UTI Test for Incontinent?
Hello. Is there any way a nursing home can test a patient who has Alzheimer's and is incontinent? My mom is 87, and recently, her agitation and combativeness have continued to escalate. She is hitting, biting, scratching, screaming, and, as they said, "speaking in tongues." She sleeps mainly all day and does not eat as…

My 89 year old mother has been living in IL for about 5 years since my father died. She plays bridge a few times a week, but otherwise her activities are eating meals in the dining room with her friends and watching tv. Over the last few months she’s stopped taking out her garbage, washing her dishes, or doing laundry. Her…

New definition of a bad day
Found DH on his hands and knees in the bathroom with poop everywhere. He was trying to clean it up by putting chunks down the shower drain. I managed to get that stopped and got him in the shower while I cleaned up the floor and the toilet. Then I scrubbed him thoroughly and got him dried and dressed. Then I started the…

toilet mishaps
My DH has beenjust been diagnosed with early Alz but now occasionally misses the toilet at night, which he has never done before. I am less concerned about the clean up aspect of this than I am of the fear that this is a sign of progression. I welcome any and all thoughts about this.

Public restroom use
When there is no family restroom available and my DH uses the men's room, it often takes him an eternity. I get worried and anxious. When he finally emerges he'll tell me that he had a lot of poop and it took forever to clean up. Is there any appropriate way for me to help him in a public restroom?

Getting my LO into bed
My LO is in late stage dementia. She can no longer stand without a walker and assistance. Getting her into bed requires lifting her off her commode chair and, while holding her up, pulling on her pull-up. I then lift her onto the bed. She often resists or slumps in my arms. There must be a better way. The pull-up is a real…

I am interested in trying a condom catheter for his condition. Anyone out there with any experience with a brand of these? I like QuickChange.com but they do fill up with 500 cc of urine fairly quickly. Thank you, Anne
