They, OG&E sneak in and do their dirt. They were trimming these trees once and I went down and stopped them. They called their Supervisor and he came out. They stopped. Their electric line runs along the north side of the fsrm. We have East Central which is the other side of the road but they ran a line to our house years ago. East Central sends out a letter saying they're going to trim i and you can stop that. I can't see that North road now because of trees between here and there. One time they sneaked men in with sprayers on their back to spray trees( this was along the east side of the farm). Before I could get over there, they took off. Makes me really mad. Almost all of the trees were Bradford pears, along the north and west side of the meadow- so pretty in the spring when they bloomed.

Todd just called. Says Sarah hasn't eaten or talked for two days. Keeps her eyes closed. Hardly any urinary output and it is dark. She can hear him - can tell by her facial expression. Hospice has been coming daily and they say she is shutting down. He sounds so depressed, of course. We know how he is feeling. I told him if she is sleeping she is out of psin. I remember Scarlett told me the only time she wss out of pain was when she slept. She had MS and passed away in her sleep. She was young, too.

Glad your smoothie was still good,David. How long will it take to get the new one?
I went down to get the calf back with the heifers and can't find him. Called Toad and told him. He said he probably found a low place and crawled under the fence. Something is wrong with the Gator. Very hard to turn and speed doesn't register. Told him and he said they would check. He's still in that huge truck sprayimg. I had on socks and my leg just above was hurting like the dickens. Guess a wrap got me. It's red and swollen some with one sting mark. Put on Benadryl ointment, then put a wet aspirin on it. The other night I saw them spraying the gates. The wasps build nests in the ends of the pipes. I got stung last year closing a gate.
Talked again with Todd. He is taking such good care of Sarah. She is so lucky to have him. He said hospice is coming every day

    Good morning everyone

HB by your description it is a pie. It was not made in a pie pan though. My grandma made it in a long, narrow shallow pan. When I asked my mom about it and it was before my mom got like she is now, all she could tell me is that it is like a pie crust, but it’s richer. I don’t know if that meant it had more butter in it than a regular piecrust. I took her a piece of the peach cobbler the other day and she told me it was a good peach cake, I kind of agree with her. I’ve started calling it peach cake at home. Maybe this winter in my spare time😂I might try to make one. That’s some thing I’m hoping to learn is to make a homemade pie crust. But everything you make from scratch requires more time. My days have been running out of time here lately.

Lorita I find flatbread very easy, but I’ve been making it for quite awhile

    Good morning.
The storm we were meant to have overnight was a bust. I think we got 0.2". Rain is out of the forecast for today and tomorrow's all-day soaking rain has been downgraded to a 30% chance. It is so crispy. My daylilies look dead. I'm not sure if they will be back next year or not— I don't know who will be more disappointed. Me? Or the local deer population?

David— what sort of blender are you getting? If you make smoothies using frozen ingredients, you'll need a fairly robust machine. My niece burned through a couple of Ninjas before treating herself to a massive Vitamix. She scoffs at my Oster which is pretty lame by comparison. Hers make soup. TBH, I use my immersion blender way more often.

Speaking of which, my new microwave continues to impress. It does come with a great set of instructions beyond obvious safety warnings, but I discovered that it has a beverage sensor button that reheats tea to a perfect drinking temperature without entering a time. It's like magic.

Mint— I wonder if your grandmother's "richer" dough is more like a cookie recipe? I have a friend who makes a fruit dessert with a vanilla sugar cookie top. She tweaks it to be a snickerdoodle on apples or almond cookie on cherry. Sometimes she makes them as pinwheel cookies if she feels like showing off.

The sheep doesn't seem to be enjoying this morning's Goat Yoga class.

i had not gotten several posts. Felt i had missed some by comments being made. They finally showed up.

Lorita thinking of you and your family. My aunt told me yesterday my uncle is losing ground. I forget how she worded it, but I took it he’s becoming more at peace with that. I think she’s feeling a little better too.

jerilynn the goats are so cute. They are always up to something. I knew a young couple. They kept their house real. Neat. They bought a little goat. One day I went by their house and there was that goat up on top of the car. I chuckled and I thought that will be gone. It sure enough was.

Morning, very foggy here this morning, and quiet. Seems like it always is when it's foggy. Will have to wait until afternoon to spray.

Mint, , did your mothers cobblers have a bottom and top crust? Now they have cobblers with only a little crust or dough on top. Not a cobbler to me.

Going to warm up todsy. We had a good break so that was helpful but back to hot weather soon.

That sting hurt for a long time, still hurting five hours later when I went to bed. Itchy this morning.

JeriLynn, those baby goats are previous. I would like to have a coup!e just to watch. I have seen people doing yoga with baby goats standing on them.

Thanks for the prayers, HB. Todd has really been good with Sarah. I hear him talking to her and helping here when we talk. Time for juice and hot tea. Darwin just called. Said both Donna and he had a good night.

Lorita are you sure it’s not a yellow jacket sting. That’s exactly how they were when I got them last year. They hurt for a long time and then they started itching.

I don’t remember the crust being like a cookie dough. I think it was more like pie dough was very thin. Sometimes they put a crust on the bottom, and sometimes they didn’t but there was always one on the top.

The rain has kind of been missing us also here. Kind of seems to go on either side of us. They’re giving a chance of rain for several days now so we’ll see.

Use my immersion blender frequently for a lot of different things. It’s so easy to clean up.

Funny you mentioned yellow jackets, Mint. When I was in school our basketball teams were called the yellow jackets. It could have been a yellow jacket didn't see anything but I do see quite a few red wasps. They will make nests on the porch and I have to spray them. It is really itching this morning. Need to put some anti itch cream on it.

I really like my immersion blender, too. MIne is really old and I have lost all the extra blades but if still works.

    What cute goats!

I have had a Hamilton Beach personal blender that just does smoothies for several years. It handles frozen fruit fine.

I tried a small litter box for Simon at night but that didn't work because it is too small for him. So I'm back to using the pee pads. I found some wxtra large ones they seem to be working.

I have a Ninja blender. I like it. It's pretty powerful. I use frozen fruit, yogurt and water or milk in my smoothies - sometimes add spinach. I need to get brave and make a green smoothie sometime. I got my Ninja from my neighbor's garage sale. I also have a Hamilton Beach blender that we received as a wedding gift (nearly 48 years ago!) It's small and not powerful. It is good for making strawberry margaritas though (1 can Cayman Jack margarita, add strawberries, freeze then blend. Serve in a chilled glass with salt on the rim. Makes 2)

Ron, I hope you are enjoying family time. Relax, cry when you need to, let go/let your hair down. You've been through a lot. This is time to take care of you. Massage therapy is a great stress reliever.

Lorita, you, Sarah and Todd are on my mind and in my prayers.

Mint, I have made peach cobbler several times (no bottom crust). I also have a recipe for a fresh peach pie. You make and bake the bottom crust, then slice fresh peaches into it, pour over a heated mixture of cornstarch, water, sugar etc. Tasty! I have a similar recipe for a fresh strawberry pie.

This week in the garden: I am working on thinning out various plants. It's like a jungle out there. lol I removed a lot of rudbeckia (black eyed Susans) and also ferns. Those are plants that multiply like crazy. Next, I need to thin the phlox. Not sure I showed you my phlox and rudbeckia - will add a pic or 2. Mosquitos have been bad this year which diminishes my pleasure in being outside. The city sprayed last evening so maybe it'll be a little better now.

    Enjoy your day!

We've had a Ninja for years. Have made ice cream in it and it was delicious. I used frozen mangos and pineapple, 2 cups and I think 1/4 to 1/2 cups of milk, maybe a little sugar I have the frozen fruit to make more and should.

Beth, those flowers are beautiful. Years ago Charles and I found and dug up a lot of phloxand Shasta daisies along a highway in Arkansas. They were beautiful for a long time but finally went away. Seems like we can't have flowers or shrubs lately because the grasshoppers eat everything except crabgrass.

If any of you are on Facebook I wonder if you would look up Steve Harrison in Bixby, Okla. He is a chainsaw artist making figures from tree trunks. I need to get in touch with him and can't find his number and can't seem to get through to the tv station where I saw the story.

Thank you so very much. Beth. I will call him tomorrow. I'm going to have the huge elm taken out because it has died and if if was blown down it would crush the West end of the house. I know the tree is at least 75 years old. When it was small it began to split and daddy put a chain around it to keep it together. As it grew the chain has broken but has grown into the tree. If I can get him to do the work I can still have part of the tree after the top is taken out. I hate to lose trees and I have at least four that have died and need to be removed. Again, thank you so much.

    good morning everyone

Phlox are beautiful. I’ve had some in the past, but not for a long time.
I think you gave us your pie recipe once and I copied it down. If I get time, I’m gonna try and look and see if I can find it. Maybe I’ll make a peach pie this week instead of a cobbler we’ll see.

Today is mom‘s house cleaning day. I hope it goes easy.

    Take care everyone

    Mint, here's the recipes:

    Fresh (unbaked) Peach Pie

    Baked pie shell

    1 c. sugar

    1 c. water

    3 1/2 TBSP cornstarch

    1/8 tsp salt

    1 TBSP butter

    4 c. peaches

Combine sugar, water, cornstarch, salt, & butter. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. While still hot, stir in peaches. Pour into shell. Chill & serve.

The peach cobbler recipe I use (uses 2 cans peach pie filling)
