Living with Alzheimer's - A Caregiver's Journey

My wife was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's eight years ago when she was just 60 years old. I have been her primary caregiver every day since then until her death last month. As a means to help me cope with this terrible disease I wrote a detailed journal of my experience over that entire time. The writing is in two volumes: "Living with Alzheimer's - The Early Years" and "Living with Alzheimer's - The Later Years." It was a difficult journey. It is not a pretty story. I have shared this with only very few of my close family and friends. I wrote this mostly for myself, but the few who have read it have encouraged me to share it with the possibility that it may provide some useful information to others who are coping with the full time care of their spouse. I was hoping to simply post these stories here, but that does not appear possible. If anyone is interested in reading my journey, please contact me. Alzheimer's is truly a terrible disease. I wish you all well.

Thank you for your willingness to share I have just joined alzconnected and my husband was diagnosed about 2 years ago. He is physically doing well, he does recognize that he has alzheimers, however, does not think that it affects him as deeply as it does. I am definitely interested in reading about your journey. I find myself depressed and overwhelmed pretty regularly and sad because I miss my loving husband. Thank you in advance.3
