Morning, feeling some better, not much pain but there was during the night. Used the heating pad and it helped. Still on liquids today. Looking forward to a scrambled egg or MOM tomorrow, and soup. Kind of weak so have to.br careful walking. I have made a trip to the barn and two or three washing out and filling watering tank. Thanks to all of you for wishing me to get better.
The girls are back!!! Got up about 9, looked out the front door and saw them across the pond. They came up, and went into the barn. Billy was grading in the parking area so opened the gate for him to.be with them. He and I and the girls are happy. They came out of the barn, walked around a little and went back inside. Things are back to normal.
Beth the drawing your grandkids did are so good. They could have a good future as artists.
Sandy, I hope your vision is improving - it may take a while longer but I bet it comes back to normal. Just take it easy. Beautiful morning. Hard to believe the weather is going to be so.bad later and next two or three days. Big hai!, rain, wind and tornados are possible. Should I wait til fall to dig up the peony and raise it?
Enjoy your Saturday..

jfkoc … your pictures are beautiful…my caladiums are so jealous cause there all in pots.
I’m struggling mightily with my tomato plants. I got overzealous and have way too many for containers. I might add I live in a condo. I so miss our big garden when I was little. My Dad was an expert.

Judith. Your pictures are beautiful, and Dicks a very handsome man. One of these days I will remember how to send pictures.
Lorita, I'm glad your starting to feel better. Will the girls be back long? I'm glad you have Darwin checking on you during the day, especially when you say your feeling weak. I'm sure with the girls being back this will help you feel better.
Sandy. Sorry about your eyes. And thank you for sharing this with us. Please do what your doctor is telling you what to do, hopefully you will recover from this, and be as strong as ever.
A lot of you are good at garding. I never have been, I'm not a patient person. I wish I was. Years ago, I think about 20, I got a rose bush it was pretty small. My DH, told me no way could we grow roses in our snowy part of Oregon. I planted that bush, took care of it like it was a baby. I was so surprised and pleased when the roses, many came on. I sold my house when I moved to Arizona, last year and that rose bush was still there. I sure had a good time showing my DH, the roses, he was not amused. And every year I had a few roses on that bush.
My daughter and SIL, are flying home from London, they have been gone for three weeks. They will be landing in Los Angeles at 6pm and after thier layover they will get on another plane and land in Arizona around 9pm. I will be so glad to have them home. Taking care of 2 dogs and 3 cats has kept me pretty busy. I need a vacation 😂
Hugs to all. Zetta

He's handsome, Judith!

So sorry you haven't been well but glad things are improving. Good that the girls are back! I know that gives you joy. 😊 You can move the peony any time; I will soon be digging a division of Mom and Dad's peonies from their graves. Wishing you well.

Such a beautiful family, Judith! Dick was handsome, both as a young man as well as in his later years. Loved seeing your caladiums too. What is the story on Lorita's sister's painting???
0 -
Judith, your pictures are great. What a handsome cowboy grandson. And Dick was handsome, too. I liked the picture of you and him when we had avatars. Your caladiums are beautiful!
Where is.the painting? I would like you to have it, too. Let me know what I need to do. That isn't the kind of painting she liked to do. She told me they told her to do that kind when she was in AL.. I guess the kind she liked to do was still life, flowers, etc. And I think she did a self portrait once. I have a painting she did of cowboy roses she gave Charles and I for our wedding, and several others.
Still kind of wobbly. Did take down the trash. Not as hungry today as I was yesterday so I think I will make it. I have had white grape juice and tea today.
Zetta, I guess the girls will be here until he moves them again but no reason to move them. There is grazing galore now. They are in the barn again. When they were gone, just about a mile away across from Darwin they would stand by the fence close to his barn. Guess they wanted in. I think they're glad to be home and I know Billy is happy now and me, too.

Lorita…I will go to the facility Monday and see what we can do. Your sisters name would be helpful.
I will let Lorita tell the story @ the painting.

Judith, is it the ALC where she was? Her last name was Love.

Lorita, I'm wondering what is the story on the painting? Sounds like your sister was a talented artist. 😊

JeriLynn - Rainier cherries, yumm! When you lived in WA state, did you ever have Lapins or high elevation cherries? We encountered them for the first time once we moved here. They're the best cherries I've ever had, and they are humongous in size. They come out later in the summer, but they're worth the wait. Here are a few links - Hood River Cherry Company (theirs were the first ones we had), facts about lapins cherries, and news about lapins at Hood River Cherry Company (old article).
I hope all of you stay safe with all of the bad weather.
I remember you writing about your FIL … Thinking of you …. those one year anniversaries are a bear.
HB - I hear you on the damp and dreary. It's been raining here non-stop all day today.
Ugh, managing medications. I got lucky while managing Peggy's medications - and there were a few. She had Kaiser, and Kaiser had an arrangement with Peggy's MCF. I signed forms, then I'd just get a text when refills got shipped to the MCF. I never had to do anything. It was one small thing off my plate.
About the baby shower … didn't I see that plot line on All My Children? 😈 (kidding)
Carl — food trucks!! On the rare occasions I go to Hawaii, I'm very fond of the malasada food trucks. I prefer the unfilled kind.
Lorita - you take care. I hope you start feeling better soon. I'm also curious about the painting. I love that photo that jfkoc posted of it.
jfkoc - Oh! Caladiums. I didn't think I knew what those were until I saw your photos. My mom grew those. Funny about the O'Douls. My dad and my brother used to drink those - I'd forgotten all about them.
You've got a good-looking family! That photo of your husband in his uniform is so classic, it could be from a magazine.
Zetta - by now your daughter should be home. I hope you all had a great evening! (although, I bet she's tired - that's a long flight)
Today was my weekend cleaning day. I was motivated to get it all done so that we could have a good evening tonight. It was easy to do since it rained all day. It was a good day to just be inside.
I don't know if I mentioned this here or not, so I apologize if I did … I went through the stuff I have of Peggy's and found her class ring. She always wore it, and she wore it up until memory care. I don't know why I was surprised to find it, but I was. I'm giving it to her best friend, M. M is the guy who would come and see her every other day in memory care (like clockwork) and stay for hours. He's an amazing person. I've always thought of them as platonic life partners, so in my head, he should have that ring.

Judith!!!! Oh my goodness, those photos…. Dick was a handsome and dashing gentleman and your family just beautiful. Your caladiums are gorgeous. Wonder if I could plant those on the outer border of the chicken run? I'll have to google to see if they are toxic to birds… those would certainly improve the look of that awful chain link chicken run.
Anxiously awaiting the story of the painting by Lorita's sister. And, hoping you feel better and get a little solid food in today, Lorita. Glad you and Billy the Bull have your girls back. I imagine the girls are happy too. Easy does it for you until you regain your strength! Although, I am thinking that trying to tell you to "take it easy" is about like talking to my DH. Deaf ears. I say this with love in my heart. ❣️
Yesterday turned out to be a glorious day. Sunny, warm. We managed to set out a couple petunias and finish the hanging wall planters on the patio. The trellis is up and we will go next week to the Country Garden Lady. I don't know her name or her story but I plan to find out.
DH has a Grandson who lives nearby that we don't see as often as the Huntland crew. But, yesterday they came for a visit. They are looking for a pontoon boat (they had one before they moved here) so we piled in the truck to go to the lake on a search. We had a lovely lunch at the floating lakeside grill. Found the perfect spot for them to keep a boat at the marina. I'm trying to talk DH into getting us a spot as well. We rode all thru the countryside and stopped in Lynchburg for ice cream. A great day. That set of family includes 2 children; a 4th grade boy and 7th grade girl. They are coming back next weekend when we open the pool for the season.
GG, I'm not sure about Lapins but am familiar with the Hood River Company. I'll look it up. I think giving Peggy's class ring to Mr. M is a fitting gesture. Just lovely.
Zetta, enjoy your family's return.
HB, we're waiting for baby shower stories. We can pool bail $ as needed, lol.
Oh my, what a lifesaver is this thread. I don't know what I would do without it. Have a good day everyone and be safe wherever you are. TTYL.

Good morning
Lorita hope you are continuing to feel better. Glad all your babies are back.
Judith I enjoyed the pictures. Those may be the nicest Caladiums I have seen.

Good morning. The rain finally cleared out yesterday and now the weather is gorgeous. Finally.
Judith— Thanks for sharing the pictures. They're great. Dick was quite the dashing aviator.
Zetta— I hope your "kids" are home with a minimum of fuss. That's a long day for them with so many places where things could go sideways. I guess you'll soon be back to yoga.
Lorita— In the spirit of homecomings, I'm glad the girls are back. I think it'll do you a world of good to have them near you.
Jerilynn— A pontoon boat? In a slip or to tow with the RV? My parents had one on the bay when they were in MD— it was a lot of work for my mom as I recall.
Be careful of caladiums. They're toxic to humans and many animals. You'd need to seek emergency medical attention for children, cats, dogs, rabbits, goats, or horses who ate on them. Given your zoo, it seems best to enjoy them in pictures.
Gothic G— Yes. A story arc on AMC with Erica Kane in the middle of it somehow.

The shower was lovely. It was in an old historic colonial inn. We had a small private dining room with a sunporch where the cake/desserts and gifts were displayed and a small patio off that. I asked the manager to allow us to use the patio for my friend who is immunodeficient could take off her mask and eat. After all, she was footing the bill. Mom and I took our plates out and ate there as well.
The food was good. The space was gorgeous, but kind of dimly lit which meant mom and my friend (who both have retinal issues and need a lot of light) were stumbling around a bit on the old uneven floors. The former set of in-laws were very gracious and welcoming and did an amazing job planning. The latter set of in-laws kept quietly to themselves with some glasses of bubbly. They left early as they had a second shower to attend and a 2-hour drive ahead of them. The MIL was only semi-weird. (she'd insisted on wearing an evening gown to the couples "smart casual" garden wedding) Nobody fell and there were no fights, so I'm calling it a success. I even won a prize for the top score in "Twin Trivia". I was actually correct about the one answer I got wrong but feel it would be over-the-top to forward an article from PubMed to the hostess. LOL, I got my tea towels so we're all good.
Take out with friends later. She's just back from a dive trip in the Philippines. I managed to find a bottle of a Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2024 wines, so I'll bring that to share. It's always interesting to see what the experts deem an excellent value for money. I hope it goes with pizza.

Good morning all. I've gone back and hopefully I'm caught up. We had such a precious time with our friends. DH did perfectly with them. Then yesterday he was really 'off.' Nothing terrible, but just lots of word searching, stuttering and lost thoughts. And if you know where he put the newly opened strawberry jam I'd love to toss it out now. I saw he head to the refrig with it, but its not there. I'm sure I'll find it 'somewhere' one day!
Lorita do you feel like you've got bunch of mother hens watching over you? We're all concerned. Being weak isn't good, then add to it the heat & humidity and that's not a good equation. Please do be careful.
GothicGremlin the idea of you giving Peggy's class ring away is so tender. It brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful thing for you to do.
Our forecast last night was severe storms, hail, high winds, etc. We literally received 17 raindrops, if that. I'm not complaining, but why oh why do the weather forecasters make it sound like the end of the earth is coming and zip happens? I know several families whom cancelled graduation parties because of the forecast. I know if it would have happened it would have been bad. But goodness they certainly missed the mark.
I have an urge to walk through a nursery and look at pretty flowers. Y'all and your green thumbs. I'm an ok gardener, and I really do enjoy it. But when the knees kill me it quickly isn't fun. But I can hope!
Let's be safe everyone.

Lorita…yes
Pics…thank you. I think that is all I need to share…lol. The Caladiums are from Florida boys. Lorita has ordered from them too. Sorry about the toxicity…no dead animals as of yet. Take a look at their web site for a treat.
And the rain continues……………………………

Morning, Eagle, we got your storms last night about 3. Lots of loud thunder and lightning. I think I heard hail (I had put the vehicles In The carport just in case) and rain. I turned on the TV and our weatherman was there .No tornado warning but severe thunderstorms. Several places had huge hail stones earlier in the night. I can't see any damage but Darwin had downed limbs on the tree his first wife planted. He treasures that one tree in his yard so hope it wasn't damaged too much.
Thank you all for your concern. I feel better, still some pain. I'm having a bit of yogurt this morning but think I will stay on liquids today. I have malt o meal but it has more fiber than cream of wheat so will wait on that.
I know the girls are happy to.be home and were able to.be in the barn during the storm. I saw them happily grazing in the south pasture this morning. I'm sure Billy is happy, too, although he won't get his feed every day now. It felt so empty.to.not have them grazing somewhere on the 130 acres.
About Lorita, my sister. I won't go into great deal but sufficeth to say it took Judith, Sarah, Todd , a policeman who would check on her and had a "talk" with LMG and I to save her and her home from lawn mower guy(LMG). Also with the help of A Place For Mom we got her into assisted living. Judith visited her there and this is where she saw the painting. Lorita fell and broke her hip and ankle on opposite sides (she was about 88 then). She never recovered. The plan was to give that painting to Judith after my sister was gone but Sarah was really sick and she wasn't able to get to the ALF to get it for her. Judith has been so good to help with Lorita and Sarah so hope we can get this accomp!ished. Lorita painted for years and it gave her great pleasure. I have three or four of her paintings and it makes me feel c!ose to her.
I had a little yogurt this morning and applesauce just now. I'm on my second load of laundry, got the first one dried and folded. Also fed the birds and Rusty.
A year or so ago I had a big planter of Florida Boys caladiums outside of the yard where we park. I let the girls in to graze and someone ate all of the leaves. No ill effects I noticed, maybe because she was so big. They came back fuller and beautiful. I have the ones in the yard in pretty tall planters away from the GPs and Rusty, I hope.
Sandy, hope things are improving. I know you are glad to be home. Anymore bears?
Back later. Looks like rain.

Good morning all.
My kids got home last night we were all so happy, especially thier dog and 2 cats. They had a very long day, with being 8 hours ahead of us it made thier day longer. They were on the ship for 14 days, crusing the 🇬🇧 UK, Scotland and Ireland 🇮🇪. They got off the ship in Dover, England and got on a shuttle bus, that took them to the London, airport that was 2 hours away. Then on the first plane that took them to Los Angeles, that flight was 11.5 hours. Then on the 2nd flight to Phoenix that 1.5 hours. Then Uber to home 30 minutes. They had a great time, now I need a rest.
HB. Yes we will be starting yoga back up on Thursday. This time we are becoming members, and will be going twice a week.
We plan on having a lazy day today, we just ordered a pizza. They both have to go back to work tomorrow.
HUgs and good day to all, Zetta

Lorita…I had forgotten about LMG.
Zetta…what a wonderful trip they had. Did the do Northern Ireland? The Ilse of Skye?

Hello, friends.
I didn't know anything was toxic to goats. In some places you can rent flocks of them to clean up patches of poison ivy! I learn something every time I come here.
I took DS with me to visit DW today. She was glad to see us but went to sleep after a while, because she's on a lot of pain meds.
The pool party was great yesterday. I didn't play in the water; I sat in the shade on the covered pavilion and listened to the music. I stay out of the sun at midday, so I was wearing a long-sleeved white shirt and a big Panama hat with my khakis and sunglasses. One of my friends said I needed a Cuban cigar to complete the look. I mentioned a fountain pen I had in high school, that used a plastic ink cartridge instead of an inkwell, and a young mother across the table said "My grandfather had one of those." That makes you feel young 😉

Just heard that President Biden has been diagnosed with prostatic cancer with bone metastases. Sad news.
Eagle, Happy to have the mother hens wishing me well.
JeriLynn, I have had a little yogurt a little sauce and some milk. Stomach is still growlng and wanting more - maybe tomorrow. I'm craving instant mashed potatoes..
Zetta, glad your folks are home. Sounds like they had a wonderful trip.
Carl, glad you had a good day. Bet you got a lot of admiring looks. There used to be a herd of goats a few miles from here that could be rented out. They would be gone a while, then back. I have poison ivy around the tree trunk and violets so I could use one or two. Will spray after the bad weather. Already getting darker here.
The caladiums from Florida Boys are really nice. Got mine planted a few days ago and anxious to see them come up.

I have what I think is a pair of doves eating from the bird feeders and staying around.. Could be quail but they are a pretty gray and I think quail are kind of striped. Birds aren't eating as much so guess they're finding grass seeds or something else.
Weather says there have.been severe storms in far NE Okla.. with a dry line in Western Okla. Tomorrow will.be the worst day. Just now said more storms later this week. Seems like the weather is getting more violent every year
