Beth and Iris - the earthquake bar is quite challenging, but like most anything else, once you've done it a few times it gets easier. The key is to start with a light weights and go from there, and you don't have to go super heavy to get results. When doing the earthquake bar, I don't lift heavier than 60-70 pounds. A motivator for me is that the results are visible - I have muscles in my arms that I never knew I had! Whenever I make a comment like that, my trainer just chuckles.

Zetta - I hope you don't get all of that Oregon snow in Boise!!!

I'm of the mind that snow belongs on postcards and Christmas cards, not in my front and/or back yard, or on any road I have to drive on.

Ron - Your son is the best.

Lorita - I really liked that paleontologist's short video. I poked around to see if I could find anything else by him, but I didn't find anything on a short search.

Apparently this is the week for dinosaur news. I saw this article about an Edmontosaurus (a kind of duck-billed dinosaur), where paleontologists found that it had hooves!!!! I didn't see that coming. Here's the short article with a photo of the fossilized hoof (yep, that's a hoof), and an artist's impression of the dinosaur.

HB - I hope all continues to go well with the painters. Fancy Italian sounds good!

I've only had ice cream cake once. I think it came from Baskin Robbins.

You know, I've never been to a Red Lobster.

Sometimes the only thing you want is an Oreo. I always liked pulling them apart, eating the chocolate part first, and then squishing two of the creme parts together. My own version of the "double stuff" Oreos.

Bologna? My mom was big on that when we were kids. I didn't care for it, but I'd just smother my sandwich with mustard and it was just fine. My sister's go to was PB&J so she never dealt with bologna.

We have a little bit of sun right now, but it's been raining pretty steadily all day - our power even went out for a few minutes. I'm trying to get stuff done — just in case it goes out again.

Judith and HB - I need that scrubber too! It seems pretty handy.

And one more quick thing — my s.o. shared this article with me about some thefts of Halloween decorations. I loved the photo!! If you want to read the article, it's short, and it's here. El Cerrito is just a bit past Berkeley. Here's the photo:

    skeleton-you don't say.jpg

I love the skeleton who has his hand on his (her?) hip and looking up as if to say "Oh really? You don't say!" Also, they all look like they're the ones in the police line up. Maybe they're all getting ready to be processed. 😄

Good for you. Iris. Bet sleeping all night makes you feel better. Hope it continues.

It has rained off and on today. Three inches so far with more rain west.of us. I thought it would be a quiet day so put on a bright pink, fleece lounge set on over most.of my clothes. Just before noon the alarm went off.. Gate was closed but Darwin walked up to the house with tomatoes. I hadn't even brushed my hair,- had it up in a pony tail. Then I thought that was all for today. I'm was watching OU play football and fell asleep. Alarm awakened me. Thisb time it wss Ryan with FedEx bringing my sheet set. Visited a little with him, still in that pink suit with unbrushed hair. I saw as many people today as I saw last week. Took down the trash during a shower. I did brush my hair . Also made some potato soup. That was my day which did include treating Stormy's foot.

Ordered a Duraflame heater after I talked with the electrician. GG, they're learning more about the dinosaurs all the time. Love Oreos.

About time to watch the Thunder so will say good night.

Good morning. It's still dark here; another week of darkness in the mornings before we lose the early evening light. Boo.

The scrubber is from Costco. There's a larger version as well but my warehouse didn't have that one. It was an impulse item, as so many things in my cart tend to be and under $20.

Judith— When I painted my primary, I did a pastel aqua (matched my bathrobe) for the main part of the room and the slightly higher intensity from the same family in the dressing area and bath. I thought it was very clever, but DH never noticed. He assumed it looked darker as it was on the NW facing side of the house with a single smaller window. I must really like this color, btw, when I painted the dining room, I matched my auntie's MCM China pattern— Castle "Turquoise" and it turned out to be the exact color as the bedroom.

I'm much happier with the new color outside and very excited for the front door to be painted. DS is grumbling about it all. He is change averse sometimes. He liked the colonial blue but was pushing for black shutters and red door. I told him Mom might think it's Talbots, so nope, not happening.

Gothic G— That picture is hysterical with the skeletons lined up like rowdy revelers cooling off in the town's drunk tank. Theft is a thing. The skulls of the 12" Skelly are "highly collectible"; my friend put an Air Tag in hers. Also, citizen's arrest? Wow. I wish there was footage of that.

Ron— Your family sure keeps you busy. LOL, there's a casino about 25 minutes away and I've only ever been there to drop mom and dad's cousin off for the afternoon. They do get some pretty interesting performers come through, but I never think to do that as a date night. Do your casinos have name entertainment?

Lorita— Your pink lounge suit sounds cozy and more appropriate than my traipsing about in my bathrobe. I got caught yesterday by the painter looking like a crazy woman.

I hope all have a safe and pleasant day.

Morning, Darwin just called as he always does around 7:30. He said he thinks he may have had a stroke. He sounds fine but says he feels wobbly. He says that often. He can move his extremities okay. What is the test you can do to see if someone has had a stroke? I used to know but have forgotten. He is having some kind if ocular procedure tomorrow. He plans on going to town today for groceries. I told him I.would go with.him.or order his groceries. I know there are three or four things to check but don't remember them.

    Hi all,

Lorita, the test for stroke is FAST:

    Face: is it symmetrical

Arms: can they lift both equally

Speech: can they say complete sentences

Time: Act Fast—many strokes can be mitigated by clot busters if they're caught in time.

Hearing aids: if you can afford to, you should wear them all the time you're awake. It's not just about hearing when you talk to yourself but your brain stays busy filtering out noise and deciding what is or is not important.

Tang: if anyone buys some, let me know if it was sweetened with sugar or something else. I got some at Costco several years back and it had sugar but also artificial sweetener.

Red Lobster is my dad's favorite. My dad is 90 and lives alone. I go see him and we go out to eat once a week—probably to Red Lobster once or twice a month. Last year I took him on a cruise to Hawaii. He didn't like it much, but we've been trying to find dining locally that's as good as the cruise. So far no dice.

Thanks, Sandwich. I haven't seen him but talked to him a couple of timed. He said he feels ok, has been outside and he can repeat a sentence I told him. He has given his wife her medicine and breakfast and took his. I told him to go.back to bed and rest. He says he needs to go to town but maybe I can talk him out if it. I wanted to order for him but I know he enjoys going. Said he would call me if he goes. He is a wee bit stubborn.

Very foggy snd damp here, also cool.I saw a bovine laying down in the lot an hour or so ago. Kept watching and thought it might be Billy. Called him and told him to come to the gate and I would feed him. He got up, came to the gate, let him in and he's eating now. Maybe this will continue this winter. When I called him when he was laying down, he perked up and raised his head and raised his ears. He knows his name and knows my voice.

    Stroke…

rapid intervention is critical. For an ischemic stroke, the "golden period" for tPA medication is within 3 to 4.5 hours of symptom onset, while mechanical thrombectomy can be performed up to 16 to 24 hours for select patients. Beyond initial treatment, the most significant recovery period is in the first three months, but improvement can continue for up to two years.

HB…..thanks. Ordered and will be delivered this afternoon. Isn't that amazing! Tried to lookup the MCM china but it only showed flatware. Help…

Lorita…I saw the Duraflame on QVC this morning and thought of you. Guess you saw it too.

Iris…so good you are getting some rest.

Snow…love it especially the large flakes. Also love the colors of winter.

Thanks, Judith, he seems okay now. He thinks he ate something that wasn't good yesterday that upset his stomach making him have nightmares. After elimination he feels great and sounds like it. His speech was as usual this morning. I mentioned I had never been to Starbucks but I do buy their frappaccino. A few Years ago I figured out how to make it which tasted the. same. Think I will do that again. It's $8. For four small bottles.

Kind of figuring out where some of my winter clothes are. I don't Deliverybtrucchange out the closets, just the drawers but still a job.

That is where I saw the Duraflame yesterday. I ordered one a few years ago but the door didn't work so sent it back. This one seems to be improved. Now to figure out where to put it.

Billy is still up, doesn't seem to want to to back into the pastures.

I hate what was done to the White House. Just now saw they've raised the cost of the ballroom to $350 million. Just think how many Hungry people that would feed. I was pleased to learn that the town I go to has a food bank. Delivery truck from Food Bank of Eastern Okla. Was making a delivery when I made my clothing donation, so donated. I will increase my monthly donation.

Lorita, I'm glad Darwin is okay. Some people can have a TIA (transient ischemic attack) which can be a precursor to an actual stroke. The fact that he feels better after eliminating may not be important. He should be evaluated for risk factors of a stroke. I realize that he is resistant to medical intervention. But he should be aware of what could be going on with him.

This has been my third night of sleeping all night. I've been walking at least 30 minutes every day this past week, I'm sure this is the reason why I'm sleeping better.

Iris, glad you're continuing to sleep through the night. I need to start walking more - in the summer it's too hot and in the winter it's too cold. No excise for autumn or spring.

Charles had at least one TIA. He tried to.pick up a glass and couldn't. Scared me but he fully recovered. Mother also had at least one, again full recovery.

I worry that Darwin won't mention this to his daughters. He has that eye appointment tomorrow. I think it's for a victrectomy- nearest I can get to what he will have. He has some bleeding in his eye. His SIL had the procedure and said it wasn't bad. I will try to convince him to tell the daughter who will be here tomorrow to take him to the appt.

Guess I need to make appt. to get Stormy to the vet. He has decided he won't allow me put medicine on his foot. Sheena seems to be able to get up some better so that's good.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm still here. No real reason. Guess I'm feeling like this because of all the problems these last three months, and, because today is daddy's 118th birthday. He has been gone 30 years and I miss him every day. Seems like all I do is try to deal with problems. Oh well,my day will come.

Lorita, I know the feeling about wondering why I’m still here. Today is 1 year and 5 months since I lost Lou and seems like especially every month on the 26th is hard. With all my health problems it’s a wonder I haven’t already joined her. I hear all the time that it’s hard to believe by looking at me that I haven’t already joined any illness at all. I just wish my body felt the way people think I look.

I’m going to attach a picture of my camper and soundings. Where the camper is, is where I want the cabin,

Ron, you have found a pretty place to live. You are right about one thing: I was surprised to see how healthy you look when we first met in person. You look a lot better than I feel!

I don't know why any of us are here, but I would miss you and Lorita if you left, so I would be grateful if the two of you could stay around to keep me company.

SW Missouri is not always so pretty as in the picture above. It's cloudy and drizzling this evening, so I have put out the trash and am catching up on my laundry.

Speaking of weather, I think if I lived in a camper I would buy a second propane tank to stash in my son's garage for when I needed fuel and the roads were bad.

    My laundry needs attention. TTYL

Thank you, Carl. I.have eggs to.lay and fish to fry.before I can go.

Second propane tank sounds good, or the propane company could rent a bigger one to you, Ron.. You have selected s pretty place for your cabin. Are you going to.buy one and have it moved or have one built? Guess we better stick around a while. Today was hard for both of us, sorry.

That darn rat is still in the car. He tried to make another nest but no room service now. Judith. I have some light bulbs that can light without electticity, battery, I.guess. i think I will leave that flap over the spare up and put the light in. Maybe I can figure how to keep it open though for it.to.get out.

Guess I'll get a vet appt. For Stormy and take him in for Mike to treat his foot.. He and I went around and around this afternoon because he would not let me put medicine on it. First time that has happened so guess it really.hurts.

Better.get.out there and put the light bulb in before it gets darker- already dark. Going to do that and go to bed. Good night

I put two.light bulbs in the car and propped the hatchback open about 2-3". Ron or Carl or anyone, will leaving the hatchback.open all night drain the battery?. There is no.other light on in the car except the light bulbs. I have left it open several hours before with no.problem. It's parked away from the nearest outlet so would be hard to jump.it. Guess I could.move it.

If there's no light on in the trunk that is powered by the car battery, leaving the hatchback open won't drain the battery.

Ron your camper/future cabin location is beautiful! The air is so clear. You people who live in fresh air should really appreciate not living in smog.

Lorita, on Oct 24th my grandmother would have been 135 years of age. My mother will have been 104 years of age next Friday, Oct 31st. I have my brother and a few cousins in my age group. I found out that one cousin now has Alzheimer's Disease. I try to keep in touch with my cousins. But it's hard.

I had a nice day,I didn't walk because it's Sunday. Tomorrow I will resume walking. Good night.

HB, is this the pattern? I googled MCM Castle Turquoise. It's very pretty whatever it is.

My dear Aunt is home from hospital. DIL and 3 of us nieces are taking shifts to spend the days and nights so far. My next youngest cousin (63) and I are cooking dinner every day. No other plan has emerged as of yet. She has follow up with PCP and Neurologist this week. DIL is very tired as you might imagine after staying at the hospital continuously for 4 days.

Jake the GP/Anatolian had his 3rd birthday a month or so ago. He has now escaped the pasture 4 times in 2 weeks. I believe him to be "looking for love in all the wrong places", as the song goes. An electric fence and a Vet appointment for surgery are in his near future.

The rain has made it over to us. Harvest season is underway. I had to pull entirely off the road yesterday for a combine to pass.

Ron, when we had a 5th wheel, DH always ran the generator for me to take a shower. I don't know if that would help with your hot water issue or not but maybe worth a try? I know all camper set ups are different. You certainly have a beautiful view!

Eagle, hope things calm down soon and DH feels better.

Lorita, hope Darwin does well with his eye procedure today.

I hear to oven timer - brownies are ready… have a good day everyone and be safe.

    Good morning,

My son made us some shrimp creole last night and it was delicious. He’s won cook off contest with it as well as his chili. Great cook!

I’m going to try and make it to the center today. This weather has my old bones aching and moving slower than usual. Wednesday I’m picking up my granddaughter in Springfield to eat out, then go buy me some Missouri winter clothes. Back in Louisiana I might wear a short sleeve shirt and shorts one day and two days later long sleeve with big boy pants. Big difference is what I hear around here so I’ll be prepared.

    Good morning.

Finally cooler fall weather has arrived. It feels wonderful outside. The forecast is for cooler weather, I won't complain about that one bit.

I attended a bridal shower yesterday for a friends daughter. It was quite lovely. I've known her her entire life, which blows my mind. She and her soon-to-be husband seem quite in love and very happy. I'm thrilled for the both of them. Just as a side note, I was so impressed by her friends that attended. All young professional women, just starting careers and full of energy & enthusiasm. And more importantly, everyone was dressed up for the occasion. All had on dresses or professional pants outfits. It was nice to see that.

I've got several errands that I've got to accomplish today. The one's I've kept putting off, ugh. I hope everyone has a fantastic day. Let's be careful out there.

Morning, foggy and cool.here this morning. Still lying in nab rd watching tv. No pressing reason to get up. Had thought I would take Stormy to the vets - will decide later. Supposed to rain tomorrow.

Darwin called and sounds good.I tried to.impress upon him.that he should tell his daughter, who is taking him to his appointment, how he felt yesterday.

I hope my car is rodent free today. Lived here my whole life and never had this ptoblem before and I do not like it.

Wondering if Mr. Billy is going to show up this morning for feed.

    Enjoy your day, back later.

Ron, I plan to go to the senior center today too. Chair Chi isn't until 1:30, but I think I'll go about 10:30 to visit, eat lunch, etc. We have pretty changeable weather here and I like to dress in layers. Long sleeved T-shirt, long sleeved shirt, sweater or sweatshirt, and light jacket is warmer than a heavy coat and you can take some of it off if the day becomes warmer. I even have some long underwear (and a warm coat) for really cold weather.

Guess I need a Google lesson Still could not find the china so thanks for the pic. The color is beautiful.

I got pulled over for speeding on my way to class Saturday. I was going almost 30 in a 25 zone. The nice part was the policeman thought I was only 75. Made my day.
