Jo C was a wonderful person, always so thoughtful and encouraging!

Lorita, was today your birthday? Happy belated Birthday!

HB, how is your mom doing? Did she have her thoracentesis today?

Ron, how was your first night in your new home?

Lorita - that's a very pretty and serene picture you painted of your life on the farm. I can see why you love it so much.

    Happy belated birthday!

Ron - I hope your move is going smoothly.

Hi Beth - Box jumps - no, I don't do those. I'm really, really not good at them. Part of it is probably my height - I'm 5 feet on a good day. I don't know if jump rope is good enough to help build bone, but I'm thinking of adding that back into my rotation. I don't love it, but it's good cardio.

HB - Your poor mom, having to deal with all of that.

    And thank you. 🙂

Judith - are you practicing a lot on your bagpipes?

Zetta - JoC was special. When I first started spending time here, she was one of the ones who I listened intently to. I learned so much from her. She is missed.

Today was my cleaning day, and I got it all done for the most part.

Right now I'm starting to slow done and get ready for sleep. I'm listening to Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd, because I never get tired of those guys. And - there's a good sax part in that song.

Happy Father's Day, Ron and Carl!

Thanks, everyone for the birthday wishes. Today is my birthday. I was born on Father's Day many moons ago-84 to be exact at 9:30 a.m. This is the day daddy and I always dug potatoes. Thank you, Sandy, for the birthday card - couldn't be more appropriate. That cow has such pretty eyes.

Guess I better get up - not sure when Bryon will get here . I didn't think about it being Father's Day when I called him.

Good morning. Happy Father's Day to those who observe.

Lorita— Belated Happy Birthday. I hope you get the doors on the barn open so the girls can get out of the weather. I don't like to move either. I'd love to move to a more sensible house but dread the showings, sale drama, and the purge 'n' pack. As awful as it was to have our first home destroyed in the flood and lose almost everything we owned, it made for an easy move. The sale was easy too as the county bought the lot to combine with the adjacent park.

I rewatch Father of the Bride every couple of years. It's kind of funny to watch the 1950 and 1991 versions back-to-back.

Judith— The flags sound fun. Mom bought some decor for her little porch the other day. The store was pretty picked over but she got some bunting and an obnoxious red, white and blue wreath. Her neighbors are all big into seasonal decor.

It's funny, DH and I have been watching YouTube videos of various afternoon teas offered in London. Getting back there is a bucket list item. The one vlogger makes me crazy because he saves his cucumber sandwich for last. After downing the salmon and coronation chicken salad ones he can't possibly taste the cucumber one.

Ron— You earned that fussing. How did the first night go? Have you had a meal there yet or met any new neighbors?

Lady Z— Thanks for sharing the picture of Jo C. She was always so kind and helpful.

Iris— We're still waiting for the procedure to be scheduled. They call us. It's done outpatient by an interventional radiologist. The pulmo wasn't sure how long the wait times are currently. Sometimes getting this kind of thing can take some time. When she had her last one in March, she had to wait at least a day as an inpatient.

Gothic G— I can't do box jumps either. A PT told me that stomps are good. He also suggested squats explaining that the muscles and tendons communicate with bone to encourage growth/repair.

Beth— I'm sorry about your lack luster crop.

It's funny you mention your struggles with the middle school kids. One of DS's teachers describes middle school/jr. high as the range of the strange. It's an acquired taste. LOL, middle school was mom's sweet spot as a teacher. She was certified K-12 and taught the full range. She like 6-8th grades best. So weird.

One of my friends got back from the Bahamas last night and wants to meet up for dinner. I suggested we meet early at a roadside diner dive as I suspect fancier places will be slammed. I hope it's not too busy. The weather's nice so we should be able to eat outside. It's byob and cash only, so I'll need to go out later.

DS is working late, so he wouldn't be home in time to have a dinner home.

I hope all have a pleasant day.

Thanks, all of you, for the birthday wishes. My birthday is today - Father's Day, first day of summer and the longest day of the year. How did I get to be the old? Seems like it was a only a year or so ago when I was 52 and retired but it was 32 years ago. Time flies when you're having fun. Thanks, again.

Bryon called to let me know he couldn't get his crew together today, too much going on. I had forgotten it was Father's Day when I called.him. He was going to come and try to take them down by himself but I told him they are way too heavy. He will get a couple of them together and come after work. The girls can get in the barn but with the north doors closed there is not much ventilation. They are going in and out this morning.

    Good morning

I achieved one of my fitness/exercise goals this week. I deadlifted 50 lbs! I'm pretty proud of myself. Next goal is 70 lbs. I think I need to work with a trainer to make sure my technique is ok so I don't injure myself.

    Have a good day, everyone!

Morning, we had rain during the night and I have left the PU.hood.up. I had left the car and PU hoods up to help deter mice. I went out late and closed the car hood but forgot about the PU. Hope it hasn't been ruined. Darwin says it will.be ok.

Congratulations, Beth. I have lifted 50 lb sacks of feed from the PU bed.but not from the ground. Be careful and.don't hurt yourself.

    Happy Monday, everyone.

Good morning! Cloudy and breezy here, light rain expected to end soon.

I had a nice day yesterday. DS and I were already at church when the tornado sirens sounded. The pastor told us we were in the safest place in the world, prayed for us, and proceeded with his sermon. He grew up in communist Romania and is not easily rattled. A small, quite young rabbit was noshing on the weeds in my flower bed, and we saw a deer by the road near Valley Water Mill Park. Had lunch and a visit with DS, played some favorite old music, just a pleasant Sunday.

You exercisers are encouraging me to get off the couch and get my strength back. I have chair chi after lunch today, that's a good start.

    Have a great day! 🌻

    Good morning.

Lifting 50 pounds, good for you, Beth!

Lorita, I hope your PU engine will be okay.

Carl, you had a very nice start to your summer, aside from the tornado warning. I have neighbors who escaped communist Romania in the 1980s.

Called my doctor to get tested for possible Hantavirus and he is on leave for this week. Have an appt next Monday. Sandy, I just had a feeling he was going to be gone this week.

There was lots of severe weather south of us last night. Strong winds up to 80 mph. One place had of OKC had winds of 102 mph. Damages around Lake Eufaula-Bryon lives close to the Lake. Haven't been out to see.how much rain we had but there were puddles. Guess I need to see if the PU will start.

    @Lorita

If you have reason to think you have symptoms of hantavirus after exposure, next Monday may not be soon enough. You may need to be seen in an urgent care or the ED at the hospital asap.

Hi, a week ago last Thutsday or Friday I was out on the end of the porch using s whisk broom to sweep old bird feed off the banisters. Noticed some rat droppings I had seen quite some time ago but had forgotten. Not thinking I.bent over and swept them into a dustpan and threw them into the yard.. Seems like I inhaled while nent over enough that I noticed it. The wind was blowimg.

Afterwards I thought about it so looked it up on my tablet. Had never heard of it until I heard about people on the cruise ship getting it. I looked up the symptoms which included diarrhea, fever, nausea, SOB etc. Had some diarrhea the last week and sometimes a low.grade temp in late afternoon when your temp can be elevated. No SOB or nausea or.vomiting. I think I'm okay but thought I would just be sure and get the tests. Probably just overthinkng about it. Test tesults.can take several days. We do have an urgent care and health and wellness center in town!

Severe storms predicted tomorrow evening and.night and again Thursday then very hot next week. Not ready for summer heat and humidity.. Need to go out and see if the PU will start and lower the.hood.

Darwin just called and said we had 1.5" of rain last night. He has to have an eye injection in the morning. HB, I told.him your mother has that done and I would ask you how often and how long she had had it done. This is about the fourth time he has had it done Really dreads it.

Ron and Carl - I hope you both had a good Father's Day.

HB - I do like a good afternoon tea. I hope you guys make it back to London sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the good news on squats - I'm covered! 🙂

About middle school teachers - my dad taught remedial math to 7th and 8th graders - it was a tough gig, but he wouldn't have had it any other way. When I used to take him into town (at around age 89), it never failed, one of his former students would come up to us and tell my dad what a difference he made in their life. It was nice to see.

Lorita - I'm glad you had a good birthday.

Now maybe a trip to urgent care? I wouldn't wait on this.

Beth - congrats!!!! I told my trainer and he says "congrats" as well. You'll make 70lbs in no time. I think you're right - time to get a trainer. A good one will keep you in good form, and push you just enough so that you can safely meet your goals.

    Hi Zetta and eaglemom

As for me, I've been working away getting this week's posts in shape and adding new photos.

Gym was good today - I got to do the earthquake bar. Beth - you want to do the earthquake bar - another reason to get a trainer.

Tonight's Death Guild, so I'm going to go take a nap so that I can stay up late.

Lorita, we have hantavirus out here in California in the desert. It's unlikely that you have hantavirus. Here is what AI told me about hantavirus in Oklahoma.

"Hantavirus cases are extremely rare in Oklahoma. According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health, there are currently no active or suspected cases of hantavirus in the state, and none have been reported locally in recent years. The virus is occasionally monitored when international outbreaks occur, but local infections remain highly uncommon. Nationally, hantavirus is a reportable disease, though most cases historically occur in western states rather than Oklahoma.

When infections do occur in Oklahoma, they are typically isolated events linked to direct contact with the droppings or saliva of infected wild rodents (such as deer mice) in enclosed, dusty environments like barns or outbuildings. Symptoms usually appear 1 to 8 weeks after exposure and typically include:

Fever, fatigue, and muscle aches (especially in the thighs, hips, and back)

    Headaches, dizziness, and chills

    Abdominal issues (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)

Severe respiratory distress and shortness of breath as the illness progresses

If you encounter or need to clean up areas with signs of a rodent infestation, public health experts recommend wearing a mask, gloves, and using a bleach solution to prevent stirring up dust that may contain the virus. You can review localized disease guidelines through the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

If you are asking about a specific cleaning project or recent exposure, please tell me: What kind of structure were you in (shed, barn, old home, etc.)? Roughly how long ago did the exposure occur?"

Lorita, hantavirus feels like getting the "flu". Special antibody testing is necessary. And you would need close monitoring of respiratory function. Does your medical plan offer an advice telephone number? You might want to call. But if you feel sick, urgent care or an emergency room is the place to go.
