Eaglemom, when I can't sleep, sometimes I will fall asleep if I just lay quietly with my eyes closed. But sometimes my mind is wide awake, and I know it will be futile to attempt sleep. I just keep trying.
Lorita, I'm praying for Sarah and Todd.

I think getting away from the house for a while and being with relatives will help. If we stay at home, we think too much. Tty to enjoy the trip and scenery.
Thanks for the prayers, Ron. Todd just told me she' s resting and they were watching tv.
Good night, everyone

Good morning everyone
Ron know it is different but I hope that you have a nice visit with everyone.
Lorita hope you was able to get a good nights rest.
Judith I set some donuts out on the porch, all varieties. Someone else will have to bring coffee because I don’t have a coffee pot. I’ll set out some milk.

Good Morning. Coffee is hot and ready, I also have tea for you folks that don't do coffee. 😉

Morning. Thanks. JeriLynn, for the tea. Used to lov coffee but now it's tea. I do like to smell coffee though. Thanks, Mint, I did sleep well until about 3 when it took a while to get back to sleep after I woke up. We had rain during the night and still raining some. I see puddles! Hope everyone is well today. Back later.

Son just called and is on his way. Hope and pray I hold myself together, especially Friday which will be 2 months since Lou was called to be with our Heavenly Father.
Hard to believe it's been so long since I've been anywhere for a extended period that I had to go buy a suitcase. Now trying to decide what to put where. Duffle bag in the old days was so much easier!

Have a good trip, Ron. You will be just fine when you're with your son and the rest of the family. They understand how you're feeling. Lou would want you to enjoy being with them.

Enjoy your family, Ron!
Simon (my cat) is having difficulties. He had been incontinent at night so I've been putting down pee pads beneath him. But lately he is incontinent of his poop. This morning I awoke to two lumps, one of which he had walked in and smeared the floor. I had to put him on the balcony so that I could clean and sanitize the floor. In the daytime I can monitor him and put him in the litter box. Simon is 19 1/2 years old, blind and having some dementia, because he is not aware of when he steps in something that he shouldn't. His back legs are weak with atrophy, I think that's why he can't make it to the litter box. Should I put a litter box closer to where he sleeps? But then the other cats would use it too. I'll have to think of something. Otherwise he still seems alert, not ready to check out.

Iris, my Oliver is 17 and slowing down. While DD was here, she made the comment "Mom, you know it's not going to be long before you have to consider…" For now he is continent, sleeps a lot, still eats but not as much. His coat is rough and not shiny like normal, no matter how much I brush. He's very loving.
I would try a litter box at night, remove it each morning? Maybe that would deter the other cats from using it?

thanks mint….looks like I got up too late to enjoy

Iris, so sorry to hear Simon isn't doing too well. I think JeriLynn's idea is a good one . He won't have to go to the box if it is near and he knows it. So hard to see our friends decline.
I bet you'll know the answer to this question- I have three cats,; Max and Lilly and their son, Sammy. They have always gotten along just fine until a couple of weeks ago. Lilly and particularly Sammy acts like he is going to jump on Max. It scares him and he has almost taken up residence under the hassock.. I have to feed him there and he sits on my lap a lot of the time. I don't know why this is happening. Other times they're friendly. Do you think neutering Sammyy would help?

Mint, I just saw a video that indicated Ohio has removed 160,000 names from being registered voters. You may want to check and be sure you are still registered to vote. Here's the video, and under the video is a link where there are the names of the persons who were removed, plus a link to re-register. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWRWCv3W1gY&list=WL&index=16

Mint I could not leave a hot link, you would need to copy and paste the link into your browser. Or, go to YouTube and search for Beau of the fifth column, "Let's talk about Ohio removing…"

How can they do that?

i removed my own name many years ago.
Got to rest a little today. I’ve been wanting to make some popcorn all week and I was able to do that today.
Hope each one has a good night0 -
Lorita….Dick's name was not removed until 7 years after he died. I told them he was dead. There are a lot of names that are no longer relevant.

I see #195 has come up again. It's been a beautiful day with half an inch of rain.Slow enough that it all soaked in. I watered the caladiums and violets in the pots yesterday so guess the others got watered today.
Haven't heard anything from Sarah today. Called Todd's number x3 but mailbox is full and he didn't call back. Guess everything is about the same.

Good morning.
Beth— Thanks for the voter information.
Jerilynn— I hope you got decent weather for some swimming and sharing your meal.
Ron— I hope the trip is a good one for you. Being among others who love Lou and you should be good balm for the soul.
Iris— The puppy pad is probably easiest for Simon at this point. Could he even climb into a litter pan? We had similar issues with DS's himmie. We lined a pack'n'play with pads and kept him there unless he was on our laps or eating. We just washed him off as needed.
Lorita— my thoughts are with you, Sarah and Todd.
IME, an intact male who isn't being used for breeding is going to have behavior problems. Aggression and spraying are pretty common. Neutering should improve things, but if he's older the behaviors could be somewhat entrenched and won't be entirely eliminated. Are the parent cats fixed?
Mint— I wonder if the cobbler you remember from childhood was something else technically. I always call what you describe generically as a cobbler, but the orchard where I sometimes buy such things breaks it down. They have a sign with pictures. Pies have shallow crusted bottoms and can have any sort of "top" or none at all. Crisps are deep dish and have streusel topping, cobblers have a cake batter top, and Bettys have bread-based streusel topping.

Good morning.
Really good rain yesterday. The front pond has water in it again and the geese are happily swimming and coming up to munch on corn this morning.
DH has Neurosurgeon appointment this morning so hopefully we get answers about his neck and shoulder. Then I have the Attorney to open a Probate Estate (was hoping to avoid that but cannot) and then the VA at 12:30 to get the ball rolling on Arlington and other matters. This is progress.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Praying for you,Todd and Sarah.

Morning, thanks for the prayers. Hopefully I can hear how Sarah is today.
Shirley, I know how hard it is to adjust.
JeriLynn, good luck with all you have to do. I remember all the paperwork the VA required when I lost Charles.
HB, the mother has been fixed but not the papa. When the weather is cooler I may have Sammy neutered. Max is laid back so won't bother him.
Took some letters to the mailbox to be mailed a while ago and there was a calf out on the road. Managed to get him back in the driveway and closed the gate. I had all new fences put in a few years ago except that quarter mile. Called Toad and told him. Darwin has gotten calves back in and fixed the fence three times.
Mint, I'm thinking of trying some flat bread. Is it hard to do?
Zetta, hope you're well. Are the fires close to you? You may be in Arizona right now. Did you get your house sold?

here…
I guess as landlord you have to get some more new fence….hope it is easier than getting an electritian.

Looks like someone will have to but it will be a mess. OG&E sprayed the trees just outside and in the fence line a couple of years ago and killed a lot of them. The dead trees have fallen on the fence and in the ditch. The fence line will have to be cleared of those before a new fence can be built. But the man who built my others built the new fence a foot or two inside the old one. I'm not going to worry about it.
I just had a tussel with a container of Round Up. Took a lot of doing to get it open. The sprayer I used before is Darwins. He brought it over already filled with Round Up and water. Need to spray some more weeds in the lot.
I saw a piece on the news about a man in Bixby who uses a chain saw to fashion things out of standing tree trunks. I have his name but need to call the station to get his number. If I could get him to make something out of the trunk of the elm it wouldn't be completely gone.
They're having rain about 15 miles south of here so no spraying today because it may move up this way. They had 4" of rain about 30 miles south of here in just over an hour a day or two ago. I get aggravated st the news and weather people because as soon as it turns cooler they begin talking about when it will get hot again. Won't let us enjoy the cooler weather. Back later.

The only way to avoid OG&E butchering vegetation is to do your own management. I have done that for years.
I guess I do not pay much attention to the weather unless a tornado is involved. Then I am on high alert. My house is airconditioned/heated as is my car and if it is raining I stay inside.
Hope Ron is OK on his trip to the Casino.
