Welcome! The book "Travelers to Unimaginable Lands" by Dasha Kiper is one of the best of the dozens of books I have read since DW was diagnosed 8 years ago. The insights there can be applied to ease our burden in many ways.
Feel free to ask anything at all, there will be surprises along the way, some good and some not so good.3 -
Hi! Welcome. My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer a little over a year ago at the age 57. He also is Type I diabetic (he was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes 2021) He is already at moderate stage with the Alzheimer. I am still working, so the challenges are real. I basically manage is diabetes because everything happened at once he doesn't have the cognitive ability to do so.
This group is very helpful. Be sure to go easy on yourself!

Type 1 diabetes is a risk factor for both alzheimer's and vascular dementia. My DW has had type I diabetes since she was 8 years old. She was diagnosed with vascular dementia at the age of 60. She had had symptoms since age of 56. There are several others on this board whose spouses have type I diabetes and dementia. Perhaps we should start some type of subgroup although I would not know where to start…
