26 here this cold Spring morning with frost on the ground, but climbing to almost 60 today. I'll take it. The wind has been so cold! Babies are warm and dry inside. They are still on 3 bottles a day at 2 cups each feeding. I had to get bigger diapers!
After being up at midnight or 2 am every day this week, I happily have slept until almost 6 am!
Reading from yesterday's posts is exciting: puppies, goats, chickens, geese, deer, and Spring flowers. A GP and a Blue Heeler… Sparky is just that, His eyes do sparkle. One of our resident eagles was perched on the treetop beside the silo yesterday for the longest time. I don't know why he (or she) was there without the partner. Usually we see two together.
This has been a busy week with appointments 3 days. Things should settle down after my tax appointment Monday. We are trying to get away next week to test out the new (to us) motorhome. DH's Sister and BIL are planning to go along as well. I'm looking forward to a few days camping.

Good morning to those of you on the porch. We got quite a bit of rain overnight and now it's really windy again. Midweek was a lovely taste of spring but today just feels like March.
I'm just catching up on all the posts.
Things have been busy here. I'm about 2/3 done with mom's 6-weeks of IV abx infusions. I will be so happy to have that off my plate— it's only an hour a day out of my life but once I'm there it's hard to leave because mom comes up with some cockamamie nonsense that needs my attention. Meanwhile, DH's new cardiologist has reached out to schedule more testing and wants him to meet a surgeon to "establish a relationship".

Mint…it is v ery hard to get a correct diagnosis. It is still widely held that a diagnosis can not be made until an autopsy is done. Still an educated diagnosis is better than none and while medical care might differ the non-medical care, believed by many to be more effective than drugs, is the same. That we can to learn.
There is a lot online about the different dementias. Here is one site;

Morning, very windy and chilly here. Good to hear from everyone. Felt sorry for the girls this morning. They tend to hang around in the morning between the house and big pond, waiting for them to come and feed. They were out there this morning and all at once started back to the feeding area. I didn't hear anything but finally saw a truck with hay going that way. When I was by there yesterday they had hay but thought they might be going to feed grain to them. Then saw the truck leaving,, guess they dropped the hay for tomorrow. The girls heard the truck probably a mile away or more, or more. They still recognize the sound is of our pickup from the years is of feeding.
That's all I know except the two pairs of geese are by the pond. Ordered groceries to be delivered soon. Happy to not be bothered about taxes. Don't need to cook, just get the mail and run by Darwin's a minute to take a couple of things I ordered for him and more daffodils for Donna. The wind is drying out the pretty blooms too fast. Back later.

Saw a goat on TV news today. Firefighters were fighting a brush fire near Skyline, MO and a goat showed up to "help." He followed the firefighters around and generally encouraged them. Maybe it was his brush they were saving. We have had over 200 wildfires in Missouri in the past couple of weeks, and will probably get more today because the wind is expected to gust to 40 mph. We are asked not to burn but you know how that is. Keeps those firefighting men and goats hopping.
My barber told me he hit a deer driving home at sunset a week ago. He talked to her and petted her until she died and told me it was pretty weird getting that close to a wild animal, but she was so shocked he wasn't even sure she knew he was there. From the look of his car, she was squarely in front of him when he hit her. No grill, crumpled hood, etc. Deer and turkeys were rare animals in Missouri when I was a boy, but we see them all the time now. The conservation department has even restored elk to a large State-owned area in the extreme southern part of the State.
JeriLynn, you are pretty far south to get 26 degrees this late in the year! We were in the 30s this morning and I thought that was chilly.

Good morning Rockers 😄
Lorita. Thanks for asking about Molly, she's happy she just went with me to the dentist. She loves to go in the car with me, in Oregon she went everywhere with me, here in Arizona, she can only go in the mornings as long as it's cool.
JeriLynn. I bet it felt good, sleeping in till 6am. It will be fun, testing out your motor home. Will your babies be off their bottles by then. Their really going to miss you.
I just got home from the dentist. I got my new upper teeth. I won't get the lowers for 30 days, my gums are still healing from the implants. I was not looking forward to having to deal with the teeth, but to my surprise, they are a perfect fit perfectlay sauction no adhesive needed. I have them in right now, getting used to them.
Good day to all of you. Hugs Zetta

I always chuckle when reading Lorita's weather report. We live about 1.2 hours apart. She reports it is chilly at her house. My temp feels near perfect so I checked…it is 65 here. Guess I will always be a northerner…lol
Carl…trying to think which museum that would be. The museums were all free for years. What a deal. I sailed on the lake…even raced some. Loved it. I would move back in a flash but probably to Evanston, not downtown.

It's all what you're used to. I heard about an Illinois farmer who died and went to Hell. The devil was gloating over him, but he just said "No problem, I've been hotter in corn fields." Satan turned up the heat, and the farmer was fanning himself with his hat, but said "No problem, I've been hotter in silos." Then Satan turned the temp way down, and it was snowing. He expected to see the farmer shivering, but the farmer was cheering "The Cubs won the pennant!"

Judith, I don't remember the name of the museum. It's been 45 years and I remember the gold helmet, but I don't remember just where it was. IIRC I was just walking down the street, saw the sign, and thought that would be interesting. I know it wasn't the Field Museum, because I have kicked myself ever since for not making a point of visiting it. I was there on a business trip and clearly didn't plan it very well.

Carl…there is always a lot to do…planning might not have helped. At least. you saw how beautiful the city is. Yes, the winter breeze can be "refreshing" lol.

Hey there Mint - yeah, sugarcoating doesn't help, but I'm still sorry it's all so harsh.
Early onset is generally anything before age 65. My sister was 58 when she was diagnosed. It sounds like your mom might have been on the cusp of early onset as well.
Carl - that's a great story about the goat!
I'm loving hearing about everyone's flowers and animals. We have some camellias in the back yard, and they're just starting to bloom. The pink ones are bursting, but the red ones look like they still have another couple of weeks before they bloom. My hardy hellebores are also blooming. Those plants are tough guys!

Your flowers sound beautiful,GG.
Time for bed here.. Good night.

Good morning. Judith, chilly here,40 degrees but sunny and calm. Got something in my eye during the.night so lost sleep. Finally went to sleep just before the alarm went off. Corner of my eye is kind of sore but vision is ok. Do any of you all watch MSNBC? Scary stuff going on.

Good morning all.
It looks to be a beautiful sunny hot day here today, and of course windy. I'm determined that today's goal is to again, clean the patio of blown in leaves. That might not sound like much but its a job for sure. There is so much I'd love to do outside, but my knees just won't allow it. I usually do container plants and its too early for those, IMO. I don't trust our weather!
I hope everyone can have a wonderful day. Let's be safe.

I agree Eagle. Springtime in our area is unpredictable. I saw ferns and other plants at WM but knew the wind would beat them to death. I would like to have a Couple of geraniums but not sure how I can keep Rusty away from them except by hanging them.
Still thinking about flower beds in front of the porch where the holly was.. Probably annuals, zinnias, marigolds and cosmos and one or two others. They do well in our hot, humid summers. But, perennials or small shrubs might be better- no replanting every year. It gets morning sun until about noon. Any suggestions for small shrubs? No holly.

Lorita….how about Hostas. My favorite is sum and substance…love the bright green color. I would not do annuals unless it is a small space or you think your body is going to get younger.
They mowed my yard yesterday and put down pre emergent. Then they blew the leaves out of my front bed and broke off all the tulips. For the final act they filled my trash bin with the leaves and put the bin on the curb so it had to be carried back to the house for Tuesday pick up.
I put my giant plastic Boston ferns back on the front porch. This is their third year and noone has commented that they are not real.
I watch MSNBC, CNN, FOX and the market report every morning.
It is a beautiful day…the pear trees are still wonderful…the quince hedge row is bright salmon…the redbuds have joined the chorus and. the crabapples should pop tomorrow or Monday. Ah, spring. Next come the tornados then the ungodly heat.

Hostas might work. It faces east and across part the front of the VA Hospital they have hostas and try do well. I'm not sure I would like to get younger the way things are going. I know things are getting harder to do.
Do you have someone to bring the trash cart back to the house? Why did they break off your tulips, by accident?

Good afternoon! Lorita, I never watch msnbc, they seem to catastrophize events.

David, how wonderful to see a good show! I went to an Elvis tribute show a few years ago, we were also serenaded by Chuck Berry and Aretha Franklin.
Next weekend there will be a Cherry Blossom Festival. I'll bet they'll all be beautiful!

Mint. Thank you, so far it's all good. I'm glad because I don't know how hard I would have worked on it. I've been dealing with this since October.
David. That was a very special treat. I'm happy you enjoyed it.
My daughter and I went to Costco today, that was the first time for both of us. We decided to get the membership, and look around. I was surprised how big it is and how much stuff they have. Looks like we have become Costco, shoppers. It's a 40 minute drive for us, but that's O.K. because when we go to Trader Joe's, it's close to Costco. They are in Phoenix.
Hugs Zetta

Good night, everyone. Sleep tight.

Good night, Lorita. I'm late to the party as usual.
Today is DW's birthday. I ordered a slice of chocolate cake at the diner and shared it with her to celebrate. She gets reflux if she eats a whole slice. I guess 78 is when you get only a half slice of cake on your birthday.
That Elvis tribute looks like fun. My brother and I took our wives to a tribute show in Branson MO several years ago. Somewhere around here I have a photo taken with the Blues Brothers. I fit right in, but my blond, conservatively dressed brother looked out of place and a little uncomfortable.
