Love "The Americas" tv show. On NBC, 10 part documentary series. I believe last night's episode was the 6th. If you can, go back and watch them all. Fabulous nature show that was filmed over 5 years time. Beautiful scenery and animals. Tom Hanks narrated it.

    Here.

    Sunny but cold, windy.

I must have done a better job than I remembered collecting all my late FIL's documents. It took me 30 minutes to sort, label, clip and organize. After dreading it for weeks.

Hallelujah. One task, one day at a time. I'm ready for the Tax Accountant.

Afternoon, very windy, 30-40 mph, already a fire about 25 mikes west of us. I am so tired of wind. There were four people killed in the fires last week. Supposed to be this way all this weekly except maybe Thursday.

Carl, I got rid of the upper parts of the holly but the trunks are still there and we have big trees in the yard. Glad I did that yesterday because it would have been twice as hard in the wind. Thankfully, there is green grass in the yard and almost a quarter mile south. Scares me more when we have Northern winds. But if the wind is strong embers can travel a long way. I have watched This Old House for a hundred years, way back when Bob Villa was on it. Liked it better then. Do you remember the name of the older man who showed gardening tips? He said you should always gave Dusty Miller among your flowers.

Been bust taking care of odds and ends. My phone began dropping calls so got that taken care of, ordered checks and dog food. I pay more for their food than I pay for mine but they're worth it.

Good for you JeriLynn, hope I can get mine finished this afternoon. My appt. Is Thursday.

Eagle, I think I have seen all of them but missed a little of the one about the plains last night. Where did you say I could watch all of them? Guess I better go and start those taxes. I do tend to procrastinate on doing tgem. Seems like it was only yesterday when I still had three weeks to get the stuff together and now it's three days!

Happy St.. Patrick's Day! Where is it they die the river green?

Alexa tells me the wind is 16.8 moh. Seems a lot stronger to me and mostly from the west. Also the wind is not going to decrease speed tonight. Another worry is swinging electric lines that arc or are blown down causing fires. There are two North of us, one east and one south, all about a quarter mile away.

Top of the morning to ye, sure and begorra. I don't know what all that means but it seems seasonal. I'm thinking Chicago dyes the Chicago River green, but I'm not sure. One year, on the Daily Show, they had a clip of a young woman wearing nothing but a green bikini bottom and some green paint in shamrock pattern preparing to bungee jump off a bridge in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. The host said "I can hear her mother now: 'I suppose if all your friends stripped naked, painted themselves green, and jumped off a bridge, you'd do that too, wouldn't you?'" Then they went to Boston, where a reveler was explaining about how this day is about the dignity of the Irish people, which was fine except he was slurring his words and holding a telephone pole to keep from falling down. I really liked St. Patrick's Day when I lived in Kansas City, because they had a great parade and, of course, there was drinking involved, and I was young and dumb enough to participate.

Wind is out of the south at 18 mph here too, and we have the usual red flag alerts out. I think I'll go out and clear some shrubbery.

Iris, the news just reported they caught him in New Mexico. He went west instead of east on I 40. There is a fire on Tiger Mountain just south of I 40. They have closed that highway and are trying to keep it from jumping the highway near Tiger Mountain. I think there is an arm of the lake between here and there. Here are fires in several areas.

News just Said they found the guy sitting in his car. Then he shot himself in the stomach, not fatally. The policeman shot wss a woman and he shot her in the face. She is home so is pretty well..

Weatherman said he thinks the fire jumped I 40. It is four lanes, separated in two.

Thank you, Beth. We are expecting 50-60 mph winds here, maybe an inch of snow Wednesday night, no severe storms so far as I know but anything can happen in March.

    Good morning Rockers.

Lorita. I also would feel very uncomfortable knowing that a dangerous person could possibility be in my area. But with your GPs big barks, that should scare anyone away. I can't imagine 82mph wind. I complain about ours being 15mph. I had to pick up some potted plants that blew over last night.

Just like you, I spend more money on my babies, then I do myself. Dog food Cat food cat sand and all their treats. I would have it no other way. 😍

David. I'm hoping your having a better day today. And also that your feeling better.

Carl. Your wind sounds server to me. Wind at 50 to 60mph, does that not blow down a lot of stuff?

Your all, in my prayers 🙏, stay warm, safe and in out of the wind. Hugs Zetta

I hope all of you have a great day! We're getting ready to pack up our stuff and head back to the "cold waste" (an affectionate term).

The Death Guild anniversary was fantastic - everything I'd hoped it would be. All of my expectations were met - and the mug is better than I thought it would be. It's going to be my new morning tea mug. 🙂

I'll be back in a couple of days.

Lorita, taxes are taxing, aren't they? 🤑

Ron, hope you studied good for your tests. 😆 Seriously, I hope they tell the pulmonologist something that can tell him what to do for you so you can feel better and do more.

Zetta, 60 mph wind does indeed blow down the dead limbs and break power lines. We don't call it "severe" until it throws baseball-sized hail and ruins the siding on the house, or when it starts running in circles at 150-200 mph, because then it picks up the school bus and sets it atop the school. Years ago, I saw an illustration of a Midwest weather gauge. It was an anvil hanging on a chain. If it was wet, it was raining. If it was blowing back and forth, it was windy. If it was gone . . . 😲

That DG sounds great, GG. Glad you had fun, and hope you have an easy trip home. Just think of the trouble the people on Wagon Train went to, just to get to the "cold waste."

It's sunny and windy here, pretty day if you don't mind your hair being blown around. I think I'll go work in the yard some more. Have a nice afternoon.

It's a beautiful day! 72 and sunny! It's been a productive day today as well. I took a bucket of soapy water (Dawn) and a hose and a scrub brush and cleaned my outdoor rug. It looks so much better. Also wrote 4 emails to Congressmen/Senators and followed those up with letters. Also had an eye dr. appointment (routine annual). Our eye dr. has good equipment. We no longer have to have our eyes dilated; he has a machine that takes photos of the back of the eye. Painless. Also has a piece of equipment that measures the pressure (glaucoma check) without what they used to do with yellow dye eye drops. So much more pleasant.

Tomorrow we get rain and possibly snow. Also high winds. We currently have fire danger red flag warnings. There have been some grass fires.

Men's and Women's NCAA basketball tournament games begin this week! I'm beyond excited for my teams! 🏀

You all have a good day! Beth

Got the taxes in order, finally. Will check them.over tomorrow before going in Thursday. The wind is blowing hard, drying out the daffodils. My wild violets are blooming but they're not tall so no bother. FedEx brought my dog food, vitamins and glucosamine for the GPs -now to get them back to the utility room, in a day or two.

Good luck on your tests, Ron. Let us know.

It's 77 and the wind is blowing the grass flst. More dead limbs from the trees will be blown down. Carl, are you all having any wildfires up there? When I go out on the porch I scan the horizon and sniff the air for smoke. The winds will be bad through tomorrow, then pretty quiet Thursday, then back to wind. No one I talk with can remember the winds being so strong for such a long period of time.

Thought I might take a nap but watching MSNBC, Sandy. Wanted to see what Trump and Putin decided - not much. Strange, or maybe not, that Zelenskyy is not involved. What happened to the kinder, gentler world Bush talked about?

Fixed food yesterday thst Charles and I had a lot- steamed sliced carrots, cauliflower and broccoli florets and had instant mashed potatoes with them. I like instant potatoes. These were odd -mixed the packet with two cups water and microwaved about two minutes. Usually it is milk and butter. I did add butter. Brand is Great Value, garlic flavored. Will have enough of all that for three more meals. I also like to microwave a sweet potato, slice it open, add a sprinkle of sugar and eat it with butter. I really don't use butter, just spread. All that and I just had some peanut butter chocolate puffs with sliced bananas. I will stop and watch more news. Be careful out there.

Hello fellow rockers. I had news yesterday morning that knocked the air out of me. My mind is spinning still. A friend from a caregiving group is in her last days on hospice. The thing is, she kept it from everyone. Last summer she took her grandson on a 3 week trip to Norway (where she's from) Denmark and all over that area. In late fall she said her back was hurting & "she had a procedure." I don't know what for sure was done. (Her LO is in a facility, so she's sold their house and is in a condo beside his facility to be near him. She did that last spring.) The first of March she went to the doctor because he back wasn't better, but worse. When the surgeon started the procedure he stopped immediately. Apparently she has cancer of the spine & his words were everywhere. She finally did tell her daughter who lives here and her son who lives in Seattle. Fast forward 5 days & she was placed in a facility & is nonresponsive. She didn't tell anyone else. I realize things are personal, but her best friend of 50 + years is crushed, as are many others.

I certainly don't want to bring anyone down, my apologies if I have. I can't imagine not telling my friends. Maybe that's just me, but I'd want to tell them what they've meant to me. Her LO does understand, the family brought him to see her. Her daughter said I didn't think I could cry anymore, I was wrong. It's just really bothered me.

Oh this wind. And tomorrow its suppose to be worse. You go outside and you feel icky, like you need a shower to get the dirt back off of you. My neighbor is bbqing - I hooked the hose up just in case.

Sorry to be a downer here. I'm going to go back and catch up on everyone. Let's be safe.

Eagle, sorry about your friend. I can imagine how you must feel not knowing what was wrong. Some people are very private and don't want sympathy.

The wind has been awful today and is going to blow all night with another dust storm. Tomorrow it will only be in the 40s. Snow in Kansas and Missouri. The wind tomorrow will be from the north, very strong. I went out to the barn this afternoon to close a Stall door and I bet I could have not moved my feet and got there the wind was so strong. My eyes are really dry and burning and backs of my hands are itchy.

Just went out on the porch to let the GPs in and smelled smoke. Weatherman said there are no fires right now so guess it's smoke from smoldering ones but it scares me anyway. I think there's a big one in western Okla. that has burned 23,000 acres. The dust from NM and the Texas Panhandle is getting close to OKC. Winds will be up to 50 mph. I am so tired of high wind, keeps a person stressed out. Haven't felt on top of the world tiday, guess the wind stress is getting to me. Dread for the wind to be from the north. More dry grass that direction plus the road.

Carl, did you get all your trimming done? Hope you don't get much snow!

    Good night, everyone. Sleep well.

Eagle, sometimes things just overwhelm people. I did something similar in 2012, when my son was in hospital, my mother went to NH after 3 weeks in ICU, and my brother killed himself the same day she went to NH. I was just a mess, and I did some things I regret. Your friend had been under a lot of stress for a long time, and I'm guessing the terminal diagnosis just flattened her. It doesn't mean you didn't mean a lot to her, but she was just knocked out. I am sorry for your loss, and sorry you didn't get to say goodbye.

I still have lots to do outside. I did almost nothing out there all winter, because I literally didn't have time. I won't tomorrow or Thursday, either, with the bad weather, but maybe Friday afternoon while DW is in daycare.

Wind and dust, reminds me of my father's stories about the 1930's in the Texas Panhandle. I like Art Deco and fat fender cars, but there was much about the 1930's to not like. The Dust Bowl was one. You who feel like you need showers after being outdoors probably actually do need showers. The doctors on TV suggest showers for people who are allergic to pollen and have been outside, and that dust and smoke will stick to the oil on your skin and clog your pores just like pollen will.

    Good night, everyone.

    good morning

Lorita glad you were able to get your taxes prepared.

Eagle I’m sorry to hear about your friend. Though this isn’t real common, it’s not real unusual either. I remember several instances when I was working at the hospital where someone came in terminal and their family had no idea that they even had a problem. They had never shared it with their family, though they had known for a while. I think sometimes they just want to protect their family and not burden them. I’m sure there’s many different thought processes people have who do this. There’s so many different situations that people may be facing.

Carl, I’m sorry to hear about all that. At the time we just do the best we know how. My mom has become much more challenging here lately. And sometimes it’s kinda hard to know exactly how to deal with it. We just keep moving forward one step at a time and correct things when we think maybe we goofed up. But then again maybe we didn’t goof up. I think that’s the hardest part for me and dealing with my mom is the unknown, just feeling like you really don’t know how to correctly do things sometimes. Her delusions are so grandiose for lack of a better word. Sometimes I just have to step back for a little bit, which I’ve done for a few days now, but then that bothers me that maybe I should’ve been there making sure things are OK. But at the same time maybe I’m just fooling myself, I don’t know. I have dealt with suicide in my family also. In my case it was my dad and I may have not handled some things right but I did what I thought was best at the time.

the wind is coming back here today also. Then tonight and Thursday they continue to give rain followed by some snow. But to be nice again on Friday.

Ron hope you’re doing OK, you too, David
