets paid to do it which is a cost-saving for me. They have Santa and Mrs. Claus visit each seat, they have a sing-along, cocoa and cookies. Some people even wear PJs. LOL, he wants me to sign on as a Mrs. Claus. Nope.https://www.newhoperailroad.com/
I hope all have a pleasant day.

Good morning one more day before my big move to the VA. I am scared but I know it's right

Morning, we had some rain during the night and there is more west of us. The wind is very strong now - glad I took down the flag. Wind chimes are playing a tune and one of the.bird feefers was going in circles. The men were to come today to put a roof cap on Darwin's barn but I doubt they come. They would blow off the roof!
Same thing happened with.Charles. He watched world and local news and read all the news magazines. Then as the dementia progressed he thought the news men were talking to.him so we stopped watching. Hope everyone has a good Monday.
Carl, the storms may get you this morning. Be careful.
My ribs on the right side are sore this morning. Guess I twisted them dragging a heavy sack of trash out to the Gator instead of putting it in the cart and pushing it. Sandy, I will try to do as you say and not fill the sacks so full. Hope you and family are well.
DavId, thinking of you this morning. You will be fine.
0 -
Thank you, I know everything will be fine. It's just the uncertainty of it being something new. In a couple of days I will have a new routine and I will be o.k.

Check your carrots!!! It's almost to the point you don't know what to eat or not. I have some in the refrigerator so guess they'll go out.

here checking carrots….I have the right brand…bought them 10 days ago for soup…throwing them out

Good morning. Rain, we had rain last night and some this morning. Strong winds howling woke me around 5:15 this morning, blowing in the front. The temp has dropped almost 15 degrees since 7:00am.
David I know its scary, but I know you'll do just fine. People to chat with, stories to tell and hear, and most importantly people to help you. Both you and your wife will have an adjustment period, there is nothing wrong with tears.
Our Chief's just didn't look good from the opening kickoff. Kelce didn't catch but two passes. Personally I think Taylor has been a huge distraction for him. But that's my opinion only. I know he and Patrick just haven't looked like they have in years past.
I'm going to try to get the formal dining room tree undecorated today. So next week I can decorate it with Christmas. I keep two trees up year round, and decorate for the various holiday / seasons. It all started because DH was so very unhappy / depressed 6 yrs ago when I took down our Christmas tree. He loves the tree (its white flocked) and the lights. At that time I just thought to myself if the tree being up makes him happy I'm glad to put it back up. I've slowly gotten the seasons down for the den tree. The dining room tree is more 'formal' if you will. It is a lot of work, kill my knees, is a huge mess but his smile and gratitude that I do it makes it all worth it.
Let's be careful out there everyone. Back later.

JeriLynn, I'm glad the kittie has found a new home with your great-granddaughter.
This morning, after my flu and COVID vaccinations, I am stiff and sore all over, and I think I have a low grade fever. I'll take some Tylenol and rest up.
Iris

Sorry you're not feeling well, Iris, rake care. My arm was a little sore for three days. Darwin Said his muscles were sore the day after he got his flu shot.
I bought a big bag of carrots quite a while back and put them in two LockNLock containers. Used one but now guess I will get rid of the rest. No idea what the brand was.
Still raining here. Fell asleep in my chair s o must need a nap..
