Lotita, I won a whole one dollar and 50 cents. I had to share the pot. I go for the fun not the money

My cousin has contacted us. She said the storm was relentless and trees, fences etc. are down or gone. She said the wind sounded angry. They have water but not power.

Hope everyone is o.k. after Hurricane Milton.

Mint so glad your cousin is safe! My brother lives in Sarasota, haven't heard back from him yet. Praying.
We were lucky again here on the east coast, just some rain and winds.

Called our health dept. where I get my vaccines. They will have the senior flu shots next week and covid vaccine the middle of November so it will work out all right. Mint, are you feeling all right today? What is fluad- the senior shot?

Caro_Lynne hoping your brother is just unable to communicate and maybe you have heard from him now. Know there were a lot of tornadoes on the East side of Florida. Understand some fatalities in Port St Lucie. The whole area from west to east had a lot to deal with it seems . I’m glad you are safe.
lorita FluAd is a senior vaccine. I never had much of a reaction until i started getting it. Im feeling good today Lorita. Just take when you don’t have anything important to do next day just in case

Hey there Sandy; really good to hear from you . . . life has certainly changed for you since you first started here on this site. What an amazing difference . . . I feel out of breath just reading of all the places you have been - whew! So happy for you in that life has turned a smiling face your way; well deserved . . . . you may need wheels or wings on your shoes!
Judith, it will be beautiful when the sod is put down. A few years back, we had our lawns torn out and the earth enriched. We then had sod laid down and oh my; it was SO beautiful, we certainly have enjoyed it. Green as green could be and smelled wonderful like green should smell.
Nothing much happening right now which can be a good thing. Weather is not too hot; just warm afternoons and October getting ready to turn into November before too long. Goodness; Thanksgiving is not far away now. I cannot do the full on huge Thanksgiving feast any longer which is too bad as it was a humdinger of a dinner I always did. No one else to do the cooking any longer. Will miss it but also happy to have had it earlier in life.
Have not yet heard from Grandson recently stationed in Middle East. I think of him often and hope his tour there will end quickly without "issues." One never knows these days what will be. An entirely peaceful world . . . . would that not be amazing and a blessing beyond counting.
Seems like I'm a bit in the doldrums . . . I began to feel a soreness in my left hip yesterday and am hoping it is from sleeping "wrong" or something benign ,. . . sure do not want to have bad hip issues. Here's hoping.
Lorita, hope that Darwin's wife sees a dementia specialist and that the MD has ruled out Lewy Body Dementia which is most often fraught with nightmares. Sometimes a specialist might change a diagnosis for type of dementia as the disease evolves with changing symptoms.
Whoops - phone ringing -

CaroLynn hope your brother is okay.
Has anyone heard the new covid vaccine should not be taken, that it wasn't good for you or not what it should be? A friend said his dad's doctor told him not to take it.

My mom heard from my brother via my nephew who also lives in Sarasota. No power or cell service but they are all safe thank God!
Haven't been posting much since my LO started hospice. He is going downhill so fast I cannot believe it. You know it's coming but are never prepared for it. I spend most of my day crying and cry myself to sleep. Watching someone you love and care about fade away before your eyes is so very difficult. My heart is breaking. He is still eating when I feed him and just pray to God I am doing right by him. I know I will never be the same after this but am thankful I can be with him until the end. Sorry for the rant and thankful that I have you guys to share my deep pain with xo

CaroLynn, I feel your pain as I'm sure so many of us do who have gone through this.. I'm glad we're here to support you. Probably the hardest thing any of us have ever dealt with. Are you his sole caregiver?
So glad you were able to hear your brother is safe.

Good morning
Caro_Lynne I am so very sorry. Please feel free to come here and express how you feel. That can be therapeutic at times. Glad that you were able to hear from your family and that they are ok.

Thx Mint.
I have similar reactions to vaccines too, glad to have the protection afterwards.
II hope your family in FL have been safe during the devastating weather.

Barb I'm very thankful for vaccines too
Lorita it is your decision about the vaccine. I will say this though. Try not to be troubled by someone telling you their doctor said this or that. As in any profession all doctors are not the same

Mint, as you know I'm not around people much but would be afraid to not get the vaccine. It won't be available at our health dept. Until mid November. Guess I'll get my flu shot either next week or the weeks after.
I need to get into WM to try to find a real electric blanket instead of just a flimsy throw. I got rid of one a few years ago. Just shows we should hang onto things.
Hope everyone is well today. Just visited a bit with Toad. He and his wife have been sick with something. He said he didn't get out of the house for four days and that is just not like him. He is feeling better and is out moving cattle around to get grass. We actually got a three minute sprinkle last night. Didn't even settle the dust but sounded good.

Good morning. Just a quick check in.
Lorita you could look at Amazon for your electric blanket. just a thought.
Tree trimming guys are here, back later.

Eagle, good luck with the tree trimmers.
Just ordered what they called an electric blanket from WM. Will be here this afternoon. May have to return it but we'll see. Just can't get over the fact I can order something this morning and and get it delivered today!

What about RSV? Did anyone see the northern lights last night? I didn't know to look for them but will tonight. The news said they were visible as far south as Texas.

Caro_Lynne, ranting is something we all do. That is why we're here, to listen and share experiences.
I lost Lou May 26th, two days before her birthday. I was the sole caregiver fir her fir 10 years as we shared the struggles of dementia. Is was hard to see her declining through the years and eventually not recognizing me. It was even harder when she left this earth to be with our Lord. I was a wreck for awhile, but eventually was able to go out; back to church, council on aging, eating out with friends and going to grief sharing at a local church. We all eventually have the same path! See im ranting too!!

Good morning
Did you get your blanket Lorita? How was it? You asked about RSV. It is recommended when you are over 75 or 65 if have certain preexisting conditions.
Nice pictures Sandy. They were seen where I live too but I was asleep. Did see some pictures though.
Hope to make some blueberry muffins today. Mom mentioned she would like some.

Morning,
Still cleaning baseboards, washing windows and de-cluttering. Have a good day everyone.

Here. Reading but still (!) no internet so not posting much. Fish fry at the Catholic Church yesterday, furniture shopping Thursday, grandkids activities today, guests coming to see the house today, tomorrow and Tuesday. Still unboxing as well. Sandy your pics of the northern lights were stunning! They were visible in our area too. I looked a couple of times, but did not see them. I guess I didn’t look at the right time.

Morning, good to see so many posts this morning.
Thank you, Sandy, for posting the pictures. They are gorgeous. I looked for the lights last night but didn't see them. Maybe we're too far west. The one or two times I have seen them, half a century ago, they were green. Red is beautiful.
Mint, they brought the blanket yesterday about 2:30, ordered it about 9 . It's packed in a cloth container about 1x1. If it ever gets out of there, it will never get back in. I felt of it and it is not like a blanket, much lighter but guess that will work. My bed is king sized but I got a queen and plan on pinning the edge away from me to keep in place.
JeriLynn, baseboards! I need to do that.
Eagle, Red River Rivalry today! Are you going to watch? Going to be in mid 90s. Our Gov. Called them." Short horns "yesterday. silly man.

Amazing pics of the northern lights! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the supportive words my friends. Ron, I too am the sole 24/7 caregiver. I'm happy you are beginning to continue living; Lou will always be with you. Hospice was sending an aide to assist with bathing him but they would come too early in the day. He sleeps more than he is awake and it agitated him and he would scream when touched so I told them I'd do it myself. My youngest son lives close by so he comes to help me in the afternoons to get him cleaned up and changed. He's much stronger and gentler than the aides. Between the two of us we get him done.
I hope your blanket works out Lorita. Beth congratulations on your move. I sure wish you lived closer Mint - I'd be over eating everyday!
Hope everyone is well. xo

Hello everyone, another nice day. I spent the morning cleaning out my clothes clothes closet and the cedar chest from my first marriage.I got 3 bage of trash to give to Savers. My next task is to clean out my bureau The more I do now will help keep me busy and make it easier on my wife and our kids
For those who don't know I am onthe waiting list for the local Veterans Home in Boston and someone is coming to my house to see what kind of help that I will need in November and I could be at the Veterans home 6 to 8 weeks later.

Would not want to be on I-35 this morning or any highway down to Dallas.
CaroLynn, if need be could you ask the aide to come later? My problem was getting Charles into the shower. It scared him, probably being in a enclosed space with water coming down on him.
Mint, blueberry muffins! How good. I haven't made or eaten anything sweet for five or six months so my mouth is watering. And just watched Milk Street where they were making all kinds of cakes.
David, is the Veterans Home far from where you live? Oklahoma has several of them and they're always full and in pretty locations. Good luck in getting in soon.
Found the attachment or smoothy container for my Ninja. Also got vegan protein powder so will try that. Should take the place of Boost which I really like.
