Lorita, I hope you feel better soon!
I did make it to Sunday School and church service yesterday and plan on going to bingo today at council on aging center.
Eagle, if I would have thought about it, we could have met for coffee somewhere a couple of weeks ago. I spent several days with my brother in Plano and son in Dallas.

Good morning Friends
Lorita, thinking of you and praying for you. You too, Ron. And Mint and JeriLynn - all dealing with some things that aren't easy.
Good to hear from you, Zetta. I think you have made a good move and am glad for you.
We are looking to move! We put an offer on a house nearer to our son, DIL and grandchildren. The plan is to take possession in about 3 weeks and be fully moved in around the first of October. Lots to do to get ready and to get our current home on the market.
Have a good week!

Morning, slept well last night.Pain faded but this morning my ribs are a little sore. Have a doctor's appt. At 1:30 so it will be hot...Their Monday morning are always fully booked with labs. I'm hungry.but juice and water will have to do.
Ron, sounds like you're doing a little better,so glad.
Beth, if you move, what about your plants?
Darwin has asked me several Times if I would like for him to take me to the doctor. They are such good neighbors. Hope everyone is well thus morning. Back later.

Good morning all.
Eaglemom— I'm glad you were able to get back on the site. That is so frustrating. I find when I have issues with accessing a site, clearing out my cache, cookies and history and restarting the computer does the trick.
Iris— I'm sorry the sleep is still messed up. That's stressful.
Did you have a Beetle? One of my favorite cousins drove one when I was a teen. They're a wee bit bigger than the Mini. I've driven MGBs, a Fiero and a Miata and the Mini feels tighter in some ways. LOL, you don't so much get in it as put it on. Fortunately, the camp chair made the trip. With 2 artificial knees I don't know that mom could get off the sand if she sat down.
Lorita— I hope you are able to be seen today. Is the compression sleeve helping the knee?
Ron— Good luck at Bingo today. I wonder if the prizes are bigger than they are at Dave's Senior Center. If I recall correctly, he won $2 once.
Beth— Wow! That's quick. Will you be selling the current place and your lovely garden?

It plumbing day here. The crew arrived by 8:15 and have already removed most of the wall. I can hear the working on getting the tub out. LOL, they were very happy to confirm that it was a cheapo builder's grade stainless model which is nice and light. I was very happy to take my last shower ever in it this morning, but I'll miss not having a long hot soak before bed. Boo.
I need to run over to mom's to collect the mail, water her outdoor pots and feed/water the cat who will hide on me. I haven't seen Her Highness in the last several visits— not when we were working on the purge nor when I came over to organize mom's packing. She's kind of a jerk.
The trip is going well so far. My niece just sent a picture of mom on the patio enjoying coffee and a magazine captioned "living her best life".

Lorita….no, I do not know why you are a vegetarian.

Didn't stay at the center today for bingo. Was told they were just finishing cleaning everything in the center. They had two cases of COVID and one other that was sick with something else. Even though they were sanitizing everything, I am still weak and didn't want to take any chances.

Beth I know you will miss your home, but I also understand why you had to. I felt like that was an awful lot for you to carry by yourself. Glad you found a new home and hope it becomes special too. My uncle that’s in hospice, they had to sell their home and he had garden, nut trees, blueberries, and fruit trees, and I don’t know what all else. A couple in their 40s who was very enthusiastic about all that stuff bought it so hopefully they enjoy it. My uncle and aunt were very happy that somebody like that found it. Before it sold one of his old neighbors went and picked some of his blueberries, and brought to him. He really appreciated that and that was very kind of them. Moving is quite the job. If I ever have to move again, I may just hire a moving company. When I was young, I didn’t think of thing about moving all that stuff, but no more, those days are gone.
Lorita how did your day go?
think that was a wise call Ron. I’ve noticed at the grocery store several people older than me wearing masks now. Is your granddaughter still doing OK?

ditto Lorita…how did your day go?

To all. I went to the beach today in NJ, Ocean City. Was 87 water 71 but felt good. It’s a 5-10 minute drive for me to get to the beach

Day went okay. There and back in An hour and half. It is diverticulitis again so on Flagyl for a week, then back to see him.. Will stay on clear liquids for another day or two.
1 -
Beth, best wishes on moving to your new home near your family.
Lorita, I hope you feel better quickly!
Richard, I remember the Boardwalk, I went when I was a very little child. I remember the wheeled things that people sat on to move around, also salt water taffy.
Ron, keep washing your hands and stay away from COVID!
HB, admit it, you love shopping too, don't you? 😉
What type of bathroom tiles are the sexy ones?
I'm glad your mom is living her best life. I hope the cat is okay. She probably misses her mom.
I slept better last night, 11 hours. I inhaled lavender and citrus essential oils as suggested by Lane Simonian for aromatherapy and I believe they worked.
I just returned from the senior center where we watched a showing of To Have and Have Not, with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. It was a really good movie. There is a cinema aficionado who tells us the history of the film before each monthly presentation. I really enjoy it.

Lorita…glad you went to the Dr. I hope you will be taking the Flagyll.
Ricardo…we want to go too.
Iris…ditto…take u s to the next screening. My Dr suggests Valarian.
HB…yes, what are the sexy tiles?

A little more about our upcoming move. We have not yet listed our current home. We are still waiting for siding and fencing to be installed (post-tornado) and our contractor is saying 4-5 weeks. They had to order the siding and that's when it will arrive. Will I miss our current home and garden? Yes, but we have 3 good reasons for moving: to be closer to our family, ranch house vs 2 story for aging in place and to accommodate hubby's disability, and the garden has become too much for me, one person, to keep up with. I may take some plants but probably not, as there is not a flower garden there (yet). There is a vegetable garden there. I had ordered 375 tulip bulbs to plant here, but called and cancelled the order today. 'Banja Luka' is my favorite tulip; google for an image if you like. So, so pretty. I will plant tulips at the new place but not yet. I would first need to make a garden bed.
Lots of tomatoes still. Picked 26 today off 3 plants. I have cucumbers still but getting tired of them so will pull plants soon. I had already harvested the carrots and some green beans - then pulled the green beans as I couldn't keep up with them (the pods were starting to go to seed). It's dry here. Yesterday I watered the front yard, today the backyard and tomorrow I will do the garden. It has been very hot so having to get out in the morning to water and do any yard/garden work that needs done. It was 99 today.
Richard, the boardwalk sounds wonderful. I presume you are talking about the "Jersey shore." I had a co-worker who went to the Jersey shore every summer for a vacation. I've seen a beach boardwalk once; it was in Santa Cruz, CA.
Lorita, sorry you are not feeling well. Praying you will feel good again very soon.
I'll be back tomorrow or the next day. It has been very busy here lately. It'll just get busier for the next few weeks with packing, moving, cleaning up/sprucing up the garden, keeping the lawn looking nice and all of the usual things one needs to do.

Already took the first one. Will be 3 times a day. Will be giving meds to both GPs and myself. Have made a chart. No metallic taste yet.but it will come.. Dr. says we need to get a CT scan when this improves to see what is going on. I have had it four times now.
Iris, glad you got some good sleep. I like old movies better than new ones.
Ricardo sounds like you're having fun.
Everyone, sleep well tonight.

Judith, I have valerian and I have used it in the past, but I never noticed that it helped me.
Good night, Lorita.

Good morning. I'm on the wake up at 2 - 3 am kick this week.

Good morning porchies.
Jerrilynn- I am sorry your day started so early. While I like some time to myself in the quiet of early morning, that kind of early leads to a rough day of dragging around. I hope you can kick that habit soon.
Iris- That's great about sleeping 11 hours. Wow! I've heard good things about lavender for promoting sleep. A friend irons her pillowcases with lavender water for this reason.
Ricardo- My BFF was in OC last week. She complained about the cold water resulting from upswelling. Her church sponsored a refugee family almost 2 years ago and she still dotes on them. She paid for a week "down the shore" for their first American Summer Vacation. She rented her ex's place; he gave her the steep family discount. Bestie decided she'd rent a small place to be on hand to show them the ropes. I'm not sure who had the better time. She got her Kessel's Special but the line at Mack & Manco's was too long so she skipped the pizza.
Lorita- I hope the medication brings some symptom relief soon and that your doctor is able to figure out a plan to keep you out of the weeds. My late MIL had both diverticulitis. This frustrated my BIL with whom she lived. Back in the late 1950s, her family doc suggested a super low fiber diet which MIL clung to because she revered this man. Fast forward to the 1990s and her new big city specialist and son (an ER doc) tried to change things to prevent flare-ups, and it devolved into a battle of wills.
Beth- My knees envy your ranch living. I'm sure the garden at your new home will be lovely in your care. You may find you land on different kind of garden. I did a lot of shade gardening at my old place but had full sun when I moved. My crazy magnolia (she's blooming again at the moment) is changing that up as she gets bigger. I did google those tulips— they are stunning.
Judith and Iris- Sexy tile? I started with a small update in the hall bath as I didn't want to commit to $40K for a complete remodel given that my kitchen and ensuite could use an update soon and I just re-did my driveway. This was supposed to be a new tub and tile surround. But when the tub came out, the subfloor was water damaged which led to the floor being taken up. When I picked tile for the walls, I picked a very vanilla ivory subway to match the existing floor I don't love but was keeping to save money. The wall tile is fine, but had I gutted the bath, I would have picked something more interesting. When we agreed to change the scope of the work to include a new floor, I had to scramble to find a tile I liked that went with the tile I bought to go with the floor we just ripped out. And it needed to be available to take home.
I had already had my eye on some bone skirting to use as a baseboard that matches the tub tile, so I just needed that and a floor. I went a little crazy to compensate for my boring walls. DH loves it which surprised me. I'm thinking maybe denim for a shower curtain. Shower curtains are among my favorite sewing projects.
Voila! The manager of the store recognized me when I came in and was awesome. He helped me pick and arranged to have the bulk of the tiles delivered to my house last night at 5:30. I can pick up the extra pieces and a new threshold tomorrow at 10am. The customer experience couldn't have been better.

Good morning
Banja Luka is beautiful. Seems like when fall comes. I’m so tired. I don’t feel like planning bulbs. I wouldn’t mind trying a few of those in the backyard as the deer don’t tend to bother back there because of the fence. A lot of the neighbors don’t have a fence so I think they take the path of lease resistance. My front yard does not have fencing and I do have issues with the deer eating tulips out there. I just don’t have the time or energy to do all the spraying and stuff required to keep the deer at bay
HB will be nice when you can enjoy that new bath
Lorita hope you have a decent day

HB, I see how that tile could be invigorating while taking a shower!
Beth, I've seen the Banja Luka tulips here in SoCal, they are indeed beautiful.
I got 3 3/4 hours of sleep last night. My sleep is so erratic.

HB: I LOVE THAT TILE!!!!!!!!!!
Mint, I'm like you. By the time Fall is here, I've about worked myself to death. But this year is going to be different. I've promised myself. I don't care who I have to hire and that DH gets mad because I've done it. I'll be spending my money, so there.
Beth, those tulips!!! I've got to have some. I don't have issues with deer around the house. Too much going on around the back pond for them to be tempted up here. LOL.
Iris, glad you are sleeping better. I use a lavender linen spray for our bedding. Sometimes a citrusy one. I also like rose water. Sorry, just saw you only got 3 hours sleep last nite. Ugh. I was up at 2 am.
Lorita: Flagyl is well known for causing the metallic taste. Dr. Google says hard candy, taking the pill with a dab of chocolate pudding, anything sweet. I agree with a CT after this flare. Hope you are able to get thru this with minimal trouble.
"Down shore"… my late MIL lived on the Chesapeake Bay. She called it "down shore" at Bowley's Quarters where she lived. The views were beautiful.
I need a new gas range/oven. Mine is less than 5 years old, a Samsung. I hate it. I've started looking. I want one with 2 ovens. If I had all the $ to waste, I'd get one of those snazzy professional ones with a French flair. I don't have all the $ to waste, sadly. But 2 ovens is an absolute must.
Headed to do grocery shopping and meal prep for the trip to Scottsboro. Have a good day everyone…..

Good morning Porch Friends!
David, I'm glad you enjoyed your anniversary trip.
Eagle, it's good to hear from you and glad you were able to post. I always enjoy your newsy posts.
Ron, I hope you are feeling better and it's good that you are getting out and about.
HB, your tile is beautiful. How pretty your bath will be when it's finished!
Iris, hope you continue to sleep well. It makes such a difference in how we feel when we get a good night's sleep.
Lorita, I'm sorry to hear you have diverticulitis again. I hope you are soon feeling well again.
Judith, how is the flip house coming? What's going on at the art museum these days?
JeriLynn, enjoy the camping and concert. It sounds like a lot of fun!
Have a good day, everyone!

Morning, thanks for your concern and good wishes, everyone. Helps my feelings. Slept well, just got up. Am hurting so took a pain pill. My doctor has diverticulitis and takes Fiber con for it so guess that is what he will give me. Pain is mostly in my hip.bone.
HB, the tile is beautiful.
Gave GPs their medicine and am having juice. I have all kinds and all are good. White grape juice is so good. I'll be back later.

love the sexy tile and always love a subway…I like to set it in a "herringbone" pattern.
Flip house is in limbo. I keep drawing but we have to get someplace for the cowboy's father to move too. Very long story…soon to be a saga.
The museum continues the exhibit of Edith Head. New is an interesting exhibit of Picasso and lino cuts prints.
When looking for 2 ovens be certain to judge if the smaller over is really useful. I have a La Canche. It is 38" and has 2 good sized ovens. It is 15 years old. Unfortunately the mice have messed up the wiring. It has been hard to find someone to work on it. A new person is coming Friday to take a look. Fingers crossed.
Beth…you will take some of your garden with you???
Iris…I think it takes a while to become effective. Maybe give it another try. I find reading puts me to sleep. Right now reading a few pages of Chasing Cezanne. It is about a stolen painting and moves along rapidly. I got it from Abe's books. I order from there frequently. Really good prices.
"Down shore". What an interesting term. We just said going to the beach…lol

Iris- You'll be glad to know my "little sister", what mom calls her cat, seems to be faring OK. DH and I went over to grab showers and feed her a while ago. She ate all the food I left her yesterday— one bowl of kibble, a small handful of Indoor Cat Hairball Treats, a small handful or filled treats and several pieces of freeze-dried chicken breast plus fresh cold filtered water. She used her litter like a good girl. And hid under the bed until I went in the shower when she snuck out and sat with DH for about 10 minutes. I opened the window in mom's room to catch the afternoon sun for her.
DS is headed over now. She'll hide on him, too.
