Morning, had a little rain last night and will be cooler today and tomorrow.

I was one of those people watching on and off. All we got to see was scaffolding and canvas going up. They say his name is gone.but I haven't seen it yet. Just heard the Center is going to be closed two years for renovation.

Better get up and let Stormy out and get my juice. Back later.

Morning. This is a change, grey and 73. I've spent all morning outdoors locing on my plants, cleaning up the patio, etc.

Nothing on the agenda today, which is what I like. Being raised in central KS I've seen the night stars. If we wanted even better viewing we'd go about two miles north of town on top of a hill. The sky was so bright you'd think it was daytime, only it was stars. The Milky Way is breath taking. DH and I were chatting about it last night. He kept saying "remember we'd think we could reach out and touch the stars?" I'm thankful this ugly disease hasn't robbed him of those memories.

Lorita that many ticks is concerning. Be careful.

Think I'll rummage through the freezer and see what I can toss on the smoker or the grill for dinner later. Everyone, be safe.

It has been a beautiful day. Wouldn't it be nice if it wouldn't get any hotter than this during the summer? Zetta, what if they gold leafed the letters? Hope you're doing well.

Mint, are you okay? You haven't posted in a while. I hope everything is all right.

I have a question for the gardeners. I found this caterpillar on my succulent plant. Most of the lower leaves dried up, perhaps not enough water? I don't know how it got up here, because my balcony is on the second floor. Will it become a butterfly? Should I set it downstairs onto the grass?

Hi everyone - we're wrapping up our wine country trip. We leave to go back to WA state beginning early tomorrow.

The weather today was SO nice, warm, around 85 degrees, not a cloud in the sky. We ended up going to Iron Horse, home of sparkling wine and they did not disappoint. We bought two bottles - an Ocean (some of the proceeds to go the marine mammal center), and a Gratitude, because yes.

Later on we went to Mauritson, one of Peggy's favorite wineries. They do a lot of Zinfandels, so if you're a zin person, Mauritson is your winery. We had a long conversation with the woman pouring for us, and it turns out she's been there for a long time and remembered Peggy well! I could tell she really did remember her by the comments she had. 🙂 So that was nice.

Then back to the hotel for a dip in the hot tub (after that hard day of drinking!) , now we're just hanging out. We'll go to sleep early so that we can get out early.

Sorry, Iris, no idea about the caterpillar. Sasue is good about identification so maybe she will help.

Carl, I know how hard today is so just know if you need or want to talk we're here. We understand.

I'm Glad you had a good day GG and meeting someone who knew Peggy was the cherry on top. I had plans to cut down tall poke plants early today but have a headache so maybe later. I often have a left sided headache when I wake up, just the top side of my head. Told my doctor and he prescribed a muscle relaxant and it really works. but I forgot to tale it last night.

You all have a good day.

Good morning. Sunny and perfect weather today. We finally got some thunderstorms late last night and an inch of rain. Yay! I'll do some more weeding tomorrow.

    _______________________________________________

Carl— I'm thinking of you today.

Ron— Fingers crossed you get a call about the studio apartment with a move-in date.

Eaglemom— We had the Ivory Coast vs Ecuador game in Philly last night. See weather report above. Yuck. Earlier in the day my feed was full of Ecuadorian fans taking in all the city sites and landmarks. They were living their best lives out there. Alas, they jinxed themselves with the Rocky statue. Teams that dress Rocky in their jerseys never win. I guess they didn't know that.

DH and I have caught the Milky Way on trips to smaller Carribean islands.

Judith— I was thinking of you this morning and how you use a single set of sheets. That's usually my strategy but I treated myself to a set of linen sheets for my anniversary, so now I'm stuck folding a king set with 4 pillow slips. That said, the linen is dreamy— I should have done this years ago.

Iris— Rod Stewart is a legend. I'm a fan having seen him 50 years ago and DS admires his model train layout and collection.

    Your caterpillar is very cute.

Lorita— Poor you with the ticks again. Would wearing a DEET repellant make sense at this point.

I hope Billy isn't having the same issues as last time.

Gothic G— How nice of you to run into someone who knew your sister.

I envy your trip; it's a bucket list item for DH and myself. Of the wines you mentioned, I think I've only had the Iron Horse. I had a glass of the Fairytale Celebration Cuvee at the Contemporary Resort watching fireworks; he had a Mickey Mouse Cocktail because he was only 7.

Zetta— I don't know that that tarp is going to come down anytime soon.

DH and I are going out for a nice lunch up county overlooking the river. We like to do this at least once a year. One year we brought mom and she fell off the last step onto a stone floor which was exciting. Another year there was a cicada invasion which loud and kind of creepy.

My niece is supposed to see mom today. She bailed yesterday which is understandable but disappointing for mom. I did stop by to drop off a case of beer for her; she likes a Gaffel Kolsch this time of year with dinner. I caught her off her O2. Again. Always an excuse. O2 was 82% so it wasn't a matter of a minute or 2. Being the oxygen police is exhausting.

    Good morning.

I tried to look at the Milky Way last night but there was too much light pollution to see any stars at all.

I don't think I've ever seen linen sheets. I see sheets with silver threads being advertised on YT, supposedly for grounding. I just have plain sheets.

HB, I ordered some tick repellant and I think there is an old can of Back Woods under the cabinet - never used.

Can't seem to get going this morning. Right shoulder hurts - I dipped water out of the water tank with a bucket until I could turn it over so that is probably the reason. Right side hurt yesterday for the same reason.

Thursday or Friday I swept rat droppings on the front porch with a whisk broom into a dustpan and threw them into the yard. It was outside in the wind.but I am a little concerned about that disease you can get from being around mice. Google says the risk is low.

HB, late yesterday I saw Billy going out to graze and he wasn't limping, just walking slowly as he does. So hope he is okay.

Thank you all for your encouragement. I think I'll be OK. Last night was hard but I'm getting better.

The election season has officially begun. I answered my phone because I am expecting the garage door repairer, and it was a telemarketer reading a script for a politician. 🤢

75 and sunny here today, with a breeze. Lots of pollen, and some flooding in the low places, but we don't expect more rain for a couple of days.

Hope you all have a nice day. TTYL

That's the Delaware about 14 miles north of where Washington crossed. New Jersey on the other side of the bridge. I had pan roasted cod with cockles, fingerlings and an andouille cream sauce along with a glass of their proprietary Chardonnay (the rest of the bottle went in my doggie bag). DH had the same plus a cheese plate.

The upstairs bar is fun, too. There's no view but they do have a huge collection of British Royal Commemoratives. The inn dates back to the 1740s.

    HB, pretty scenery and plants.

We made it back home. It was close to a 15 hour drive - I'm positive I was a trucker in a past life. I'm skipping Death Guild tonight and just going to go to sleep. See you all tomorrow.

Hi had my grocery delivery this morning just after 8. Everything is put away so glad that is done. Surely is better than going to the store. Darwin said they had a deIivery at 10 last night. Guess that was the only available time when his daughter ordered.

Had a scare late yesterday- fed Billy at 5:30- ,at 7:30 feed was still uneaten. Checked the barn then drove out in pasture to look for him. Nothing but was afraid to go too far because of possibly getting stuck. Called our neighbor and he hadn't seen him. Came back, checked barn again and got the PU. He likes to stay in the storage bldg at the MH so checked there. He wasn't in it but did see him nearby. I had heard a bull bellowing earlier in that direction. When I came back home heard him again. He is ready for the girls to come home!! I need to open the north doors of the barn but not sure I can move the heavy cattle panel. We put a longer one there last year. Guess I will wait for Bryon to do it.

When I was in the south pasture I saw lots of wild flowers - a couple of kinds of black eyed Susans and others.. I have a pot of black eyed Sudan's blooming that I ordered fro!m.QVC and caladiums are doing well. Two containers are mostly white. The cats got the bulbs mixed up. I like to have red and white but will Leave them.

Thinking about a nap later today.

Juneteenth has to be the least publicized holiday of all. I am daily educating people as to why the senior center, post office, etc. will be closed Friday. We need to have some parades, holiday sales, greeting cards, etc. to get the word out.

Speaking of holidays, I see the fireworks tents are going up. They'll be open in a few days, and it will be pop, pop, BANG! 💥 for weeks. It is illegal to sell or shoot fireworks in Springfield, so all the neighbors' grandchildren come out here in the county for BBQ and fireworks. Between the charcoal and black powder, it looks and sounds like the Civil War. Good times.

Got a new spring on my garage door yesterday, so it goes up and down again. Today I have a call in to my insurance agent about the April 28 hailstorm. Being the adult is a lot of trouble.

Had ham & beans with cornbread and spinach at the senior center today. Pretty good lunch for $4. While I was there I bought the last two T-shirts advertising the Route 66 centennial for $5 each. DS needs more short sleeved shirts, and these will work fine.

Need to check my laundry. TTYL

On closer examination, the T-shirts advertise the 2024 Route 66 pickleball tournament. No matter. DS would wear a shirt that advertised a girl scout camp if he could get it for $5.

Lorita, I love black-eyed Susans. Maybe I'll plant some next spring.
