Paranoia(9)
How do you handle it when your loved one has dementia related audio hallucinations? My dad is convinced there are people who want to kill him at the memory care facility he lives at. He can't tell me who they are. He hears discussions that don't exist. And yet seems so much more with it than any of the others that reside…

Undermining comments within this forum
I'm a little upset. I have come to this forum for support and insight from people going through the same or similar situations to my family several times before and I really appreciate the kind and helpful things people have to say. Yet almost always there is someone that feels the need to tell me that my LO with ES should…

Seeking advice from experiences of moving to AL or MC
My able bodied father lives at home to care for my mother in Stage 6 Alzheimer’s...they have lived in this house for 21 years. She is not incontinent, does not wander, and is still mobile but dad is more of a companion versus a caretaker. Her personal hygiene is very neglected, keeping up with medications are a struggle,…

How to validate mom's hoarding?
As most of us know some behaviors are almost impossible to navigate through or around, hoarding is one of those behaviors. I've been decluttering paper, clothes, household items to prepare for upcoming property insurance inspection. Mom is irrational when it comes to decluttering (throwing things out or donations) even…

So tired(1)
My dad died in 2015 of Alz. My husband died in 2018 of FTD. And now my mom is in the grip of dementia. I am emotionally exhausted. Not so much from the caregiving, but from watching people I love go through this torment. Sometimes it is so sad and overwhelming that I just want her to die. Wondering where God’s mercy is.

Is video truth helpful or hurtful for paranoia?
My mother-in-law (86) has lived alone in a big house for the 40 years since her husband died. She has always been strong and self-reliant. Her granddaughter and I are her only close relatives (not counting her two elderly sisters in Japan). I live 15 minutes away; her granddaughter lives far away in another state. A few…

My 88 yr old Mother keeps calling the POLICE because she thinks I am an Intruder!
My Mom no longer recognizes me and on Thursday when I was making her a sandwich, she called 911 to report an "intruder." The police came and my mom gave them a big story about the "intruder" breaking in and "beating her up." All not true. It was heart-breaking. I showed them my ID, verified I was her daughter, showed that…

Guardian ad Litem has placed my 73yo sister in a NH
In 2017 my sister was declared incompetent and was appointed a guardian. (I live ~1000 miles away). Advice needed(7)
Hi, My mom was diagnosed two years ago, although I feel like I saw slight shifts to personality and memory years ago. It’s easy to chalk it up to old age although she’s only now 74.
