Did your new microwave show up HB? That is great about your mother’s eyesight.

Jerilynn very little rain in our world too. I really enjoy Sam and also when it’s fixed well I bought some while back which I’m hoping to make salmon patties out of it. I’ve done that before and they’re very good and they have so much less sodium than the canned.

Hope everyone has a nice day, think it’s supposed to be starting to cool down here maybe tomorrow and I think pretty much goes for all of us even you eagle they say

Jerilynn— Bummer about having a rooster. I understand they can be rather disruptive. A friend of mine accidently ended up with one for a time until she had to rehome her flock to move in with her mom. Her girls' names were also very amusing. Her daughter named them after the folks in Ru Paul's Drag Race which sort of suited their big personalities.

I hope the doctor is able to come up with a pain solution for your DH. And also, if that plan includes rest that he'll be compliant. He sounds like someone who needs to be busy. I have a friend like that who is recovering from a partial colectomy; she is recovering beautifully but is struggling with fatigue as she hasn't bounced back to her pre-surgery level of energy.

Mint— The microwave arrived by noon and was quickly installed. It has a lot more bells & whistles than I expected and is going to take some getting used to. It has a dial rather than a numeric control pad which will take some getting used. DH and DS are completely confused by it. The thing has an air fryer, a combined microwave/convection roast setting and self-cleaning function. I'm not sure I've ever seen a recipe for preparing meat using heat and microwave simultaneously; I'll have to poke around the internet. I'm not sure I need the ability to ruin a $30 roast in under an hour. That said, I did put a small bone-in pork roast in my air fryer and got roasted perfection in 40 minutes.

Off to the eye doctor and then to pull the trigger on my bathroom tile project.

Just found a old Polaroid from the early 70s. I remember when the boys were young, we were always taking instant pictures.

Still having major emotional issues when I'm around others. Plan on visiting brother in Plano Texas and son in Dallas next week with hopes being with family will help. Even though the trip is only around 2 1/2 hours, my son is coming after me this weekend and bringing me home the next.

Saw the VA Chaplain and my Primary care Dr Monday and both understand what I'm going through and seemed concerned. Also, Primary care is concerned about A1c going up and wants to see me again in 4 months. After coming home I received a call from scheduling asking me to come in 1 hour prior to appointment time for lab. When I looked in myhealth.vet it showed Primary care appointment for 10 and "test" for 9. I have never seen or heard of "test" being used for lab appointment and usually just have to be there 15 minutes prior to appointment and lab is never a scheduled appointment.

Hot again today but rain is in Forcast so hopefully will cool off some. Reminds me of my Vietnam days when all the northerners were complaining of the heat and I didn't see much difference.

So nice to hear from you Ron. We all miss you, think of you often and pray for you to find peace. It's been 50 years since I lost my daddy - I was 13. I still grieve and shed tears; just learned to accept it and always keep him close to me in my heart. It's OK to get emotional.

A road trip with your son to visit family sounds like just what you need. Hopefully change of scenery and being with your loved ones will lift your spirits. xo

Forgot ti mention, my brother keeps talking about taking me to Winstar Casino in Oklahoma! That must be some type of major Oklahoma attraction, brother says it's the biggest Casino in the world. Guess that is planned for the trip!

I am in Okla and have never hear of anyone talk of going to that casino…maybe I just don't know anyone who gambles…lol

Same with me, Judith. Never heard of that one. I know they have pretty names for their casinos. Looked it up and it's in ?Thackerville , 146 miles from here. Must be in the southern part in o Okla.

Darwin just brought me some good things; peaches, peppers, tomatoes,a cantaloupe and a watermelon. He's really nice, when he has extras or his daughters bring things he shares with his neighbors. I just peeled and seeded the last tomatoes this afternoon. These need to ripen some.

I think Mike may move the big calves this evening. His nephew came and got everyone up in the corral. I will be glad of that.

I just checked and Thackerville is in Love County, far south central Okla., only 72 miles from Dallas.

Had a nice day yesterday. Went to Costco and then ate at Olive Garden. I had a gift card for Olive Garden so that was a free meal. Later in the day we went to Salvation Army with a bag of donations.

Gardening is on the agenda today. It's a nice, cool day.

About your "test".

IME with any of the Epic "MyChart" versions, "Tests" is the term used as a heading for any kind of lab work (blood, urine, biopsies) as well as imagining, EKGs and even things like in-office hearing tests and screenings for color-blindness. Mom's on 3 different hospital systems that use some version of MyChart and they all do this. At the lab mom uses that is onsite with her PCP, cardiologist and radiology, the staff often schedules her in the lab as an appointment rather than a walk-in to prioritize the processing of the order. The doc probably wants the results in time for your appointment so they can be discussed.

Some of those old Polaroids are highly collectible these days. Mom gave me dad's a few months ago. He got his around 1965 and I remember it being very expensive at the time. I just looked it up; his would have been $165. The film wasn't cheap either. I made do with a little Kodak Instamatic.

Lorita— It sounds like Darwin is like your own personal CSA. That produce haul sounds amazing.

David— Congratulations on your continued BINGO winning streak. When you're hot, you're hot.

Judith— Have you been to the Edith Head exhibit currently at OKCMOA? It looks amazing.

My driveway project started yesterday. AG dug out a few sections where the current driveway was sunken. The asphalt wasn't installed to appropriate standards. It's about 2" thick in some spots. No wonder it feel apart.

No surprise there. So many of the subs who worked in the construction of the neighborhood were just awful. My house isn't as bad as some as it was built by a better builder than most of my neighbors, but the grading and drives were installed by their main builder's team.

At least it's cooler today. I was 96F and steamy yesterday- not a good day to be digging up a driveway. I'll be in mom's neighborhood to order tile; maybe I'll drop her at the pool for a couple hours. She's been cooped up all week.

Sad evening. They took two loads of cattle, one for the big calves and the other for some cows. They took Gray Lady! I had her in the West paddock- should have let her out with the heifers.. Guess he took the cows to other pastures+ - I hope. He did leave Billy the Bull (I still own him)) I do still have the Pyrenees and cats so some reason to get up in the morning. He must have taken someone's small calf because I hear one or two cows bawling and hunting for her baby. I do not like this! Hope everyone is well this morning Cool morning here, the weatherman says. I haven't been outside.

Trying hard to stay upbeat, bu always something to set me back. It could be music, talking to others, TV or just reading, always some little item reminds me of Lou. Perfect example was this morning checking my Facebook page a article was talking about someone in a nursing home talking to a empty chair. When asked who she was talking to her reply was; on its just Charlie he's waiting fir me where we can go together. About a hour later the woman died, I started crying like a baby. Is Lou waiting for me? Is that why I keep seeing images of her! I'm crying now!!

Lorita…my grandson's "ranch" took care of young cattle. They were brought it. I think they were taken to market when they were the right size. He was never attached to any of them since they were just passing through and there were hundreds of them.

I know you will miss GL. Hard to let go.

Thank you. HB and Judith. I shouldn't get so attached but can't help it. I saved her and her calf from all the little bulls and then fed and cared for her for five months. No way to not get attached.

JeriLynn, he wouldn't, barely had time to take all of them last night. He had been wanting to do that for weeks. Last evening I asked him what he was doing and he said she was going with him. I asked if had to and he said yes. He's a rancher so they are just cows to him. He told me weeks ago that be could take her and put her in a pasture with other older cows so they could feed them better.. At least I can hope she's with the rest of her family in a good pasture - at least hope. His trailers are those huge cattle trailers so coming back is not an option.

A few years ago Darwin had an older cow down way up in a pasture and he took feed and water to her for weeks, then grieved about her when she wss gone. My.mother did the same thing. Freckles tried to calve down in the pasture. She lost her calf and then couldn't get up for days. Mother took feed to her every day and carried water to her from a nearby pond. She did get up eventually and lived a long time. It's just what we do when we don't have big herds and have the time to interact with them.

We have unhappy cows here today. Some have babies gone and they're bawling and looking for them. Charles and I and my parents never sold cows, just yearlings. Our cows were born here, lived here and then died here. Best way, I think. A friend once told me he had a really old cow and his wife told him he should sell her. He told her she was at home and was going to live the rest of her life on his farm. Difference in small and big ranchers. Thank you all for caring.

Ron, Judith is right. Even after almost ten years it still happens to me when I think of something or see a happy couple . Guess it always will. It is okay to cry and grieve.We have to in order to survive.

Probably were yearlings. Don't know where he took them. He has pastures every where. Hope it wasn't OKC. Haven't been up to count them but imagine not over a dozen cows and several calves. He cleaned house as we used to say at the hospital when the Chief of Medicine made rounds in the absence of a ward doctor (lots of discharges).

Went out and counted. I think there are 20 or 21 cows, Billy, and eight little calves so he took over half of them. I missed seeing Penny and Penny, Jr. And Daisy and her grown daughter. All the heifers and calves are still here. The grasshoppers are awful.
